On the advice of your best friend, you also created an event on Facebook to try to increase your sales. Unfortunately, however, your attempts did not give the desired result and, for this reason, you would like my help again to get more visibility on the social network and give a “boost” to your new writing activity. In the next paragraphs, in fact, I will explain how to promote an event on Facebook from smartphones, tablets and computers. First, I’ll give you some tips to optimize your event and promote it at no cost, then I’ll show you the detailed procedure for activating a sponsorship and setting a daily budget to increase the visibility of the event and attract new attendees. Create an event on Facebook

Before we get to the heart of this tutorial and explain how to promote an event on Facebook , let me show you the detailed procedure for creating an event on the famous social network. It is possible to act both from a smartphone and tablet as well as from a computer.

From smartphones and tablets

All you have to do to create a Facebook event from smartphones and tablets is to start the Facebook app for Android or iOS , enter your login details in the Email or phone number and Password fields and press the Login button , in in order to log into your account. In the new screen displayed, tap the ☰ button, press the Events item and choose the Create option , to create a new event, then selecting one of the available options.

  • Create a private event : to create an event visible only to invited people. You can invite people you have added to your friends and allow them to invite other friends.
  • Create a public event : it is the ideal option for those who want to give great visibility to their event. By choosing the option in question, the event is visible to all people registered on Facebook and can be found via the search function of the social network.
  • Create a group event : allows you to create a private event for a specific Facebook group, visible to all registered people. In this regard, my guide on how to create a group on Facebook may be useful.

Having made your choice, to complete the creation of a Facebook event, enter the name of the event in the Event title field , tap the camera icon to add a cover image and enter all the required data in the fields Dates and time , Location and Find out more to add more details.

If you have chosen to create a public event, also enter the description of the event, the category ( Art , Comedy , Movies , Games , Music, etc.) and the keywords , by clicking on the Add details option , then specify where to buy any entrance tickets in the ticket URL field and indicate who is the organizer and co-organizer (if available).

From computer

To create an event on Facebook from your computer , connect to the main page of the famous social network and, if you have not already done so, log in to your account, entering the data in the Email or telephone and Password fields .

Now, click on the Events option , visible in the left sidebar, then click on the Create event button and choose one of the available options between Create private event and Create public event . Alternatively, you can also create a new event by clicking on the Create item in the menu located at the top and choosing the Event option from the menu that appears.

If, on the other hand, your intention is to create an event aimed at members of a Facebook group, locate the Explore section in the sidebar on the left, select the Groups option and click on the name of the group you are interested in. In the new open page, click on the Other item , present in the Write something box , and choose the Create event option .

Regardless of the type of event you have chosen to create, enter the required data in the Event Name (maximum 64 characters), Location , Description and Frequency fields ( Once , Every day , Every week and Custom frequency ).

If you have opted for the creation of a public event, also specify the category of the event ( Art , Film , Music , Sport , Theater , Wellness etc.), the organizer and co-organizers and enter the required data in the Details sections , Tickets and Options . Finally, click on the Create button to publish the event and start your promotion.

If you’re wondering if it’s possible to promote an event on Facebook for free , the answer is yes. All you have to do is to optimize your event, not only to make it visible to as many people as possible but also to capture their attention.

Choose the privacy of the event

As mentioned above, Facebook allows you to create public events and private events. If your intention is to create a successful event that is not aimed at a small niche of people, I recommend that you create a public event following the instructions I have given you in the previous paragraphs .

By choosing this option, you will be able to get the maximum possible visibility: not only will you be able to share your event on Facebook groups and pages, but the activities and contents of the event in question will be visible to all users, even those who are not your friends.

How do you say? Have you already created a private Facebook event and would like to retrace your steps? If so, I am sorry to tell you that it is not possible to change the privacy from private to public and the only solution available to you is to create a new event.

However, by accessing your private event from your computer, clicking on the three dots icon and choosing the Duplicate event option , you can clone the event in question and select the Public event option , via the drop-down menu visible at the top left : by doing this, you can quickly create a new public event, while keeping the information related to your old event. Once this is done, remember to delete the private event, by pressing on the Edit option , selecting the Cancel event item and choosing the Delete event option from the menu that is proposed to you.

Optimize the contents of the event

The next step to creating the event is content optimization . If during the creation phase of your event you have given little importance to the title of the latter, its description or you have not added a cover image to it, to increase your chances of creating a successful event, I suggest you enter carefully the information in question.

First, I recommend that you create a custom image to use as a cover for your event. Keep in mind that the visual aspect is among the most important factors in promoting any product and event on social networks.

Therefore, choose an image that best represents your event and, at the same time, is able to capture the attention of users. If you have good skills with the programs to create images, you can make a customized one specifically for your event. If not, you can rely on Canva , a web application that allows you to create graphic works (including Facebook covers) by choosing from numerous ready-to-use templates.

Alternatively, you can also use a video as a cover for your Facebook event. If you have already organized events in the past and collected some material, you can use a video editing program or application and create a customized movie with clips from previous events, using background music and entering the main details of the new event. .

After creating the image or video to use as the cover of your event, access the main page of the latter, tap on the pencil icon and then on the camera icon (if you are proceeding from a computer, click on the Edit and Upload photo / video buttons ), to access the edit section and upload the file of your interest.

In the Edit section , also make sure that you have entered an appropriate name for the event you are organizing in the Title field , then verify that you have precisely specified the place where it takes place and its duration (by entering the date and time of start in the Start section and the ending date and time in the fields next to the End option ).

Now, enter a detailed description of your event, illustrating the complete program and entering all the necessary information, in the Find out more field ( Description if you are connected to Facebook from a computer).

To better understand, let’s take a practical example: if you are organizing a musical event, enter all the artists and bands that make up the program, providing a brief description for each of them. Also, enter the show times, providing the complete schedule (you can do it from your computer, by clicking on the Add Schedule button , in the Details section ). Then specify the information relating to the place where the event takes place, providing road directions and specifying if it can be reached by public transport, and enter the cost of the entrance ticket, if any, also indicating the purchase methods (possibly adding the link for the online purchase).

Finally, in the Keywords field , enter keywords to identify your event and help it gain more exposure, then make sure there are check marks next to the options Everyone can post and People can ask questions about your event on Messenger , to allow users to post content and ask questions about your event.

Invite people and share the event

After optimizing your event, you are ready to invite people to participate and share your event, not only on your Facebook profile or on pages and groups that you manage or to which you are subscribed, but also on external social networks or on the your website.

To proceed from smartphone and tablet , tap the ☰ button, choose the Events option and access the main page of your event, then press the three dots icon and choose the Share with friends option from the menu that is proposed to you .

In the new screen displayed, tap the Invite button for the people you want to invite directly to your event, otherwise choose one of the available options: Share in your story to create a Facebook story and share the event in question; Share as a post to share the event on your diary, friend’s diary, Facebook group or Facebook page you manage; Send on WhatsApp to share the event via WhatsApp; Share on Messenger to privately share the event with other people registered on Facebook or More options to share the Facebook event via SMS or other applications installed on your device.

If, on the other hand, your intention is to promote a Facebook event on Instagram , first of all, tap on the three dots icon and choose the Copy link option from the menu that is proposed to you, in order to copy the URL of your event. Now, log into your Instagram profile and insert the link in question in a story or in your bio, to get more visibility. If you are connected to Facebook via computer , to invite friends to attend your event, click on the Events item visible in the left sidebar and locate your event in the Upcoming Events section . Then click on the Share button and choose the Invite your friends option , then place the check mark next to all the people you want to invite (or choose the Select all option to select all friends) and press the Send button invitations . To share your Facebook event, click again on the Share button and choose the option of your interest between Share on Messenger , to share the event privately via Messenger, or Share as a post , to publish the event in question on your diary, in a friend’s diary, group, or other Facebook event wall.

How do you say? Would you like to share your event on a Facebook page you manage? In this case, go to the main page of your Facebook event, press the three dots icon , select the Add to page option and, in the new screen displayed, select your Facebook page on which to share the event. Finally, click on the Add event button . By doing so, the event in question will be visible in the Events section of your page.

Have you created and optimized your Facebook event? Have you invited all your friends and shared the event to get more visibility? If so, you should already start seeing the first results from your promotional activity.

However, I advise you not to stop there and to continue posting new content on your event board until the end of the event. By creating new posts, publishing photos, videos (including live), external links and creating surveys (functionality available only from a computer), you can not only increase people’s engagement, but also try to start word of mouth and attract new participants.

All you have to do to publish new content is to access your event page, click on Write something , enter the content of your post (or choose one of the options available between Photo / Video , Live Video and Poll ) and click on the Publish button .

In fact, when creating your ad, you will decide how much to invest in sponsoring the event by setting the daily budget and specifying the total duration. You must know, however, that a minimum budget of € 1 / day must be set and the sponsorship must last at least 24 hours .

If, on the other hand, you have created an event via your Facebook page, start the Ads app, select the page in question in the menu located at the top and press on the item Create ad .

Now, choose the option Promote an event , put the check mark next to the event you want to promote and tap the arrow icon pointing to the right . In the new screen that appears, select or upload a photo to use as the listing image , enter the text to show in the sponsorship in the Text field and press the right arrow icon again .

Then select the audience to show the advertisement to by clicking on the Edit audience button and set the budget and the duration of the advertisement in the Budget and Schedule sections . Finally, in the Check order section , tap the Order button to start your sponsorship, and that’s it.

To sponsor an event on Facebook, connect to the main page of the same and click on the Promote event button at the top. In the new open page, select your goal by choosing one of the available options: when promoting an event, I suggest you choose the Interaction option , in order to obtain more participations and more responses to the organized event.

Then select the item Responses to an event , click on the Advertising account configuration button and check that the data shown in the account Country , Currency and Time Zone fields are correct, then click on the Continue button , set the audience to which to direct the your event by entering the required data in the Places , Age , Genders ( All , Men and Women ) and Languages fields and set a detailed Targeting using the appropriate drop-down menu.

In the Budget and Schedule section , select the Event Responses option via the Optimization for Ad Delivery drop-down menu , set the budget and schedule in the appropriate fields and click the Continue button . Finally, enter the text of the advertisement in the Title field , select the event to sponsor by entering its name or URL in the Event field and click on the Confirm button , in order to start the sponsorship and promote your event on Facebook.
