Music converter: Have you copied some songs that you have downloaded from the Internet to your MP3 player but, although they work regularly on your PC, you cannot listen to them? There is probably an incompatibility problem between the songs and the device in question, but don’t panic.

By downloading a music converter from the Internet you should be able to turn any song into a standard MP3 file (and thus bypass the obstacle) in a matter of seconds. It is not difficult.

Install one of the software that I am going to recommend, follow the instructions below and you will see that your portable media player will digest all the songs without problems.

If you are looking for a music converter free, fast and easy to use, don’t think twice and connect to the Fre: ac. It is an excellent software released under open source license that allows you to convert all the main audio file formats: MP3, MP4 / M4A, WMA, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC, AAC, WAV and Bonk in a matter of clicks. It is also available in a portable version that does not require installations to operate.

To download it to your PC, first click on the item Downloads located in the sidebar of the Fre: ac site and then on the link next to the wording Plain .zip package. When the download is complete, open the newly downloaded zip archive (e.g. freac-1.0.21a-bin.zip), extract the contents to any folder and start the program freac.exe.

Now, drag the songs you want to convert into the program window, then click on the arrow placed next to the symbol play (in the Fre: ac toolbar) and select the format in which you want to transform the files. You can choose between: MP3 (MP3 Encoder Blades), FLAC (FLAC Audio Encoder), WMA (Windows Media Audio Encoder), OGG (Ogg Vorbis Encoder) and other formats.

If you need to “rip” an audio CD, go to the menu instead File and select the item Add> Songs from audio CD from the latter. To change the destination folder of the converted songs (the default is Music), Click the button Browse located at the bottom right.

Fre: ac is also available for Mac. You can download it by connecting to the section Downloads on the program’s website and clicking on the link next to the item Binary .dmg image. When the download is complete, open the newly downloaded dmg package (e.g. freac-20140223-macosx.dmg) and copy the software into the folder Applications OS X. Then right-click on the Fre: ac icon and select the item You open from the menu that appears to start the app. For the rest, the operation is the one just illustrated for the Windows version of the program.

Music converter

Another music converter for Windows you can consider is FormatFactory. In reality it is not a software dedicated exclusively to music, but a multimedia converter that can also work with videos and images. However, it does its job with the audio files in an excellent way, ensuring an almost unsettling ease of use. It supports MP3, WMA, FLAC, APE, AAC, WAV, OGG files and more.

To download FormatFactory to your PC, connected to its official website and click on the blue button Download twice in a row. When the download is complete, open the FormatFactory installation package (e.g. FFSetup3.3.4.0.exe) and click on first Yup and then on I agree is install. At this point, remove the check mark from the items related to Ask.com (to avoid installing additional toolbars for the browser) and click first on Next and then on decline is Finish to finish the setup.

To start the transformation of one or more songs with FormatFactory, start the program, select the tab Audio from the left sidebar and click on the icon relating to the file format in which you want to transform the songs (e.g. MP3). In the window that opens, click on the button Add files and select all the songs you want to convert. Then click on the button Edit to select the destination folder of the output files and click on first OK and then on Go to start processing the songs.

Music converter

There are also online converters, which work directly from the browser without installing programs on the computer. One of the best with regards to music files is Online Convert which supports all major audio formats: MP3, WMA, FLAC, OGG, AAC and others.

If you want to try it, connected to its home page, expand the drop-down menu Audio converter and select the file format in which you want to transform your songs (e.g. Convert to MP3). Then click on the button Browse / Choose file, select the song to be transformed and click on Convert file to start the conversion.

At the end of the operation, the output file will be automatically downloaded to your PC. If you want, you can also adjust the bitrate of the converted songs and normalize their volume, respectively, by choosing one of the values available in the menu Change audio bitrate and placing a check mark next to the item Normalize audio.
