Before going into detail on the procedure on how to share the screen on Fortnite , I think you may be interested to know more about the split screen mode.
Well, the latter allows 2 people to play Epic Games Battle Royale simultaneously on the same screen . Put simply, you can invite a friend to your home, give him a controller and challenge the other teams on the servers with him .
In this mode, the screen is divided in half : at the top there is the screen of the first player (the landlord), while at the bottom there is the guest’s view . To avoid not exactly pleasant visual effects, the developers have positioned character icons in the upper right and lower left, in order to allow users not to get confused between one view and another.
Clearly, each player will earn their points and advance their account level . In short, everything takes place as in a common game of Battle Royale mode , only that the screen is shared and is played in a team with your friend. In this regard, the only games supported by this feature are Pairs and Teams .
At the beginning of the match in couples mode (the one that seems to be appreciated by more people, since you only team up with your friend), when you are still on the flying bus and the only thing you can do is thank the driver , the players are informed of who is the leader of the Skydive with a message that appears on the screen (usually, it is the owner of the house, but it is possible to pass the role to the other user at any time).
The user who will have this role will also choose for his partner when parachuting from the flying bus and the other player will automatically follow the path decided by the leader until the use of the hang glider .
In the event that one of the two players is defeated , it will be possible for the other user to recover his reboot card . The latter must be brought to the appropriate van to resurrect your partner. Clearly, the winner is the one who defeats all the other players using the weapons and objects found on the map , in the same way as in the classic Battle Royale mode .
Once the game is over , the first player can decide whether to start another immediately , go to the object shop , continue to see the match as a spectator or return to the lobby . In this regard, once back to the main screen, the second user can take control to take a look at the rewards he has received and customize his character with the right skins .
The word PLAYER 2 will appear on the screen , at the bottom, and the latter will be able to access the classic PASS BATTLE , CHALLENGES , CABINET , OBJECTS STORE , CAREER and V-BUCK cards . Once the “changes” are finished, to return to play, the first player will have to regain control .
How to share the screen on Fortnite PS4
After explaining what can be done in split screen mode , I would say that you are ready to proceed with the configuration of this feature on your PlayStation 4.
Well, the first trick you need to take is to turn on the second controller and log in to a second account before you even start Fortnite . In fact, it appears that the game cannot detect the secondary pad when it is already in the main menu. To proceed, press the PS button and select the secondary profile .
As you may have already guessed, you therefore need to have 2 accounts on your console , the main one you usually use and the one to be made available to the guest . However, the second local account must also be registered with PlayStation Network to play online . Don’t worry though: you don’t need to have the PlayStation Plus and you can do this simply by using free accounts .
If you don’t have a secondary profile yet , I suggest you consult my guide on how to create a PS4 account , where you can find all the details of the case, from the creation of the local account up to its configuration to be enabled to access PlayStation Network .
Once you have successfully logged into the appropriate account with the second controller, return to the main player screen and start Fortnite . Then enter the Battle Royale mode and select COUPLES or TEAMS as the type of game. At this point, if everything was done correctly, the option inviting the second user to log in should appear at the bottom right .
You then need to hold the X button on the second controller . In case you have not yet configured the second account to play Epic Games Battle Royale, you will be asked to choose whether to connect an Epic Games account to the second profile or to skip this step and create an account associated only with the console . In this case, if you have no particular needs, my advice is to press first on the item SKIP THIS and then on that NO, THANKS. PLAY FORTNITE .
In this way, you won’t have to put up with a new account and you can start playing immediately, but later you may have problems “exporting” the profile to a console other than the one you are playing in. However, the secondary account is typically used only to play this type of mode and therefore you shouldn’t have any particular problems. For more details on how profiles are managed, I invite you to consult my tutorial on how to change accounts on Fortnite PS4 .
At this point, the second player should have appeared in the lobby . You just have to start a game and enjoy the split screen mode . Keep in mind that, in case you have set up a new secondary account , in certain situations the tutorial screens that introduce the game may appear .
This procedure is also valid for Xbox One , although clearly there are some small differences. For example, instead of the X button, the A button of the controller must obviously be used . In addition, at least one of the two accounts must have an Xbox Live Gold membership to play online on the Microsoft console .
How do you share the screen on Fortnite on other platforms
How do you say? Do you usually play Fortnite on PC , Nintendo Switch or mobile devices ? Well, in this case there is unfortunately not much to do.
In fact, the developers have not yet implemented the split screen mode on these platforms and therefore it is not possible to play in multiple people on the same screen. However, the last word is not yet said and it seems that this feature may arrive in the future , at least for PC and Nintendo Switch.
From this point of view you can not help but wait for more information directly from Epic Games. In any case, since you are interested in Fortnite, I would advise you to take a look at the page of my site dedicated to Epic Games’ Battle Royale .
