If you want, you can also choose to check the posts in which you are tagged that are shared by your friends in order to avoid finding yourself in the diary photos and other contents in which you are present without your explicit consent for the thing. No problem, now I’ll explain everything. To begin with, grab your device, access the screen where all the apps are grouped and tap the Facebook icon.

In the new screen that is shown to you at this point, press the button with the three lines horizontally and then choose the item Settings. Then select the option Account settings and tap on Journal and tagging. Now, locate the entry Who can write in your diary? annexed to the section Who can add content to your diary? and tap on the item Only me in the menu that is shown to you.

To make the Facebook diary private not only as regards the addition of new elements by other people but also as regards the display of the contents published by you, you must click again on the arrow pointing down located in the upper right part of the social network and select the item Settings from the menu that is shown to you. On the page that will open, click on the item Privacy located in the left sidebar.

At this point, you can choose the public type to which to make accessible the information that you will add in the future in your diary and you can restrict the information already present on your profile so as to make it accessible only to friends. For the first setup, locate the section Who can see my things? and click on the item Edit placed next to the wording Who can see your future posts? then select, from the drop-down menu that appears, the audience to which your future content will be made available by choosing from Only me or Personalized (in this case you will then have to select users or user groups of reference users).

For the second setting, instead, click on the option Limit past posts placed next to the item Do you want to limit the audience of posts you have shared with friends of friends or with the public? then click on first Only old posts and then on Confirmation to limit viewing of your old posts to friends.

Do you want to make the Facebook diary private by acting on your smartphone or tablet? So, just to combine, start the social network app on your device and then press the button with the three lines horizontally, stop on Settings and, subsequently, on Account settings. Then press on Privacy to access the screen Connections from you.

At this point, locate the item Who can see your future posts?, press on it and select Friends from the menu that is shown to you. Alternatively, choose the voice Other options and select another from the available options (eg you can make your content visible only to specific lists of friends, only to you, etc.).

To restrict viewing of posts you have shared with friends of friends or the public, return to the screen Connections from you, tap on the item Do you want to limit the audiences of posts you have shared with friends of friends or with the public? and presses the button Only old posts.

Two other ways in which you can make your diary private on Facebook are to hide it from searches, so that your name does not appear in the results of searches carried out on the social network, and to limit the display of your personal information, such as city. of residence, work and so on.

To prevent your profile from appearing in the results of searches made on Facebook, you must once again go back to the diary settings as seen in the previous lines and select the item Privacy from the left sidebar. On the page that opens, click on the option Edit placed next to the item Who can find you using the email address or phone number you provided? and select the item Friends from the drop-down menu that appears (in this way only those who are already friends will be able to find you).

Then click on the option Edit placed next to the item Do you want other search engines to link to your diary?, uncheck the option Allow other search engines to link to your diary and click the button Confirmation to prevent your Facebook profile from appearing in Google searches. If, on the other hand, you are using the social network app from your smartphone or tablet, you can prevent your profile from appearing in the search results by pressing the button with the three lines horizontally, tapping on Settings and then on Privacy. Then, tap on the items Who can be searched using the email address you provided? And Who can look for you using the phone number you provided? and choose Friends from the menu that is shown to you.

To limit the display of personal information, connect instead to your Facebook profile page and click on the button Information placed under the cover image. On the page that opens, move the cursor to the information you intend to act on and click on the button with the men or with the world that is shown to you. If, on the other hand, you are using the Facebook mobile device app, go to your profile by first tapping the button with the three lines horizontally and then on Your photo then presses on the voice Update information present under the cover image and choose the type of information on which to intervene (eg. Work, Instruction etc.).
