You are new to Facebook and would you like to share the videos you shot during the last holidays with your relatives abroad? Don’t worry, it’s not a very complicated operation. I know you’re not very PC savvy so I’ll help you out, but I assure you that you could do just fine even without help.

All you have to do is log into your profile and press a couple of buttons. Really very intuitive and within everyone’s reach. So what are you waiting for? Take five minutes of free time and find out step by step how to post videos on facebook thanks to the indications I’m about to give you.

If you want to learn how to post videos on facebook, the first thing you need to do is connect to the main page of the social network and click on the item Photo / video which is located at the top (center). At this point you have two options at your disposal: click on the item Upload photos / videos and upload a video you saved on your PC to Facebook or click on the item Use the webcam and make a live video using your computer’s webcam.

In the first case, click on the button Browse / Choose File that appears below and select the video to upload from your PC. Type an accompanying message in the field Comment this post (the one where you normally write your status updates) and click on the button Publish to start uploading the video. The duration of the procedure depends on the size of the video and the speed of your Internet connection. As for the supported formats, Facebook “digest” all the main types of video files, even if MP4 are preferable. The important thing is that they do not weigh more than 1 GB, do not have a resolution greater than 1280 × 720 pixels and do not last more than 20 minutes.

If, on the other hand, you have chosen to make a live video with the webcam, you must first authorize Flash Player to use the camera by placing the check mark next to the Allow item and then click on the Rec button to start recording the video. When you have completed your registration, click on Stop, type a message to accompany the video in the field Comment this post (the one where you normally write your status updates) and click on the button Publish to start uploading the video. The maximum length of the video can be 20 minutes.

In both cases, you can choose who to show the uploaded video by setting the option you prefer from the drop-down menu Friends located below the video upload box. Leaving the option active Friends, the movie will only be visible to your friends on Facebook, by setting Only me only you can see it, and so on.

It is also possible post videos on Facebook getting them from other sites, like YouTube And Vimeo. In this circumstance, all you have to do is copy the address of the video to share on Facebook (eg. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxxxxx) and paste it in the box where you usually write your status updates. Within a few seconds, you will see a preview of the video appear under the writing field. At this point, you can also delete the address of the video you wrote earlier and replace it with a message presenting the video (which will remain as an attachment to the post, visible directly on Facebook).

If you want to save yourself some effort, you can avoid copying and pasting video addresses and use the sharing features offered by sites like YouTube. To better understand what I’m talking about, visit the page of the video you want to share on Facebook, click on the button Share, then on the logo of Facebook and you will see a window appear for sending a post on Facebook with the video already attached. Easier than that?
