That’s the way it is, right? Then know that today is your lucky day!
In the next paragraphs of this guide, in fact, I will have the opportunity to explain to you how to start a video conference with Meet using the web version of the service, available for all major web browsers, and from apps for smartphones and tablets. Regardless of the device you decide to use, I guarantee you that starting a meeting with Meet is anything but complicated and that you can also start with people who use different devices.

What is Google Meet
Before seeing in detail how to start a video conference with Meetit seems only right to provide you with some more information about this Google home service, thus explaining to you what is Google Meet.
As already mentioned above, Google Meet is nothing more than a videoconferencing platform developed by Google that allows you to participate in existing “virtual meetings” or create new ones for free. In the past, the service allowed you to create new meetings and invite other users to join them only if you had a subscription to the service G Suite (a solution designed for companies, which I have already told you about in this other guide). From May 2020However, these functions can be used by anyone with a Google account.
Google Meet allows you to make video conferences of 60 minutes and with a maximum of 100 participants for private users; for companies there is no limit on the length of conferences, which can be done with a maximum of 250 participants.
How to start a video conference with Meet on a computer
If you want to know how to start a video conference with Meet on a computeryou will be pleased to know that you do not have to download any additional programs on your PC, as the service is available for different browsers, namely Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge and Safari.
To proceed, then, go to home page of Meet, click the link Log in which is located in the upper right corner and, if you have not already done so, log in to your Google account. Now, click on the button Start a meeting and grant Meet permission to access the webcam and al microphone computer: a fundamental operation to be able to interact with the other participants in the videoconference.
Then click on the button Get involved and, on the page that opens, click the button Copy info for participationso that you can copy the link to share with users you want to invite to the meeting. If you want, you can click on the button Add people and send the invitation to the people of your interest via email.
Do you want to participate in a video conference you have been invited to? To do this, provide the meeting code in the appropriate text field and click on the button Get involved placed on the right. If you have received a invitation linkthings get even simpler: just click on it and press the button Get involved placed on the right. Easier than that ?!
Once the conference has started, you can click on the microphone or of the video camera to manage the computer’s microphone and webcam; while clicking on the icon of the red handset you can close or abandon the call.
Ah… I almost forgot! Google Meet can also be reached from Gmail. You can use this by logging into Gmail on his main page and clicking the button Start meeting or on the button Attend a meeting located on the left sidebar, under the heading Meet. Convenient, right?
How to start a video conference with Meet on smartphones and tablets
If you prefer start a video conference with Meet on smartphones and tabletsyou can use the official app of the service for mobile devices Android And iOS / iPadOS. Let me tell you how to use it.
If you want to proceed on Androidinstall and run theMeet official app on your device, press the button Go on and grant it all the permissions it needs to function properly, such as those relating to access to the microphone and to camera of the device. Then tap the button Log in and log in to your Google account (if you do not see the button in question, it means that you are already logged in).
To create a new conference, then, press the button (+) New meeting located on the left of the screen. As you can see, in the box Add others that appeared on the screen shows the link to send to users you want to join the meeting.
In case you have already closed the box in question, know that you can find the link of the videoconference by pressing the tab (the) on the right. To share the information you need to attend the meeting, you can press the button Share placed under the link or copy and paste them “manually” to send them in a chat.
If you have been invited to participate in a video conference on Meet, press the button instead Meeting codetype the code that was provided to you by the videoconference organizer in the appropriate text field and click on the button Attend the meeting. You just have to wait for the creator of the meeting to accept you in it.
Once the conference has started, you can press the icon of microphone or of the video camera (if you don’t see them, tap anywhere on the screen), so you can manage the microphone and camera of the device in use. To abandon, close or abandon the call, instead, press the button depicting the red handset.
iOS / iPadOS
If you want to proceed on iOS / iPadOS you have to follow practically the same steps that I gave you in chapter on Android. Provide, therefore, to install and start theMeet official app on your device (if you have not already done so), tap the button Go on and grant it the necessary permissions to make it work properly, such as those inherent microphone And camera. Then, click on the button Log in and log in to your Google account (if you do not see the button in question, you are obviously already logged in).
To create the conference, then, tap the button (+) New meeting located at the bottom of the screen. In the box that appeared on the screen there is the link to be sent to the users you want to invite to the meeting, also visible by pressing the button (the) located on the right. To share your video conference login information, you can press the button Share placed immediately below the link or, if you prefer, copy and paste it “manually”.
In case you have been invited to participate in a video conference on Meet, instead, press the button Meeting codeprovide the code that was provided to you by the videoconference organizer in the appropriate text field, press the button Attend the meeting and wait for the meeting creator to welcome you into the room. It wasn’t difficult, was it?
Once the conference has started, you can press on the symbol of microphone or of the video camera (if you don’t see them, tap anywhere on the screen) to manage your device’s microphone and camera. To leave, close or leave the conference, instead, tap the button depicting the red handset.
