Obviously, in case it becomes necessary, I will also explain how to perform a factory reset of the terminal.
Courage: why are you still standing there in front of the screen? Do you want to go back to using your Huawei smartphone safely or not? I would say yes, since you’ve come to read this guide. Come on then, you just have to read and put into practice the brief instructions that you find below. There is nothing left for me to do, but wish you happy reading and wish you a big good luck for everything!
Before going into the details of the procedure on how to remove the safe mode on Huawei , I think it may interest you to know more and understand how it is activated.
Well, Android Safe Mode usually activates in the presence of some software error (such as incompatibility of an app) or when the user presses a certain key combination (which can also happen by mistake). Your smartphone, therefore, may have started autonomously in safe mode , in case of software problems, or you may have activated the safe mode, voluntarily or by mistake, by pressing the relative key combination.
Safe mode is used by a smartphone above all for diagnostic or repair purposes , since it deactivates some parts of the operating system, loading only the indispensable drivers and the basic functions of the latter. In short, by activating this mode it is very likely that those components that create problems when starting the operating system are disabled and that the user is therefore able to detect and uninstall the software that cause the errors.
Usually, Huawei smartphones provide for the possibility of accessing the safe mode by holding down the power button of the device, performing a long tap on the Shut down item and selecting the OK item that appears under the word Restart in safe mode . In some models, however, it is sufficient to hold down the Volume Down key while the smartphone is starting up. Unfortunately, I cannot be more precise with my indications, as each model makes its own story.
How to disable Huawei Safe Mode
There are several methods to deactivate the safe mode of a Huawei smartphone. Below you will find all the relevant indications, which will guide you step by step towards your goal.
Restart the device
Getting out of the safe mode of a Huawei smartphone is not very difficult, since all it takes is a short combination of buttons.
In fact, all you have to do is press and hold the power button on the smartphone (which is usually located on the right side) and then tap on the Turn off item that appears on the screen. At this point, by pressing the power button again , the Huawei device should turn on again and automatically exit the safe mode (the relative writing should no longer appear on the screen).
If this does not happen, you must turn off the smartphone once again and then turn it on again by pressing and holding the power button and the Volume Down button at the same time (the latter can be single or correspond to the lower part of the volume rocker). Unfortunately, I cannot be more precise with my indications, since the procedure is different for each model produced by the Chinese company.
In case the procedures I described above do not work, probably some corrupt app has been installed on your smartphone that prevents the device from starting correctly. To proceed, I therefore invite you to remove the latest apps installed before your device started behaving strangely.
To do so, go to the Home screen of your smartphone and make a long tap on the icon of the app you want to remove.
At this point, depending on the model of phone in your possession, you may have to press on the Uninstall item or on the trash can icon . On some devices, you may also be prompted to drag the app icon to the top of the screen.
In any case, for more information, I invite you to consult my tutorial on how to uninstall apps from Android.
Factory data backup and reset
How do you say? Have you slavishly followed my instructions but still haven’t been able to fix the safe mode problem? Don’t worry, in this case it can be useful to make a backup and then a factory data reset.
Backup is very useful for keeping a safety copy of your data and, in fact, my advice is to try to exploit this possibility before giving up your data. The most used ways to make a backup are two: through the Google account or through a computer.
In the first case, you will save all the data in your smartphone on Google’s cloud services and then later on, when you first start the device after the reset, log back into your account to recover everything.
To proceed, then go to the Settings (via the gear icon located on the main page of the smartphone), go to the Account> Google path and select your Gmail address . If your device does not yet have a Google account, tap on the Add account item , select the Google icon from the screen that opens and enter the login details associated with your Gmail account. In case you do not have the latter, select the item Or create a new account and follow the procedure to create a Google account that is shown on the screen.
Now, go back to Settings> Accounts> Google , select your Gmail address and, if necessary, activate the options related to all the synchronization options (such as calendar, contacts, app data, Google Fit, people details, Drive and Gmail) .
As for photos and videos, you will have to go through Google Photos to synchronize them on all your devices through this application. The resolution limit allowed for free is 16MP for photos and 1080p for videos, otherwise you will have to subscribe to the plan that erodes the space available on Google Drive, with a starting price of 1.99 euros / month for 100GB of storage. For all the details of the case, I invite you to consult my guide on how Google Photos works.
To activate the backup of photos and videos on Google Photos, you need to start the official app of the service (which should already be installed on the device or which, alternatively, you can download from the Play Store ). At this point, tap the ☰ button located at the top left, select the Settings item and press on Backup and synchronization . Excellent, now, if it is not already active by default, move the lever relating to the Backup and synchronization option to ON , press on the Upload size item and choose the High quality item from the box that is shown to you.
To conclude, I remind you that WhatsApp and other applications manage their backups independently, so I recommend that you backup the data of the individual apps before proceeding. As for WhatsApp , to start a backup (both online and offline), you need to start the app, tap on the three dots icon located at the top right and select the Settings item .
After that, you have to go to the path Chat> Backup of chats , press on the item Back up and wait for the app to complete the backup operations. For more information, read my guide on how to restore WhatsApp backups.
As for the other applications, you can choose whether to re-download them all manually from the Play Store or to restore them in series using a suitable tool. In the second case, you can rely on the HiSuite tool , which I will talk about later, or on the Titanium Backup application which, however, in its free version does not include the serial restoration of the apps (the full version costs 6.49 euros) and requires the root to work best. For more information, check out my tutorial on how to make an Android backup.
To make a backup on your computer instead, you need to go to the HiSuite program (available for Windows and macOS ) and connect your smartphone to the computer via USB port (by activating the USB debugging option ). Also in this case, I invite you, if possible, to make a backup with regard to apps such as WhatsApp and the like, in order to avoid unpleasant surprises.
Generally speaking, once the software is started, just press the Backup item , select all the data to include, choose whether to protect them with a password , select the folder where the backup is to be saved and click Backup again .
Later, to restore your data after returning the device to the factory data, you will simply have to press on the Restore item and select all the contents. For more details and the complete procedure, I invite you to consult my tutorial on how to backup Huawei.
Once this is done, I would say that you are ready to proceed with a factory reset of your smartphone. I remind you that this operation will delete all the data on your Huawei device and that, if the backup was not carried out correctly or there are corrupt apps, you could lose all your files.
That said, to factory reset your phone, you need to go to the device Settings and select the Advanced Settings item . At this point, first tap on the Backup and reset item and then on the Factory data reset .
Perfect, now you just have to select the RESTORE PHONE item and the smartphone will start deleting all the data inside the device. Note that some models may have slightly different procedures but, in any case, the items present are very similar to each other. When the smartphone restarts, the safe mode should disappear.
At this point, try to restore the data you backed up and see if Safe Mode is still there or not.
If the smartphone does not work anyway, it means that some data in the backup is corrupt. You could then try to restore only certain data. in case you still cannot solve the problem, you will necessarily have to perform the factory data reset again , losing all the data on the Huawei device.
For more details, I recommend that you take a look at my guide on how to reset Huawei.
If at this point of the tutorial you have not been able to solve your problems with the Huawei smartphone in your possession, try to contact the Chinese company’s assistance by consulting the appropriate section of its official website.
Then click on the item Discover our repair services , select the most suitable after-sales service for you and follow the instructions on the screen. Alternatively, search for the Huawei center closest to you and take the device that has Safe Mode issues there.
