How do you rename a link
Having clarified all the preliminary information above, let’s get down to business and see, together, how to rename a link using some online services, called URL shortener, fit for purpose.
The first solution I recommend you try to rename your links is Bit.ly, an online service that can be used free of charge. If desired, it is also possible to subscribe to a subscription plan, starting from $ 29 / month, which allows you to take advantage of some advanced features designed for companies.
After connecting to the Bit.ly main page, paste the URL of your interest in the text field Shorten your link and click on the button Shorten. Within a few seconds, a box will appear with the abbreviated address relating to the URL you just pasted (eg. https://bit.ly/2ln6lJp).
If you want to customize the link and transform its final part (the one after bit.ly) in a full sense, you have to create an account. Then click on the button Get Started for Free located on the left and, on the page that opens, click once again on the button Get Started for Free.
Next, click the button Sign up with Google to register with Bit.ly using your Google account or fill out the form you see on the screen providing username, email address And password, and click on the button Sign up with Email, to register via email.
Now generate your shortened link and, to customize it, select it. After that you have to type the words with which you want to replace the original URL and click on the button Save located on the right (bottom), to save the changes.
Now all you have to do is close the sidebar on the right by clicking on (x) and, on the main Bit.ly page, click on the button Copy placed in correspondence with the link created just now, to share it with whoever you want.
UrLy is another useful service for shortening and renaming links. Its user interface, “clean” and minimal, make it particularly easy to use. It works for free even without registration. By creating an account, however, you can keep track of shortened and shared links. Unlike Bit.ly, it does not allow you to rename the links generated, so you have to settle for those automatically assigned by the service.
To use Urly, connect to his home page It is in the text field placed in the center of the page, paste the URL you want to shorten. Then click on the button Shorten And that’s it.
Now you can copy the link (via the button Copy) and share it on Facebook And Twitter by clicking on the appropriate buttons, or you can generate a QR code by clicking on the button QR Code.
Also TinyURL allows you to rename links in a very simple way, without making any registration and without having to give up the ability to customize the shortened address with text to your liking.
To use it, connect to his main page, enter the web address you intend to rename in the text field Enter a long URL to make tiny and, if you wish, customize the final wording of the URL by typing the text of your interest in the text field Custom alias (optional).
Once this is done, click on the button Make TinyURL! And that’s it. On the page that opens at this point, you will see the new link renamed and shortened. Then copy the URL (by clicking on the button [Copy to clipboard]) and / or test the link (by clicking on the button [Open in new windows]), to see if it links to the correct address.
