How to rename AirPods: After hearing about it from all your friends, you finally made up your mind and bought a pair of AirPods, Apple’s renowned Bluetooth headsets. You are quite satisfied with your new purchase, except that there are still some functions and features of the product that are not clear to you. For example, you would really like to customize the name of your AirPods but you just know how to do this.
How do you say? That’s the way it is and you ask yourself how to rename AirPods? In that case, don’t worry, because in the next chapters of this tutorial I will give you all the information you need. I will explain not only how to act from iPhone and iPad, but also how to reach your goal from an Android smartphone or tablet or from a computer, Windows or Mac.

Before explaining to you how to rename AirPods, I must provide you with some preliminary information relating to the correct completion of this operation. In the specific case of the name change, however, I must also specify that on iPhone, iPad And Mac the operation involves the actual modification of the ID of the AirPods. This means that by renaming the AirPods, the new name will be shown on all devices.
On the contrary, by intervening through devices with an operating system Android or Windowsthis change will only be local and, therefore, will be displayed only by the device with which the name change was made (the AirPods, therefore, will keep their original name when connected to other devices).

How to rename AirPods on smartphones and tablets
You can easily and quickly rename the AirPods on iPhone And iPadbut also on smartphones and tablets equipped with the operating system Android. In this regard, to succeed in this intent, follow the instructions found in the next lines.
iPhone / iPad
To rename the AirPods on iPhone or iPadfirst make sure you have connected, via Bluetooth, Apple’s earphones to the device you intend to use to rename them. In this regard, if you do not know how to proceed to carry out the operation in question, please refer to my tutorial dedicated to the topic.
After connecting the AirPods to your smartphone or tablet, press the icon (the) located at the device name in the section dedicated to Bluetooth settings. Now, in the menu that is shown to you, press on the item First nametype the new name you want to give to the AirPods, in the text field you see on the screen, and press the button end on the keyboard.
Finally, all you have to do is go back to the main menu by pressing onarrow icon to the left, and that’s it. You didn’t think it would be that easy, did you?
You can rename the AirPods even via a smartphone or tablet Androidin case you want to change the name of the earphones to recognize them more easily, when you connect them to the latter.
Having said that, to succeed in this intent, make sure you have correctly connected the AirPods to the Bluetooth of your device, through the appropriate section of the settings of Android. After connecting the AirPods to Androidpress ongear icon located in correspondence with the name of the same (in the Bluetooth menu (and, in the next menu that is shown to you, press on the item Rename. Then type the new name you want to give to the earphones and confirm the changes made by pressing the button Ok.
How to rename AirPods on PC
Wondering how to rename AirPods on PCas you would like to change the name of the latter when using them on Mac or up Windows? In this case, do not worry and carefully follow the instructions I am about to give you, to succeed in the intent you have proposed.
If you have connected the AirPods to the Macyou can act through the same Bluetooth connection panel, to rename the headphones.
In this regard, first make sure that the Apple headphones are connected to the Mac (if you don’t know how to proceed, read this tutorial of mine), then open System Preferences (L’gear icon present on the Dock bar) and click on the entry Bluetoothin the window that opens.
Now, do it right click on name of the earphones and, in the context menu that is shown to you, click on the item Rename. Finally, type the new name you intend to give to the AirPods and confirm the operation by pressing the button Rename.
You can also rename the AirPods by acting from Windows, as these can also be connected and used on computers equipped with the famous Microsoft operating system. The steps to take are the same as above Windows 10 and on previous versions of the system, such as Windows 8.x or Windows 7.
Having said that, to get started, make sure you have connected the earphones to the computer’s Bluetooth, using the appropriate menu of settings. After that, to rename the AirPods on Windowsopen the Control panelby looking for it in the menu Start and selecting the first occurrence found.
In the new window that opens, click on the entry Hardware and sound and then on Devices and printersthen locate the AirPods in the list of connected devices, right click on them first name and choose the item Property from the context menu.
Almost there – now click on the tab Bluetoothso you can see theAirPods icon and its default name. Therefore, use the text field visible on the screen to rename the Apple earphones and confirm the change by pressing the button Apply.
To conclude the operation, close the window relating to the Bluetooth properties. Then, to see the changes made, disconnect the AirPods from Bluetooth and reconnect them, so that you are shown the changed name.
