How to take screenshot on Xiaomi

Smartphones Xiaomi, as you surely know, they come with a particular version of Android, called MIUI. For this reason, the steps necessary to be able to photograph the screen of the aforementioned terminals are not very different from those dedicated to other devices based on the Google operating system, and, I’ll tell you more, they are just as practical: below I illustrate the simplest ones. to put into practice. Remember that, regardless of the method used, the captured screenshots are saved in the folder Images of the device.

Key combination

Without a shadow of a doubt, the easiest way to screenshot on Xiaomi is to use the key combination factory default.

In practice, all you need to do is open the screen of the app, site or menu you intend to photograph, and then simultaneously press and hold the keys Volume Down + Poweruntil the device emits a sound and takes a real picture of the screen.

If everything went well, you should see the preview of the “float” screen, for a moment, in the upper right corner of the display.

By tapping on the screen, you will be immediately taken to the image management screen, through which you can send it, modify it (by cropping the image, adding text or obscuring some parts with the mosaic effect) or delete it, using the buttons located below.

Note: in some cases, for example in the login data entry screens, the apps in use may block the capture of screenshots. On the aforementioned occasions, this will be notified to you via a specific message that will appear in the notifications menu.

Notification area

Another efficient method to photograph the screen of a Xiaomi terminal is to use the relative one quick toggle, i.e. the appropriate function button present, by default, in the Android notification area.

How does it work? I’ll explain it to you right away. First, display the app, menu or function you are interested in photographing on the screen, then call up thenotification area of MIUI by swiping from the top to the center of the screen and tap the button Screenshots (the one with the scissors on screen), which appears within it.

If everything went well, after a few moments, you should see the preview of the photo just taken floating in the upper right corner of the screen; if you are quick enough to press on it, you will see the app dedicated to managing screenshots, through which you can edit, share or delete the image you just created.

If the “Screenshot” button is not visible, you can quickly add it to the quick toggle area: after calling up the MIUI notification area, swipe to the left and tap the button Edit displayed on the screen.

Finally, take, with a long tap, the Screenshot button from the area dedicated to the inactive toggles (the darker one), and drag it to the area dedicated to the displayed toggles (the lighter one). Once you have chosen the position that suits you best, release the button and tap the button Done, to confirm the change.

Gesture

If you are using a fairly recent version of MIUI (from 9 onwards), you can enable the capture of screenshots through a practice gesture to be performed on the screen.

Proceeding in this way is really very simple: first, open the Settings operating system, by touching the icon in the shape ofgear located in the drawer, then select the item Additional settings attached to the box System and device and then tap on the option Shortcuts keys and gestures.

At this point, you just have to touch the voice Take a screenshot and set the next menu to the option Drag down with 3 fingers: From now on, as shown in the example animation, you can take screenshots by quickly dragging 3 fingers from top to center screen.

If you wish, you can use the same menu to make screenshots be captured using a different key combination (e.g. long key press Home, Menu, Backards and so on). Note that Android’s default key combination will always remain active.
