Now I’ll explain how.

First, find a GIF of your liking and, as soon as you find it, keep your finger pressed on it until the menu containing the options for sharing and saving the images appears. After that, tap on the voice Download image and as for “magic”, the GIF will be automatically saved to the camera roll on your device (you should find it in the folder Download of the tunnel).

The first app that I recommend you download on your Android device is GIPHY, the official application of the most famous GIF site in the world. It is a 100% free solution also available for devices iOS and, of course it is, in the form of online service. Its interface is really very minimal and this makes its use particularly simple and intuitive.

After downloading GIPHY on your smartphone or tablet, start the app and press the symbol x to close the information sheets that are shown when it starts. Then scroll the GIPHY main screen to view the most popular GIFs of the moment or, if you prefer, search for one by pressing on the search bar and writing the description of the image you want to download (use English terms, you will find many more results).

As soon as you have found the GIF that best suits you, press it to view a preview and, in the screen that opens, tap on the symbol (…) to open the submenu containing the various save and share options available. At this point, press on the symbol of arrow to start downloading the animated GIF and, in the box that appears, tap on the item Yes to confirm the operation. The app is totally free and is also available on iOS and in the form of online service (in this case you can simply download the GIFs).

After completing the download of GIF Keyboard by Tenor on your smartphone or Android tablet, start the app, press on the option Next and give your consent to allow Tenor to have access to your device by pressing on the voice Allow in the box that appears.

Now, to use GIFs directly from the keyboard of your device, you must first go to the settings of your device and enable this function. Therefore, launch the app Settings (the icon with the gear located on the home screen of your device), presses on the item Language and keyboard and, in the screen that appears on the screen, tap on the item Current keyboard and then on the voice Select more. Then move up ON the switch lever located near the item Tenor GIF Keyboard and, to complete the operation, tap again on the voice Current keyboard and affix the check next to the option Tenor GIF Keyboard. After capturing the images to be used for the “construction” of the GIF, you should see one below white arrow pointing upwards: press on it and, as if by “magic”, you will preview your personalized GIF!

To save the GIF you have just made, press on its preview, press the symbol blue arrow on white background and, in the menu that appears on the screen, tap on the item GIF. At this point, you should see the save and share menu: presses on the item Save to the gallery if you want to save the image on your device, or share it with your friends by selecting one of the social networks available.

How to save GIFs on Android

Would you like to save the animated GIFs you find on Facebook or that they send you on Whatsapp? Nothing impossible. Here are some quick tips on how to save GIFs on Android starting from messaging apps and social networks.

  • Facebook – if you want to save a GIF from Facebook, press on the link below it, tap on the symbol (…) located at the top right and use the sharing menu for open the GIF with Chrome (or in any case with a web browser). Then keep your finger pressed on the GIF displayed in the browser and select the item Download image from the menu that opens.   • Whatsapp – if you want to save a GIF from WhatsApp, select the discussion in which the image of your interest is contained, tap twice on the latter (in order to enlarge it), press the button (…) located at the top right and select the option Share. Then choose the destination app for the GIF (e.g. Dropbox or Google Photos) And that’s it. The GIF will be saved as an MP4 file and not as a GIF. Alternatively you can also go to the folder WhatsApp> Media> WhatsApp Animated Your device: there you will find all the GIF sent and received (again in MP4 format).
  • Telegram – to save a GIF from Telegram, open the chat that contains the image, press on the icon (…) at the top right and select the item Save to GIF from the menu that opens.
