Samsung smartphones include a default application, called Email , which allows you to set up your email accounts and manage them easily. It supports practically any kind of email service based on the IMAP or POP3 protocol and is very simple to use.
To take advantage of it in such a way as to receive emails on your Samsung mobile phone , first of all take the device, unlock it, access the drawer (the Android screen where the icons of all the apps are grouped) and tap the icon of E-mail (the one with the orange background and the white outline of the envelope).
In the screen that is shown to you at this point, if you intend to configure the Google account with which you have already logged in on your device (as I explained to you in my guide on how to associate an Android phone with Google), select this last, tap on the Allow item to grant the app the necessary permissions to access the account and wait for the automatic configuration of the same to be completed.
If, on the other hand, you want to set up a different email account, tap the Add new account button , type the email address and password of the same in the appropriate fields, tap Log in and grant any permissions to access the account (if necessary), by tapping on the item Allow .
If the configuration of the account in question is done automatically , you do not need to do anything else. Otherwise, instead, you will be asked to perform the manual configuration , choosing the type of account ( POP3 , IMAP or Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync ), indicating the parameters relating to the incoming and outgoing mail server and specifying the other required data. Then press on the Login item located at the bottom right to validate the information entered. You can find the configuration parameters of the main e-mail services in this guide of mine.
After configuring your email account, you will find yourself in front of the main screen of the app, that is to say the one that contains the inbox . To open received messages, simply tap on them. The other folders of the account are visible, however, by recalling the appropriate menu, after tapping on the button with the horizontal lines located at the top left.
From the same menu above, by tapping on the button with the gear , you can access the app settings, through which you can configure additional mail accounts (by tapping on the Add account item and following the instructions on what to do that I have given you a few moments ago. ‘rather). By pressing, instead, on the already configured email addresses that you find in the list, you can manage their synchronization and make other changes.
Receive email on Samsung mobile with Gmail
The default app for receiving emails on Samsung mobile is not thrilling and would you like to use Gmail instead? Perfect! So, to begin with, download and install the Gmail app on your device (if it is not already pre-installed) by visiting the relevant section of the Play Store and tapping the Install button .
Then, start the app by pressing the Open button that appeared on the screen or by selecting its icon (the one with the Gmail logo ) that has just been added to the drawer (the Android screen where you find all the applications grouped).
Subsequently, you will find yourself in the presence of the Main screen of Gmail with the inbox related to the Google account with which you are logged in on your Samsung device. To open received messages, simply click on them.
To view the other folders of your account and the various sections of Gmail, on the other hand, tap the button with the horizontal lines located at the top left, in order to call up the relative menu.
From the same menu, you can also manage the currently configured Gmail account, by tapping on the Settings item , selecting the account from the new screen displayed and acting on the various items available relating to synchronization, attachment download, etc.
If you want to use a different Gmail account or if you want to configure the app with another e-mail service (not everyone knows it, but Gmail allows it!), Click on the button with the horizontal lines located in the upper left part of the screen, select the Settings item from the menu that opens and then press sy Add account .
Then, select the logo of the email service you are interested in to proceed with the automatic configuration of the same, simply by entering your email address and password .
If, on the other hand, you want to carry out the manual configuration or if your email account is not in the list of supported services, tap on the Other item , type the account in the appropriate field, tap on the configuration item. manual which is located at the bottom left, choose the type of account ( POP3 , IMAP or Exchange ), enter the password and provide the additional data you are asked for regarding the incoming mail server , the one for outgoing mail, etc.
Receive emails on your Samsung mobile with Outlook
Do you have a Microsoft account and / or would you like to receive emails on your Samsung mobile using Outlook ? I’ll explain how to do it right away, it’s child’s play. First, download and install the Outlook application on your device by visiting the relevant section of the Play Store and pressing the Install button .
Subsequently, start the app by pressing the Open button that appeared on the display or by selecting its icon that has just been added to the drawer (the Android screen where you find all the applications grouped).
Now, click on the Start button and type the email address of your mail account in the field displayed in the center of the display. The addresses of all major mail providers that support IMAP and POP3 protocols are supported. Then press on the Continue item located at the bottom right, enter the password and tap the Login button .
If you later see a screen through which you are asked if you want to add another account immediately, freely choose what to do: if you want to configure an additional email address, click on Continue , at the bottom right, and provide the requested data; otherwise tap on the word Ignore located at the bottom left, follow the short introductory tutorial that is proposed to you and you will find yourself in front of the main screen of the app, the one with the inbox.
To read the messages, simply tap on them, while to access the other folders of your Outlook account, press the button with horizontal lines located at the top left and select them from the menu that appears. From the same menu you can also access the app and account settings by pressing the button with the gear at the bottom.
On the screen displayed, if you want to adjust the parameters related to synchronization, aliases, etc., tap on your email address . If, on the other hand, you want to add another account to the application (even from a different e-mail service), select the Add account , choose the Add an e-mail account option from the menu that appears, enter the relative e-mail address in the dedicated field and click on Continue .
At this point, if Outlook is able to automatically configure the mail service of your interest, you will be asked to type the relative password and you can immediately start reading your emails, otherwise you will have to proceed with the manual configuration, by tapping on the item Advanced settings and filling in the fields on the screen with the data relating to the incoming mail server , the one for the outgoing mail etc.
Receive emails on your Samsung mobile with Yahoo Mail
If you have a Yahoo mail account and are interested in finding out how to receive emails on your Samsung phone using the Yahoo Mail app , first download the latter from the relevant section of the Play Store , by pressing the Install button .
Then, start the application by pressing the Open button that appeared on the display or by selecting its icon (the one with the purple background and the white envelope) that has just been added to the drawer (the Android screen where you find all the applications).
Then, log in to your Yahoo account by pressing the Login with Yahoo button, typing your email address in the field on the screen and pressing the Next button . Then enter the password associated with the account and tap the Login button . Once this is done, you will find yourself in front of the main screen of the app with all the inbox.
To read a message, click on it. To access the other folders of your email account, press the button with horizontal lines located at the top left and select the one of your interest from the menu that opens. From the same menu you can also adjust the settings related to the application and your email account by pressing, respectively, on the Settings and Account Management items .
If, on the other hand, you want to configure the use of a different e-mail service (the app allows it), on the Yahoo Mail home screen, select the Gmail , Outlook or AOL logo and fill in the fields displayed at screen with email address and password to proceed.
Alternatively, if you have already configured an email account, call up the application menu, by tapping the button with horizontal lines located at the top left, tap on the item Add another mailbox , select the email service of your interest and enter your login details in the fields on the screen.
Other apps to receive emails on Samsung mobile
In addition to the apps I have already told you about, I suggest you also consider these other solutions, which certainly won’t disappoint you.
- Blue Mail – no cost e-mail client whose operation does not differ much from that of other apps for managing emails. It supports all accounts and has a nice interface.
- Mail Droid – has a frills free interface and is very easy to use and set up. It supports all email services and is free.
- Aqua Mail – simple email management app on Android that allows you to set up virtually any account. Basically it shows only the bare essentials but, by accessing the settings, you can make all the necessary configurations. Free.
- Spark – app that promises to once again take control of e-mail boxes crammed with messages, offering functions specifically designed for the purpose in question. It’s free and also has a very nice user interface.
Manage email accounts from Android settings
If you see fit, you can manage the mail accounts configured on your Samsung smartphone from the Android settings. How you do it? I’ll explain it to you right away.
To carry out the operation in question, take your device, unlock it, access the drawer (the Android screen where you find the icons of all the apps grouped) and tap the Settings icon (the one with the gear symbol ). In the new screen that is shown to you at this point, select the item Cloud and account .
Then, tap on the wording Account and press on the logo related to the e-mail account of your interest. Later, you can change the settings related to synchronization etc. in an almost analogous way to what is possible by acting on the internal settings of the various applications.
