How do you put your fingerprint on Android

Let’s take action immediately and see, together, how do you put your fingerprint on android. Before proceeding, however, allow me to tell you that the procedure in question may vary from device to device: it depends on the brand and model of device in your possession, as well as on the version of Android installed on it. For the writing of this tutorial, I used a Redmi Note 8 from Xiaomi.

Having said that, we can take action. To proceed, the first thing you need to do is take your device to unlock it and go to the system settings. Then you have to go to the section dedicated to the security options of your device and register your fingerprint using the special function included in the system.

Then start the app Settings on your device (thegear icon located on the home screen or in the drawer), scroll the displayed screen and locate the wording Unlocking by fingerprint, present in the section Safety. Then insert, in the appropriate text field, the password currently set to protect the device and tap the button Forward located at the bottom right.

If you didn’t set a security password, you have to do it now: select the item Password, tap on the button I understand and type the password in the appropriate text field. Then tap the button Keep it going, repeat the insertion of the password in the appropriate text field and press on the item OK. I recommend: keep the password in a safe place, because if you lose it you will have to reset the device, losing all the data saved in it. Understood?

At this point, you must follow the instructions given to you on the screen to register a fingerprint. Then place your fingertip on the sensor and move your finger, so as to complete the procedure: the fingerprint indicator you see on the screen will help you to complete it. Once that’s done, assign a imprint name in the appropriate text field (eg. Imprint of [tuo nome], DX index, SX index, etc.) and tap the button Done. The fingerprint was successfully registered and can now be used to unlock the device.

As I told you, the instructions I have just indicated may vary slightly depending on the device in your possession. If you own a smartphone Samsung, for example, you can be able to carry out the operation in question by going to Settings> Biometric data and security or Lock screen and security and, after reading and accepting the information about the use of the service, following the instructions to register the fingerprint that appear on the screen.

As you can see, also in this case it is necessary to rest, lift and rest the finger several times on the sensor, until the procedure is completed. Once the fingerprint registration has been completed, press the buttons Done And Activate or drag the slider to the right Unlock with fingerprint. Obviously, even to set the fingerprint on a Samsung device you must have previously set a PIN or password to protect the device.

On branded devices Huawei you have to follow a similar procedure: after setting an unlock method (e.g. pattern, PIN or password), you need to go to Settings> Security and Privacy> Fingerprint ID> Fingerprint Management> New Fingerprint and follow the instructions that appear on the screen to complete the procedure. Specifically, you need to place your fingertip on the sensor, press lightly on it until the device vibrates and repeat the operation using different parts of the fingertip. To conclude, then, you have to tap on OK.

If you are unable to locate the instructions for registering your fingerprint, I recommend that you consult the user manual of your device and / or the section dedicated to customer support on the website of the manufacturer of the device.
