As I told you at the beginning of the guide, this is feasible both by exploiting the predefined functions of your device that I use third party apps used to block unwanted calls and SMS.

Predefined functions

If you have previously blocked contacts using the predefined functions offered by your device, the first step you need to take to see the list of blocked numbers on Android is to access the home screen of your smartphone and tap on the app icon Phone (the one with the green handset raised).

In the new screen that you now see, tap the button Menu (usually it is the one with the three dots vertically at the top), select the item Settings and touches the wording Block numbers. Subsequently, you will find yourself in front of the list of all the numbers that you have blocked on your device. It was easy, wasn’t it?

In addition to this, as I have just indicated, you can also view the blocked numbers on Android via the app Messages. So, tap on the relative icon (the one with the comic book) found on the home screen, press the button Menu (usually it is the one with the three dots vertically) located at the top and select the item Settings, then touch the words Block messages And Block numbers and you will be able to view the blacklist.

Note: some of the items related to the menus and options to be selected may differ slightly from what is shown above, depending on the version of Android and the make / model of the device you are using. For your knowledge, I used a Samsung Galaxy S6 updated to Android 7.0.

If you have not used the default Android functions to block certain numbers on your smartphone, but you have turned to one of the many specific apps to avoid calls and SMS from annoying contacts (e.g. the ones I reported to you in my guides on how to block unwanted calls and how to block SMS on Android), the instructions you must follow to access the blacklist are the ones you find below.

  • Truecaller – start the app by touching the relevant one icon (the one with the white background and the blue handset) on the home screen or in the drawer of your device, select the item Block located at the bottom of the display and select the wording My unwanted list.
  • Should I answer? – open the app, selecting its icon (the one with the tentacle and the purple cornet) located on the home screen or in the drawer of your device, select the item Recent located at the bottom, tap the button with i three dots vertically located at the top right and choose the item Show blocked from the menu that appears.
  • Calls Blacklist – start the app by tapping on the relevant one icon (the one with the red shield and the crossed-out telephone receiver) present on the home screen or in the drawer of your device and select the item Register located at the top of the displayed screen.
  • Call blocking – start the app by touching the relevant one icon (the one with the orange background, the black handset and the prohibition symbol) present on the home screen or in the drawer of your device and select the tab Blacklist that you find at the top of the proposed screen.

How to unlock numbers on Android

You have finally managed to see the list of blocked numbers on Android and now you would like to understand how to proceed to be able to them to unlock? I anticipate that it is very simple!

If you have used the predefined Android functions to block certain numbers, you can remove the contacts of your interest from the black list by proceeding as follows: take your mobile phone, unlock it, access the home screen and tap on the application icon Phone.

At this point, press the button Menu located at the top, select the item Settings from the menu that opens and tap on the wording Block numbers. Therefore, identify the number you want to unblock from the list that is proposed to you, press the button (-) located in its correspondence and that’s it.

You can unblock blocked numbers on Android via the app as well Messages. To do this, open the latter by tapping on the relative icon present on the home screen, touch the button Menu located at the top of the screen and tap on the item Settings. Next, select the wording Block messages, then that Block numbers and press the button (-) located next to the contact you want to remove from the blacklist.

Note: also in this case, keep in mind that some of the items relating to the menus and options to be selected that I have reported to you may be slightly different from what you see on the smartphone screen, depending on the version of Android used and the make and model model of the device. For your information, I used a Samsung Galaxy S6 updated to Android 7.0.

  • Truecaller – start the app by touching the relevant one icon present on the home screen or in the drawer of your device, select the item Block located at the bottom of the display and then the wording My unwanted list. At this point, click on the symbol (-) that you find next to the contact to unblock and tap on the item Yup in response to the warning that appears on the display, to confirm your intentions.
  • Should I answer? – open the app, selecting its icon located on the home screen or in the drawer of your device, select the item Recent located at the bottom, press the button with i three dots vertically located at the top right and choose the item Show blocked from the menu that appears. Then, select the contact to unblock and press the red button Stuck present in the next screen.
  • Calls Blacklist – open the application by tapping its icon located on the home screen or in the drawer of your device, and select the item Register which is located at the top of the screen that is shown to you, then select the contact to unblock and tap on the item Cancel, to confirm your intentions. If you want to remove all the contacts at the same time, instead, press the button with the dustbin at the bottom right and touch the wording Yup in response to the warning that appeared on the display.
  • Call blocking – start the app by tapping on the relevant one icon located on the home screen or in the drawer of your device, and select the tab Blacklist that you find at the top of the display. Next, put a check mark on the box located next to all the contacts you want to unblock and press the button Cancel at the bottom right.
