FiveWallpapers

The first app I want to tell you about is FiveWallpapers, which is particularly intuitive and full of features, but at the same time light and minimally invasive. The app is completely free and, although it has not been updated for some time, in my tests it was still compatible with the most recent versions of Android (clearly, however, I cannot guarantee its compatibility with all devices). Its purpose is simply to apply a different background to each page of the Home Screen.

To download it, visit the relevant page on the Play Store (or on an alternative store, if you use a device without Google services) and press the button Install. When finished, launch it and grant it access to photo present on the device.

You are now on the FiveWallpapers main screen: to start choosing the various backgrounds, press the icon of settings located at the top right (shows the symbol of a gear). The app is able to automatically determine the number of screens on your device, but you can also choose to manually set this value by pressing the field named Set and tapping on the correct value (up to a maximum of 5).

At the top of the screen, the slots available, corresponding to the number of screens on the device: to insert an image of your choice, tap on the first of them, in order to open the Image Gallery, then select the photograph, touching it with your finger, and press the button OK.

Then repeat the same operation with the second slot and so on. Once you have applied the images, you can edit them by holding down the preview, in order to enter editing mode: from here you will be able to determine the orientation of the photo by clicking on the options Portrait (vertical) or Landscape (horizontal), and define brightness, contrast, saturation And hue, using the indicators above and below each photo. To proceed, just press on the symbol that identifies the functionality and scroll to the right or left to increase or decrease the intensity of the effect.

In addition, you can also center the subject by dragging the box above the photograph with your finger. Once the editing is complete, you have to press the button OK to confirm the changes. Now you can focus on transition effects that characterizing the passage from one screen to another, by pressing on the field Transition effect: you will be shown different alternatives that you can set with a simple tap.

Another feature that might come in handy is that of Picture quality, present at the bottom of the main screen of the app: by pressing on it you can choose between the options Good or Best (the latter could, however, slow down the performance of the device). After defining all the settings, press the button Backards of your Android smartphone and choose whether to apply the wallpapers only to the device screens or also to the lock screen.

MultiPicture Live Wallpaper

Another app that I think is particularly suitable for this purpose is Multipicture Live Wallpaper: it is too free and, although it has not been updated for some time, in my tests it was also found to work on the most recent versions of Android (clearly, I cannot guarantee its compatibility with all devices). While it is probably less intuitive than other similar solutions, it does its job very well, that is apply one or more different backgrounds to each page of the Home Screen.

To proceed with its download, visit the relevant page of the Play Store (or an alternative store, if you use a device without Google services) and press the button Install. After the installation is complete, I must inform you that you may notice the absence of the relative icon both on the Home Screen and in the drawer: in this case you can still start it by pressing the gear symbol to access the settings and tapping on the item App to view the list of all those installed on the device.

MultiPicture live Wallpaper startup

Once the app is located MultiPicture Live Wallpaper, just press on it to open the relevant screen and then tap the button You open. At the first start you will be prompted to enable theaccess to multimedia contents present on the device and you will have to press the button Keep it going to continue.

First, then, from the main screen, press the item Add Individual settings, then choose the number of the screen you want to apply the custom wallpaper to – try entering the number, for example 1 and presses the button OK. You will be sent back to the previous screen, where you will find the new entry Screen 1 settings: pressing on the latter you will access a new dedicated screen in which to define the Home Screen settings.

To add the background image, tap on the first option Picture source and choose whether to add a single photo, an album, or a folder of images. In the first case, Single picture, the Image Gallery of your device will be shown and you can select the photograph on it: in this mode the image will remain fixed on the first screen of the display.

In the mode Album, which allows you to automatically vary the background image based on time intervals (in the next paragraphs I will show you how), you will see the list of folders associated with multimedia content, which you can select or deselect on the relevant item. At the end you will have to press the button OK, to confirm the changes.

Even the last option, Picture Folder, allows you to alternate the images in a specific folder, which you can choose by pressing on the item Folder Path. In addition, via the setting Picture selection order, it is possible to define the ordering of the images based on name, date, or in random mode (which is set by default). At the end, also in this case it is necessary to confirm the changes by pressing the button OK.

Individual settings also allow you to add a background color to images just uploaded via the feature Background color (you will be redirected to the list of available colors that you can select), to define the size of the background with the option Crop / Resize ratio and intervene on the values of saturation And opacity to decrease their intensity, in order to make the icons more visible.

After making the first screen, then, you can proceed in the same way with the others, by pressing again on the item Add individual settings and this time selecting number 2, number 3 and so on.

Now, if you wish, you can also set the transition effects from one screen to another, by pressing on the item Transition type and selecting one of the options proposed in the list that will be proposed to you. If you have chosen Album or Picture Folder mode, via the feature Picture change interval you will also be able to define the time interval for the alternation of images.

Finally, I would like to point out the presence of the functions Maximum memory usage And Color depth that allow you to optimize the functioning of the app and obtain better performance and quality based on the resources available on your device.

Other useful solutions

Go Multiple Wallpaper

The apps proposed so far, even if free and advertising tests, have not completely convinced you and you would therefore like to evaluate other solutions? No problem, I have selected for you some valid alternatives that you can safely test to set multiple wallpapers on your Android device.

  • GO Multiple Wallpaper – this app is able to set a background for each single screen of the Android device in a simple and intuitive way and, in addition to allowing the uploading of photographs from the Gallery of your device, it also offers a selection of original images. However, I inform you that the app screens contain advertisements.
  • My – Wallpaper Slideshow – the app in question is free, but contains ads and offers in-app purchases. However, it has proved to be particularly functional and simple to use: you need to create a folder where you can insert all your favorite photos and, subsequently, indicate its path using the appropriate function.
  • Multiple Picture Wallpaper – it is a rather intuitive app which, although it is rather slow in loading content, perfectly responds to the need to set different backgrounds on the various screens of your Android device.
