The application, in fact, does not offer any special function through which it is possible to read messages received in chat without having to install theMessenger app.

To be precise, the Facebook app includes a button to read “on the fly” messages received on Messenger but by tapping on it, the application in question opens. If the Messenger app is not installed, however, a screen appears inviting you to proceed with the download of the same via Play Store (on Android) or via the App Store (on iOS).

So, if the desktop version of the social network is not called up, tapping the button to read Messenger conversions will show a screen through which the user is invited to download the app.

In addition to the way I indicated above, you should also know that you can read your conversations by connecting directly to the Messenger website, always enabled the display of its desktop variant, without first having to go to Facebook.com.
