How to update Android: You have an Android smartphone and you have just discovered that a friend of yours who owns the same model of phone has updated the operating system of the latter. You have not yet received any notification on the availability of the update but you would also like to switch to the latest version of Android available for your smartphone: how to do it without causing trouble?

Don’t worry, I’ll try to explain it to you in the simplest way possible. All you need is an active Wi-Fi connection, a Windows computer and the official software of your smartphone manufacturer installed on it. So, you are ready to find out how to update android using the official procedures (which therefore do not affect the warranty of the phone and are not dangerous)? Here’s everything in detail.

The first procedure related to how to update android that I want to propose only involves the use of the smartphone. Provided you have an active Wi-Fi Internet connection and your phone is connected to it, access the Android settings by tapping on the blue square which is at the bottom right of the screen and then the icon Settings (the gear) found in the list of applications installed on the smartphone.

At this point, scroll to the bottom of the screen that opens and swipe the option with your finger Device Info. Go to the section Software update and tap the option Refresh to start searching for software updates for your phone. If there are updates for Android available, the smartphone will be updated automatically, otherwise a message will appear telling you that there are no updates for your device.

The second method on how to update android it concerns the use of a computer program, more precisely the software that the manufacturer of your smartphone has certainly made available on its official website and that allows you to manage all aspects of the phone with ease (software update but also data backup, address book management, etc.). For example, if you are using an Android smartphone manufactured by Samsung, you need to connect to the manufacturer’s website and download the Kies program by clicking on the button Download Kies (Windows).

When the download is complete, double-click on it to open the file you just downloaded (Kies_2.0.1.11053_99_3.exe) and install the program on your PC following the guided procedure (just click on Forward). At this point, start Kies through its icon on the desktop, connect your smartphone to the PC using the USB cable supplied with the phone and, in the window that opens, click on the name of the phone (in the menu at the top left) to check the availability of updates for the your phone. If the program does not start or gives errors, install the .Net Framework 3.5 from Microsoft on your PC.
