Preliminary information
Minecraft Pocket Edition (later renamed simply Minecraft ) is the version of Minecraft for mobile devices, developed by the renowned Mojang AB. It is available for Android and iOS / iPadOS and, as well as on the PC, it allows you to explore, interact, create and modify a world made up of cubic blocks.
The mods are, in fact, modifications that are applied to the original version of the game and, as such, could also compromise its correct functioning. The apps you will find in this article come directly from the Play Store and the App Store, so they are reasonably safe.
I strongly advise against downloading applications from external sources, as it can be risky for your device and for your privacy. I take no responsibility for any problems or damages resulting from the implementation of the mods on Minecraft PE. Having said that, let’s roll up our sleeves and let’s get started!
Types of mod
As I mentioned earlier, Minecraft mods can add so many features, characters, new settings and variations to the game that you can’t even imagine. Precisely because there is such a wide choice, I will show you the main categories of mods that can be used, to get a clearer idea of the possibilities you have available.
- Maps – these are customized maps which, in turn, are divided into other sub-categories: Adventure, Mini-games, PVP, Parkour, Survival, etc.
- Seeds – literally “seeds” which, by definition, are combinations of characters that determine the creation of the world. Using the same seed, you can create the same world. Unlike specially created maps, seeds are automatically generated and can contain dungeons, huge islands or wonderful biomes without making any real changes to the game.
- Skin – they are changes that are made to the appearance of your character, divided into various categories: for boys, for girls, themed films, video games, anime or, again, dedicated to monsters, animals, robots and much more.
- Textures – unlike skins, textures change the appearance of blocks. You can find mods that make slight changes, others that change them drastically, others that add new ones.
- Constructions – as you can guess, you can add entire ready-made constructions: houses and buildings, statues and monuments, vehicles and ships, from medieval to modern, really everything.
- Mod and AddOns – last, but not least, the real changes that manage to distort the game. Do you want to add new animals or monsters? Can! Do you want to ride a dragon? Can! Want to turn Minecraft into a Pokémon game? You can do this too, and much more!
How to install mods on Minecraft PE
There are apps that contain the best mods for Minecraft and allow you to apply them to the game in a few simple steps. The procedures and apps that I will show you below refer to the Android system . To take advantage of it, you first need Minecraft PE, which you can download directly from the Play Store for the price of 6.99 euros .
Mod-Master for Minecraft PE
A huge collection of mods is Mod-Master for Minecraft PE , which you can download from the Play Store . The application is free , as well as almost all the contents inside, but there is also the possibility of making purchases in the app to buy virtual “coins”. In fact, some mods cost 100 coins but let’s talk about just a couple of mods for each category. Also, I’ll explain to you later how to collect some free coins. For the moment, however, let’s take a look at the icons that we find inside the app starting from left to right.
- Maps .
- Changes (mods and addons).
- Builder (buildings, vehicles and more).
- Profession (it’s a guide on everything you need to know about Minecraft, from crafting to mobs).
- Pelles (the character’s skins).
- Editor (an editor to edit or create new skins).
- Thief (to “steal” the skins simply by writing what you are looking for, eg write “zombie” to get his skin, or indulge yourself looking for something like “supermario”).
- Pack (they are themed skin packs).
- Seeds (i seeds).
- Servers (the best servers for online multiplayer).
- Textures .
- Wallpaper (screenshots and wallpapers that you can set as your device wallpaper, share or save).
For example, if you want to install a map , you need to press the Maps icon , in order to access the list of available maps, divided into various categories located on the top of the screen ( Adventure , Mini-Game , PVP , Parkour , Survival and Popular ).
You must, therefore, press on the map you prefer and, subsequently, close the advertising that opens. This will open the download screen where, by pressing on the item read more , you will be able to see detailed information on what you have chosen, while by tapping on the Download button you will be able to download the map.
Wait for the download to complete and, once finished, press the Open button , to automatically start Minecraft PE. Now you just have to press the Play button and, between your worlds, you will find the map you just downloaded. The exact same procedure also applies to Seeds .
If, on the other hand, you want to install mods , you need to press the Modifications icon . As before, you will find the various categories of content available at the top ( Populars , Magic , Animals , Monsters and Inventions ): press, therefore, on the mod you prefer and, subsequently, close the advertising that opens. Once you get to the download screen, tap on the Download button , to download the mod.
Once the download is complete, press the Open button , to automatically start Minecraft PE, and choose whether to apply the mod you just downloaded to a new world or to an existing world .
In the first case, just press on Play , then on Create new and finally on Create new world . In the world creation screen, scroll the settings modification menu downwards (the menu where the “Create” button is located, so to speak) and press on the Resource packages item , located in the Add-on section .
At this point, press on the item My packages , to open the menu of the mods you have downloaded. Then, tap on the mod you prefer and press the Activate button . As you may have noticed, the chosen mod will disappear from the My packages section , as it is activated; it will then move to the Active menu , located just above it.
Also, know that you can also activate multiple mods in the same world in order to create your perfect match. Once you’ve applied the mods to Minecraft, press the Create button and start playing.
In case you want to apply a mod to an already existing world, you have to press the Play button and then the edit icon located to the right of an already created world (the pencil icon). From here on, proceed as before, scrolling down the menu for modifying the settings (the one where the Play button is located ) and pressing on the item Resource packages located in the Add-on section .
Next, you need to press the My Packages button , to open the menu of the mods you previously downloaded, choose the mod you prefer, press Activate and finally tap the Play button to start the game. In case you want to view or remove the mods you have applied, you will find them in the Active menu , where you can also select and remove the changes you no longer want by pressing the Disable button .
To switch to the character skins , press the Pelles icon and you will also find them divided into categories (such as Games, Robots , Girls , Heroes , Boys , Joke , Baby , Monsters , Anime , Characters , Camouflage , Animals and Military ). You must therefore press on the skin you want to apply and then close the advertising that opens.
Once you get to the download screen, tap on the central icon (the icon with the down arrow), then choose the Save in Gallery item , to download the skin image, and you’re done: the message “The file saved successfully” will confirm this. To close it, press the OK button .
Now all you have to do is open Minecraft PE and, on the game’s home screen, press the Profile button located under Steve , the main character. You will find yourself in front of the character edit screen. Here you have to choose an empty slot, pressing on the arrow to the right , to avoid making changes on the already existing skins, and then tap on the item Edit character .
In the new proposed screen, presses on the right section of the menu (the one that has three characters as an icon ) and, immediately after, press the Ownership button , then tap on the items Import and Choose new skin . Simply select from the gallery the image of the skin you previously downloaded. to apply it.
As for the textures , just press on the Textures icon and you will find all those available divided into categories (based on size and, therefore, definition), positioned at the top of the screen. The higher the value you choose ( 128 × 128 , 64 × 64 , 32 × 32 or 16 × 16 ), the more the textures will be graphically detailed but the more “heavy” the game will risk risking lag and a drop in framerates.
Once you have made your choice, just press on the texture you prefer and then close the advertising that will have opened. Once you get to the download screen, tap on the Download button , to download the texture, and you’re done.
Once the download is complete, press the Open button to automatically start Minecraft PE. You can choose to apply textures to all worlds or only to a new world or an existing one . In the first case, just press on the Settings item , scroll down the menu located on the left (where you will find the Commands , General etc. items) and press the Global resources and My packages buttons .
In the next screen, you will find both the textures and the various mods downloaded: choose what you want to apply globally to all the worlds and press the Activate button .
Well done! Now all worlds will have the textures you choose. In case you want to remove them to return to the default textures or to change them, simply open the Active menu , where you can select and remove the packages you no longer want by pressing the Disable button .
If, on the other hand, you want to apply the textures only to a new world , just press the Play button , then click on Create new and finally on Create new world . In the world creation screen, scroll the settings modification menu downwards (the menu where the Create button is , to be clear) and press on the Resource packages item , located in the Add-on section . As before, to confirm, press on My packages , select the texture of your interest and tap on the Activate button .
In the latter case, to apply textures to an existing world , from the Minecraft PE home screen, press the Play button , then the edit icon positioned to the right of an already created world (the pencil icon). At this point, scroll down the edit settings menu (the menu where the Play button is located ) and press on the Resource packages item , located in the Add-on section . Finally, press the My Packages button and, once you have chosen the texture to apply, tap on Activate .
Now the question is “why give up content that costs 100 coins?”. As promised, I will now explain how to collect some free coins ! It’s very simple, you just have to press on the shop icon (the one in the shape of a cart, which you can find on the bar at the bottom). Apart from the various offers to buy coins in exchange for real money, focus on the item Free coins and press the Clock button . In exchange for viewing an advertisement, you will get 50 free coins ! You read that right: just a couple of advertisements will be enough to download a “premium” package, spending 100 coins that, at that point, you will have earned in the blink of an eye!
I left last the buildings and buildings, which you can find by tapping on the Builder icon , as these require the installation of another app called BlockLauncher , but we will talk about this later .
Mods | AddOns for Minecraft PE
Mods | AddOns for Minecraft PE is another app that allows you to easily install mods in Minecraft PE, as well as maps, textures and more. Its operation is very similar to what I explained to you previously for Mod-Master for Minecraft PE .
First, therefore, download the app from the Play Store and, once opened, you will find a subdivision at the top in categories ( AddOns , ModPE , Maps , Textures , Skins and Seeds ). After taking a look and choosing what you are interested in, just press the Install button , located at the bottom. Once the download is complete, you will need to press on Open game , in order to open Minecraft and try your new mod.
BlockLauncher
BlockLauncher is a customized Minecraft PE launcher that allows you to import mods and texture packs, although only a few of them require the use of this app. It is available both in a free version, which you can download directly from the Play Store , and for a fee (BlockLauncher Pro at a price of 3.68 euros ). The main difference is that the free version allows you to apply up to three “patches” while the Pro version allows an unlimited number.
As mentioned, the two applications shown above may require the use of BlockLauncher. Once downloaded, only a few mods will open a box asking you to choose which launcher to use. At that point, press the BlockLauncher button , then answer Import as many times as required, based on how many changes must be made by the chosen mod.
Warning : BlockLauncher may not support the latest version of Minecraft PE due to updates. It is also not compatible with Jelly Bean, Android versions 4.1 or lower nor with different Samsung devices. Various app crash problems have been reported on various devices or repercussions on Minecraft PE such as the elimination of all the worlds created, therefore, I do not recommend their use and is reported on this article for informational purposes. I take no responsibility for any clumsy uses of the app or problems arising from it.
How to put mods on Minecraft PE for iOS
For the iOS operating system , then for iPhone and iPad , there is an app called Addons for Minecraft that works exactly like the applications shown previously for Android. It therefore allows you to apply the mods to Minecraft PE in a fairly simple way.
To begin, go to the App Store and press the Get button , to download it (you may be asked to verify your identity via Face ID, Touch ID or Apple ID password). Once open, you will find yourself in front of a list of mods and addons: after choosing the one that interests you most, press on it and then press the Download button (McWorld) .
A screen will open where you just have to press on the Minecraft icon with Copy to Minecraft PE written and you’re done! Now that you have customized your worlds on Minecraft to your liking, you just have to grab a pickaxe and start new adventures, enjoy!
Note: unfortunately, it is not possible to install some types of mods for Minecraft on iOS, except by carrying out the jailbreak or other operations that I strongly advise against performing, as these could compromise the correct functioning of the device.
