How to mix with FL Studio: You have always loved listening to music, but lately you have had a mad desire to make it happen. You don’t want to be a singer, but a deejay. Your passion, in fact, is to take existing songs and modify them by mixing them with other songs and sound effects. All things you can do with FL Studio.
FL Studio is a program dedicated to music enthusiasts and professionals that allows you to mix and create music easily thanks to a wide range of integrated tools. If you want to learn how to mix with FL Studiothe first step you need to take is to connect to the FL Studio website and click on the button Download FL STUDIO to download the program to your PC. When the download is complete, double-click on it to open the file you just downloaded (flstudio_10.0.9.exe) and, in the window that opens, first click on Yup (to authorize installation on Windows 7 / Vista) and then on Next, I Agree And Next five consecutive times.
Then put the check mark next to the item I don’t want to install AVG Security Toolbar to avoid installing additional browser toolbars and click on the button Next to start the component installation Asio4all. At this point, click on Nextput the check mark next to the item Accept the terms in the license agreement and first click on Next twice in a row and then on Install And Finish to complete the Asio4all installation process.
Finally, click on first Next for two more consecutive times and then on Finish to complete the installation process and start FL Studio. Once the program has started, click on the button Continue to hide the demo version message and start using the software. In the event that the dragging of songs does not work (now I’ll talk about it in more detail), close and reopen the program.
For mix with FL Studio you basically need three tools: the playlistthe sidebar with the browser of the samples included in the program and the pattern. They should all already be displayed, in any case you can enable them by clicking on the toolbar buttons at the top right.
To import into FL Studio the MP3 or WAV songs to mix, all you have to do is select them with the mouse in the Windows Explorer and drag them, one by one, into the program’s playlist box. Place each song in a different field between Track 1, Track 2, Track 3etc.
At this point, set the mode SONG (top left) and click on the button play to hear the current state of the mix. If, as likely, it doesn’t go as well as it is, you can use the mouse to select the tracks in the playlist and move them further forward or backward (so that they only start when you want them). You can adjust the advanced properties of each track by double clicking on the voices Track 1, Track 2, etc. and using the various options and knobs that appear.
You can make your mixes more complete by using the samples and sounds included in the FL Studio library. Then go to the sidebar Browseropen the folder Packs and select the desired effect (in Drum kit find the drum sounds, in FX various audio effects, in Plan piano sounds, etc.) and then drag it to the first free track of the playlist.
Once selected, you can insert samples of FL Studio at the desired point in the playlist individually using the tool pencil present at the top left of the playlist window, or continuously by selecting the tool brush. Do not forget, then to adjust the BPM of the remix using the appropriate item in the toolbar at the top.
When you are satisfied with the result, you can save your mix in WAV or MP3 format by selecting the desired item from the menu File> Export and clicking on the button Start in the window that opens. Alternatively, you can record the remixes made in real time on the button REC present in the toolbar at the top left.
