In no time, you will have created this portal to continue having fun in this fantastic video game. All I have to do is wish you a good read and, above all, have fun!
What is Nether
The Nether of Minecraft is a parallel dimension inhospitable, similar to hell. It is characterized by a dark, desert biome, with rivers and cascades of magma, as well as aggressive creatures that will attack the avatars of the players on sight. It is poorly lit, as the only light derives from the luminescence of magma and some rocks, and there is no concept of time, nor of changing climatic conditions.
The Nether puts a strain on players who find themselves in this wild place, as it hides dangers at every corner. So what is the use of reaching the Nether? Is it so basic? The answer is yes, because in order to progress and have access to new projects, it is necessary to collect materials available only in this place.
In fact, the Nether can be a source of resources in abundance such as gold (from the elimination of some creatures), of plants such as the Nether Wart , essential for alchemical distillates, or of objects of great value that can be found in the interior of trunks in the Nether Fortresses .
In this regard, a player must bring with him all the essential equipment to survive and bring the resources collected back to the dimension of origin. In general, it is not recommended to bring objects of great value and difficult to manufacture because, if your avatar is eliminated, you will be teleported to your world, losing the equipment and the contents of your inventory.
The advice is to bring armor and easy-to-build weapons, such as iron ones, and food for treatment. Furthermore, it is necessary to bring blocks to create a room around the portal to protect it and to have a more or less safe place to fold in case of danger.
In addition, the fire, which is the predominant element in this place, also used by some creatures as a weapon, can destroy the portal thus remaining stuck in the Nether. It is therefore important to bring some flintlocks to reactivate the portal.
I also remind you that it is not possible to build a bed in the Nether, because you would cause it to explode as soon as you try to use it, almost more devastating than TNT.
Create the necessary tools
The first step to take to create a Nether portal is to create the indispensable tools to collect useful resources for the purpose. I will therefore show you what they are and I will also point out some tools that can facilitate the activation of a Nether portal.
Pickaxe in diamonds
The main resource for creating a Nether portal is obsidian : this is obtained when interacting on an obsidian block by means of a diamond pickaxe . Before tackling the topic on this very important resource, which I will tell you about in the next paragraph , I will show you how to create a pickaxe with this material.
A diamond pickaxe is made up of two materials: wood and diamonds . The wood can be harvested by interacting on a tree with bare hands or by means of an ax. Diamonds, on the other hand, can be collected inside mines or, in general, in the subsoil with an iron pick or of superior quality.
As for the wood, once collected, it must be converted into sticks (two are needed) via a workbench . The process of creating a stick involves placing logs to be converted into axes ; subsequently, two blocks of boards must be positioned vertically on two squares to obtain the sticks .
For diamonds , however, you need to create an iron pickaxe (using two sticks and three iron ingots), the creation process of which is similar to what I will illustrate in the next few lines about creating a diamond pickaxe. After you have a pickaxe, try searching for a cave, a mine or digging tunnels to go as deep as you can to find more diamond blocks.
In addition, in some trunks that you can find in the world of Minecraft, you can have the opportunity to find diamonds, to be used immediately for the creation of a pickaxe of this invoice.
Now that you have the necessary resources, it’s time to create a pickaxe with this precious material. Open the workbench and place three diamonds horizontally on the first row of squares. Then insert two wooden sticks vertically, starting from the central square: in this way you will have formed a “T” with the materials and you will be shown the result, that is, a pickaxe in diamonds , which you can equip or place in the inventory.
L ‘ obsidian is generated independently as well as with all other resources in the ground, such as precious metals and stones. Obsidian is obtained from the contact between water and magma . When exploring caves, obsidian can be found due to underground rivers that interact with magma lakes.
However, when you do not come across this process in a “natural” way, some forcing is necessary. The buckets are just that purpose: to transport water from flooding the magma to create obsidian. A bucket is made up of iron ingots and can be used to hold water, but also magma.
To create a bucket, then you need a workbench , inside which you have to place three iron ingots. The layout to follow is the one that involves placing three iron ingots horizontally and then moving the central one a row lower: in this way, you will create an iron bucket to equip or place in the inventory.
An empty bucket, however, is useless: you will therefore have to fill it. To do this, simply approach the element you want to collect and interact on it, with the empty bucket equipped, in order to fill it.
The flint is one of the most immediate and easy to make objects if you want to generate fire. A Nether portal requires fire to be activated. You can therefore understand how useful a lighter is, especially if you are in the Nether and you need to activate an off portal to go back.
Creating a lighter requires a workbench , an iron ingot and a flint unit . The latter resource can be easily found whenever a gravel block is destroyed , which is very common in the world of Minecraft.
Collect the obsidian
As already mentioned in the previous paragraphs, obsidian is an essential material for the creation of a Nether portal. Obsidian is generated by the contact of magma with water.
Magma is present in some cases on the surface, but it is easy to find it underground. Before interacting with magma, however, it is important that you carry several buckets with water.
First, equip the bucket of water and interact on the wall of a block located adjacent to the magma lake. By doing this, a lot of water will flow onto the magma, generating the obsidian (a dark colored stone).
Now, take the empty bucket and interact on the block of water that you previously placed, to immediately collect all the liquid poured. In this way, you will have a free field, without the water can annoy you during the collection of obsidian.
If the magma lake is large enough, you can use multiple buckets of water to convert magma to obsidian. Always be careful to collect water for use in other sections of the lake.
Building the Nether Portal
The portal of the Nether is a rectangular or square shaped structure that has an obsidian frame. Its dimensions are at least five vertical blocks and four horizontal ones, but larger portals can be built.
Access to the Nether occurs through the purple surface that is generated inside the portal, after its activation. It is therefore important that the frame of the portal is built entirely of obsidian, but it is not essential that this has corners, which can be replaced by any material.
To build the Nether portal , first, place four horizontal blocks of obsidian (or two of obsidian with two blocks of any material at the ends). At the ends, raise the side walls of the portal with four other obsidian blocks (or three obsidian blocks and one of any material in the upper margin).
Finally, place the remaining obsidian blocks to close the frame and complete the construction of the Nether portal. At this point, it triggers a flame on the frame of the portal, using for example a flintlock , to see it active.
Alternative method for building a Nether portal
If you do not have the opportunity to collect diamonds to make a pickaxe with the materials listed above (useful for collecting obsidian), you can try creating the portal by generating the obsidian directly at the site of construction of the portal.
To do this, you only need a dozen buckets to collect magma and as many for water . As I said in the previous paragraphs, magma can be found underground or in some areas of the surface where it surfaces.
Once you get the buckets full of magma and those of water, you can start building the Nether portal. First, though, I recommend building a five-block structure that will act as a scaffold to reach the highest area of the portal.
First, pour the contents of one bucket of water on the ground and immediately, on it, pour the magma contained in the other bucket. In this way, the two materials in contact will generate an obsidian block. Continue with this principle to create the base, the walls and, finally, the upper margin.
You can follow the scheme I told you about in the previous paragraph , to create a complete portal or one without corners. After creating the frame, remove the scaffold and start a fire on the portal, so as to activate it and have access to the Nether. It wasn’t that difficult, was it ?!
