How to remove the pointer on Huawei: You recently bought a brand new smartphone Huawei and you are happy with its excellent performance. However, you have noticed that on the display there is a pointer that, by touching it, allows navigation on the screen. You have guessed that this feature can be useful, especially since the display is large enough but, unfortunately, it only complicates your life as it ruins the experience of using the device.

Looking through the Android settings, you couldn’t find the one that helps you disable this feature and you are desperate because you don’t know how to get rid of it. Tell me: are you sure you have searched well? I’ll tell you: no, but don’t despair, because I’m here to help you. In fact, in this guide of mine, I will illustrate you how to remove the pointer on huawei, so you can use the smartphone normally.

Also, if your device supports desktop mode, I’ll explain how to make the mouse pointer disappear as well. If, on the other hand, you want to disable the pointer track while typing letters on the virtual keyboard, I will explain how to stop using the swipe typing function. If you are curious to discover the advice I have prepared for you, sit comfortably, take your Huawei smartphone and put into practice the procedures you will read in the next paragraphs: I’m sure you will be satisfied!

Remove the Quick Menu cursor

If you are going to remove the Quick Menu cursor that is shown to you on the display of your Huawei smartphone, in the following lines I will show you the two methods you can use to achieve this.

The first solution I want to recommend is to act through the settings of Android. To do this, tap on the icon with the symbol of a gear that you find on the home screen of the Huawei mobile phone.

After reaching the menu Settings, scroll down and locate the one named System. At this point, tap on the latter and press on the wording System navigation. You will find yourself in a screen where you can enable or disable some features of the smartphone, to improve navigation on the screen.

Now tap on the item Quick menu and move the lever from ON to OFF, in correspondence with the wording Quick menu. If you have correctly followed the procedure I have indicated, you will have disabled the navigation cursor from the smartphone display.

As an alternative to the method described above, you can disable the Quick menu by accessing the quick access options to the device features. To do this, simply swipe from top to bottom, near the top edge of the smartphone screen.

By doing so, you can display some icons for quick launch of some features, such as the Wifi, the Bluetooth oi Mobile data. If you tap on the icon with the symbol (˅), located at the top right, you can expand the list of icons for activating or deactivating Android features. You can also do another swipe from top to bottom to expand this menu.

Among the icons that are shown on the screen, locate the one with the wording Quick menu, which shows a color in shades of blue, which indicates that the cursor is enabled on the display. By tapping on this icon, you can quickly disable this feature, so as to remove the cursor from the screen of the Huawei smartphone. It was easy, wasn’t it?

Remove the mouse pointer from desktop mode

Some models of Huawei smartphones (such as the Huawei Mate 10 Pro) have the ability to enable the desktop mode, when connected to a monitor via HDMI. This feature allows you to use your smartphone as if it were a PC, without interrupting normal use of the mobile phone.

Desktop mode can be used if you have an external accessory that allows you to use the connector USB type-C to convert the signal and transmit it via HDMI. Some of these devices also have USB ports to connect external peripherals, such as keyboard and mouse, or SD slots for external memories.

Among the accessories that can help you use the desktop functionality on a Huawei smartphone, I suggest some in the list below, which you can consider for the purchase, also given the low cost of these devices.

When you are in desktop mode, as already mentioned, you can connect a keyboard and a mouse or use the smartphone display as a touchpad to move the cursor. The latter is always available on the screen to select items on the desktop.

If you need to play content and want to hide the pointer, simply remove your finger from the touchpad or do not touch the mouse for about ten seconds, so as to make the cursor disappear, without disturbing the playback.

Remove the keyboard cursor

When typing text via the virtual keyboard of the Huawei smartphone, you have noticed that sometimes the trace of the cursor appears when you press a letter or move between them without lifting your finger from the touch screen.

This feature, commonly called swipe typing, it can be annoying, also because it can cause, in some cases, the incorrect typing of words. In the next lines, therefore, I will show you how to disable this feature on the default keyboard of Huawei smartphones (SwiftKey) or if you use the Google keyboard (Gboard).

If you are using Huawei’s default keyboard, you can disable cursor tracking on the keyboard by turning off the feature Flow. The latter is a way of typing words that is performed by sliding the finger from one letter to another (without lifting it from the display) to compose a word.

If you are used to typing letters as you do on a computer keyboard, you may want to disable this feature. To do this, go to settings of Android, by tapping on the icon with the symbol of a gear that you find on the home screen of the mobile phone.

Once this is done, scroll through the items you see on the screen and tap on the one named System. In the new screen, choose the item Language and input, by tapping on it, and then presses on the wording SwiftKey keyboard.

Now, in the virtual keyboard settings menu, click on the button Typing and then tap on the item Typing and automatic correction. In the panel that is shown to you, then reach the entry Gesture insertion and tap on it.

Now, from the two options that are shown to you, choose the one named Gestures. If you have correctly followed the procedure I have indicated, you have disabled the trace of the cursor when you type the letters on the keyboard. By doing this, you have also disabled the swipe typing, for which you will have to type the words by pressing the keys of the individual letters, as you are used to with the computer keyboard.

If you’re not comfortable with the default Huawei keyboard, which I told you about in the previous paragraph, you probably have installed Gboard, the virtual keyboard developed by Google. This is very useful if you want to search the Internet quickly while using an app, without having to open the browser. In addition, it has several other features, such as the insertion of stickers and GIFs or the real-time translation of what is typed.

The Google keyboard also has the function of swipe typing, which shows the trace of the cursor every time you move from one letter to another, without taking your finger off the touch screen. To disable this feature, go to Settings of Android, by tapping on the icon with the symbol of a gear, present on the home screen.

Scroll through the items that are shown to you and press on the one named System. In the new screen, tap on the wording Language and input and then choose the item Virtual keyboard. From the keyboards shown to you, select the one with the wording Gboard.

By doing so, you will be logged into the Google keyboard settings. Among the items that are shown to you, press on Scroll typing and then move the lever from ON to OFF, in correspondence with the wording Enable swipe typing. If so, you can also disable the other features that involve swiping your finger, by moving from ON to OFF the levers near the items Enable gesture deletion And Enable gesture cursor control. It wasn’t difficult, was it?
