You have already tried to ask for the help of friends and relatives but no one seems particularly knowledgeable on the subject and here you are, therefore, on one of my tutorials in search of a solution. How do you say? Did I just describe exactly what your situation is? Optimal! Then I can only advise you to continue with the next lines of this guide.

How to Transfer Facebook from One Phone to Another: Android

Before going to show you in detail how to transfer Facebook from one phone to another on Android, I would like to point out that when you initially configure (and also subsequently, at any time) a new device by associating it with your Google account, you are offered the possibility of synchronizing any backups stored in the cloud, if any. The latter can also contain a copy of the applications you used on your old smartphone, so you can recover the “old” apps without problems.

For details on this procedure, I refer you to my tutorials on how to make an Android backup and how Google One works (the service currently used by “Big G” to store backups). If, as I suspect, you have not used this possibility, read on to find out how to get “your” Facebook back.

Preliminary operations

Facebook browser account recovery

Once you have downloaded the Facebook application on your new device (I will explain in detail in the next chapter how to carry out this step) when you start it you will be prompted for the login credentials of your account ( email or telephone number and password ) to start using it. Once you have logged in you can then find your news section, your Diary page, your photos and much more just as they were on your old smartphone.

In short: it will be just like “transferring” the application from one phone to another. In case you have problems logging into your Facebook account, I will now explain how to retrieve the access data for login (you will need to remember at least the telephone number associated with your account or its e-mail address or even the name and the last name of your profile).

However, to store and keep safe your login data for applications in general, my advice is to use a password manager . I told you specifically about these useful applications in my guide on how to remember passwords.

To retrieve your Facebook login credentials you can use the same social network app or any browser. If, you intend to proceed with the Facebook app, after opening the login page and pressing the Forgot password? , type the phone number associated with your profile in the field above or click on Search based on your e-mail address and enter the latter in the appropriate field.

Once this is done, click on the item Get the code and then click on the Continue button . Therefore, depending on your choice, check between the SMS on your device or the e-mail address associated with the indicated address (also take a look at the Spam or Junk E-mail folders if you do not find a message from Facebook ), then type the code of 6 digits and received awards on the button Continue . Finally, create a new password, tap the Continue button and you are ready to use your account.

It wasn’t that complicated, was it? If you want, instead, via the browser, just click here and click on Find your account . At this point, type the phone number associated with your account in the appropriate field and press the Search button . Your account name and profile picture will be shown below. To continue, first press on the Continue item , then on the item Try another method and, finally, tap on the text Send code via SMS .

Now enter the 6-digit code received via SMS and press the Continue button . At this point you will need to create a new password of at least six characters (I suggest you write it down in a safe place). Once this is done, press the Next button and that’s it.

If you do not remember the telephone number associated with your account, in the initial step of the procedure, press on the item Search based on your e-mail address or name , then type one of these two data in the field at the top and press on Search button . From here, click on the item Try another method .

Select, then, the voice Send code by e-mail , press the button Continue and then enter the code of 6 digits in the appropriate field by repeating the above steps (if you no longer have access to the email address indicated on the awards item Can’t access it anymore? and enter a new valid email address that you can have access to).

If you need further help with these procedures, please take a look at my guide on how to recover Facebook accounts.

Before proceeding further, also make sure that you have synchronized your contacts with the Google account in use on the device: in this way you can also find them on your new phone. To do this, access the Android settings by tapping on the gear icon found in the notification area, on the home screen or in the app menu and then go to Google> [your address]> Backup> Account data Google .

Make sure, at this point, that the checkbox is shown next to the Contacts item (if not, tap the appropriate box ), then press on the Other item at the bottom and, from here, tap the word Synchronize now . That’s all! For more details on this procedure, please take a look at my tutorial on how to save contacts on Google.

Transfer Facebook to a phone with Play Store

Facebook login

Now that you have your login credentials, it is time to download the official Facebook application on the other device you intend to use and log in on it. To get the app in question, all you have to do is open this page of the Play Store and press the Install button .

Once the download of the application has been completed, start it and enter the email address or telephone number associated with your account and the relative password in the upper compilation field , then press the Login button .

Then decide whether to save your login information or not (in the first case, press the OK button, otherwise tap the Not now button ) in order to avoid having to type in your credentials in the future each time you log in. Done! Now you can explore the news section and you will notice that it is exactly the same as it was on your device; the same goes for your profile page (which you can access by clicking on your profile photo at the top left), your posts, the groups you are subscribed to and so on.

Do you want to resume chatting with your Facebook contacts? Very well, then you will also have to download the Messenger application . To do this, visit the appropriate Play Store download page and press the Install button . After starting the app, press the Continue button as [your account name] and then press the Activate button to synchronize the telephone contacts stored in the address book of your device (if you followed the instructions I gave you in the penultimate paragraph of the previous chapter in your address book will also contain the contacts saved on your Google account).

Press, therefore, on the Allow button to allow the app to access your contacts and at this point you also decide whether to receive SMS on Messenger or not by pressing the appropriate buttons at the bottom of the page. Did you already use the Messenger app on your device and want to check that the synchronization of the contacts stored in your phone book is active?

In this case, just start the app, tap on your profile photo located at the top left and from here go to Phone contacts> Upload contacts and make sure that the item Deactivate is shown (if not, just press on the labeled Enable ). For more details on these procedures click here.

Transfer Facebook to a phone without Play Store

Amazon Appstore

How do you say? Doesn’t the device you use and to which you would like to “transfer” Facebook have access to Google services ? Don’t despair! You can also install Facebook in this case thanks to the various alternative stores currently available. In this case, I suggest you use Amazon’s virtual app store, the Amazon Appstore . To install it, just tap here and press the Download Amazon Appstore button . For more details on the procedure read my tutorial.

From the Amazon Appstore you can download the Facebook application just like from the Play Store and log into it as I indicated in the previous chapter . If you have problems with the Amazon store you can also try the other virtual showcases I told you about in my tutorial on how to install apps on HUAWEI (also on these other alternative stores you can install Facebook via APK).

How to Transfer Facebook from One Phone to Another – iPhone

Facebook logo

If you are trying to transfer Facebook from an old iPhone to a new one , you can first use the iPhone backup system on iCloud or on your computer to copy data and apps from your previous “iPhone by”, but if you are reading this guide it seems clear to me that you skipped this step during the activation phase of the new iPhone, so do not panic and read how to “recover” Facebook at a later time thanks to the instructions you find below.

Preliminary operations

Facebook

Once you have downloaded the Facebook application on the new device you intend to use (I will show you how to carry out this step in the next chapter ), just log in with your account access data to find the news section, all the posts of your friends, your profile, your content and more. In this way, the Facebook you are going to use on your new device will be totally identical to the one you used on the previous device.

It goes without saying, therefore, that to ensure that everything goes well, you will need to remember the login credentials to your account . If this is not the case, I refer you to the chapter on Android , in which I explained how to do it (the steps to take are the same).

As for the contacts , however, you must make sure that you have synchronized your address book with iCloud on the old iPhone: in this way you can also find them on the other phone you will use and, possibly, you can import them on the Facebook instant messaging application, that is Messenger .

To do this, open the settings of your “iPhone by” on the gear icon on the home screen or in the app Library and press on your username . Next, tap on the word iCloud and make sure that the switch lever next to the Contacts item is moved to ON . If this is not the case, a simple tap on the switch itself is enough to fix it. Easier than that ?!

If, on the other hand, you used the synchronization of Google contacts on the old iPhone, be sure to repeat the association also on the new “iPhone by”, as explained here.

Transfer Facebook to another iPhone

Facebook iPhone

To proceed, now that you have the data to access your Facebook account, you just have to download the official application of the social network on the new iPhone on which you want to “transfer” the app itself. To obtain the latter, visit the appropriate download page of the App Store and press the Get / Install button . Once this is done, verify your identity via Face ID , Touch ID or Apple ID password (if necessary).

Once the download is complete, start the app and enter the email address or telephone number of your account and the relative password in the appropriate fields . Finally, click on the Login button and choose whether or not to save your login information by pressing the appropriate buttons located at the bottom (in this way you will avoid having to enter your credentials in the future at each new login).

Perfect! Now you just need a quick glance at the app to verify that it is identical in all respects to the one you used before: you will find the news section, the posts of your friends, your posts and the groups you are subscribed to and so on. Street. If you want to go back to chat with your Facebook contacts you will obviously also have to download the Messenger application , which you can always find on the App Store and can be downloaded with the “usual” procedure.

In this way, the contacts in the address book of your “iPhone by” will be immediately imported to Messenger (to include the contacts stored on your other device in iCloud or Gmail , just follow the steps I listed in the penultimate paragraph of the previous chapter ). Of course, you give the app permission to access your contacts .

If the Messenger app was already installed on the other device you want to use, you can check that the synchronization of contacts in the address book is active by tapping on your profile photo at the top left and from here by going to Phone contacts> Upload contacts .

Make sure, therefore, that the item Deactivate is shown : if not, press the Activate button . For more details on these procedures read my tutorial on how to see the phone number on Messenger.
