In the past few days you have sent a message to your friend on Messenger but, since you have not received an answer, you have the doubt that you have been blocked. Of course, it could also be that the person in question has not yet read the message and that, simply, has been unable to respond, but doubts are not lacking and, for this reason, you would like to clarify the subject.
How do you say? Given the situation you wonder how to understand if you have been blocked on Facebook Messenger? If so, don’t worry, I’m here to help. In the next chapters of this guide I will provide you with some useful information on the subject and I will explain how to put into practice some solutions to exclude or confirm the hypothesis of blocking by a user on Messenger (unfortunately there is no direct function that allows to discover this information).
I would suggest, therefore, not to delay any longer and immediately get to work. Come on, take a few minutes of free time, read carefully what I am about to illustrate in the next chapters and put my suggestions into practice. I assure you that, with a little patience and luck, you will be able to get an idea of who blocked you on Messenger. I wish you a good read and I wish you a big good luck for everything!
How to tell if someone has blocked you on Messenger
In the next few lines I will give you some “tips” on how to understand if you have been blocked on Facebook Messenger. First, however, there is a small premise: if you have been blocked by a person on Messenger, you will not be able to interact with him in the famous messaging app, but you will still be able to see his profile on Facebook and interact with him. (for example leaving comments or reactions under his posts or posting content on his profile). Therefore, do not draw hasty “positive conclusions” if you are still able to interact with a person on Facebook: you may have been blocked only on Messenger.
Check the status of activity
The first solution you can put in place is the one relating to the verification of the Status of activity about the contact you suspect blocked you. In fact, if there is actually a block in place by a user, you will not be able to know when this person is online on Messenger.
However, it must be said that this solution cannot be used if the user, for privacy reasons, has disabled for everyone the possibility of seeing his status of activity.
Either way, you can still give it a try. To proceed from a smartphone or tablet, start theMessenger app and log into your account (if necessary). Once this is done, press on yours profile picture, above, and then on the voice Status of activity. Finally, move up ON the lever Show when you are active, to activate this option (if you do not activate the function in question, you will not be able to see the activity status of other users).
At this point, press on the item People and check if the first name of the user you suspect has blocked you is in the list of active users on Messenger. In case of block you will not see the green dot indicating that the user is online and you will not even see the indicator relating to when he was last active (eg. Active now or Active 20 minutes ago).
Using the Messenger chat from Facebook instead and then acting as a web browser, you can view it Status of activity of friends through the section Contact yourself in the social network sidebar.
Therefore, log in to the Facebook site or do the login to the Messenger site and make sure you have activated it Status of activity (to see each other reciprocally). Then press the icon (…) in the Facebook sidebar located in correspondence with the section Contacts and click on the entry Activate the activity state. Acting from the site of Messenger, on the other hand, after pressing theicon (…) click on the item Preferences and then press the button Activate the activity state.
Once this is done, the names of those who have not blocked you, who have not deactivated it Activity status and which are currently online on Facebook will appear in the section Contacts and will be marked with a green dot next to their name.
Check the sending status of messages
Another element that can be useful for you to understand if you have been blocked on Messenger is to check it status of sending messages.
In case of blocking by a user, in fact, your message sent on Messenger to the user who has implemented the limitation will result as sent but not delivered and not even how displayed.
To carry out this verification you can act from smartphone And Tablet or from PC. In the first case, start theMessenger app and tap on chat with the user of your interest, to view the messages you have sent.
Then, press on a message to view the sending status: if a message is only sent and there is no wording displayed, then you may have actually been blocked.
You can also make sure from PC, by connecting to the official Facebook site (or from the official Messenge websiter) and then open the Messenger chat, using its icon located in the top bar. Once this is done, click on conversation with the user of your interest, to see the messages sent contained within.
Finally, move the mouse to the last message sent: in case of blocking, this could be marked by the wording sent and there will be no wording delivered or displayed.
Check the ability to make calls and video calls
An additional indicator that a person may have blocked you on Messenger is the inability to perform voice and video calls. A user who has blocked you on Messenger will not be able to receive calls or video calls from you.
Therefore, start theMessenger app for smartphones and tablets or open the Messenger chat from PC, connecting to Facebook or al Messenger official website. Once this is done, go to the conversation with the user of your interest and press the icon handset or that of video camera, to try to make a voice or video call.
In case of block, in fact, you will be indicated that the user is not reachable or that does not receive voice or video calls (from smartphone) and that there is no answer (from PC).
How to contact a person who blocked you on Messenger
Would you like to contact the person you think has blocked you, to seek clarification on the matter, but you don’t know how to do it? In this case, you must take into consideration that the fact that a person has blocked you on Messenger does not mean that you cannot contact that person in an alternative way.
For example if you have his phone number you can call her, send her a classic SMS or, again, write them on WhatsApp. Alternatively, you can also get in touch with the person of your interest using other messaging apps, such as Telegram or Skype.
