How to make a Minecraft server: It is useless to deny it, since you started playing Minecraft you have not been able to do without it and now you are so taken by the thing that you would like to be able to create your own private server so that you can have fun with your friends. How do you say? This is exactly how things are but you have no idea how to make a Minecraft server ? Well, in that case you have nothing to worry about … you can count on me. In the following lines I will in fact explain to you everything you need to know to make a Minecraft server.

Before you can be alarmed and think about the worst, I want to clarify one thing immediately. Contrary to appearances, making a Minecraft server is not complicated at all, whether you are a “novice” user or a little more expert in computer science and video games, it doesn’t matter, the result is practically the same.

So if you are willing to find out how to proceed in order to make a Minecraft server, I suggest you take a few minutes of free time, get comfortable and concentrate on reading this tutorial. I am sure that in the end you will be able to tell you more than satisfied and that you will be ready to exclaim that actually making a Minecraft server was a real no-brainer. Ready? Yes? Well, let’s get started.

Before explaining how to make a Minecraft server, however, I must firstly tell you something. The procedure that must be carried out to succeed in the business is slightly different depending on whether you are using a PC or a Mac . Then identify, below, the indications that are right for you and stick to them according to the type of computer you have.

Note:  In order to run the program that allows you to make a Minecraft server, the Java platform must be installed on the computer, regardless of the operating system in use  . Make a Minecraft server on PC

If you want to understand how to make a Minecraft server and use a PC the first thing you need to do is connect to the website of the famous game and download the free program to your computer thanks to which you can create customized Minecraft servers. To do this,  click here  and once the main web page of the game’s website is displayed, press the item  minecraft_server.1.8.7.exe .

When the download is complete, move the one you just downloaded to a new folder where you want to save the Minecraft server files to be created. Then double click on the downloaded file to start it. Then press  Run  and wait a few moments for a whole series of files and directories to appear in the folder where you copied the downloaded file, in which the data of your server will be contained.

Once you have done these operations, I can’t help but tell you: accomplishments, you have just completed the first fundamental step to make a Minecraft server on Windows.

Now that you have the folder with all the files on your personal server at your disposal, you also have the possibility to change its settings. To change server settings, open the server.properties file   with   Windows Notepad . To do this, locate the server.properties file   in the folder, double-click on it, check the item  Select the program from a list of installed programs  and then press  OK . Next select  Notepad  and then click the OK button  .

Now proceed by changing the values ​​of the options that you find preset in the document. Depending on what your needs and preferences are, you can change the name of the level, the presence of a white list, the possibility of letting non-premium users play and much more.

If you have a ready-made world that you want to use on your Minecraft server, delete the world folder   and replace it with the one of the world you want to use.

To apply the changes made, close  minecraft_server.exe  and then restart it .

Now that you have finally managed to make Minecraft server to be able to use it to play, you need to host it. To host a Minecraft server you must use  LogMeIn Hamchi , a paid application also available in a free version that allows you to create servers that can be used by a total number of five users simultaneously.

Therefore connected to the LogMeIn Hamachi website  by clicking here  then put the check mark next to the item  The LogMeIn software and service are subject to the US export regulations […]  which is located at the bottom of the page and then click on the color button green  Download now  to download the program to your computer.

When the download is complete, double-click on the file you just downloaded and, in the window that opens, click first on  Run  and then on  Next , on  Next , on  Accept , on  Install and then on  Finish  to complete the installation process and start LogMeIn Hamachi.

In the LogMeIn Hamachi window that is shown to you at this point click on the power button located at the top left to activate LogMeIn Hamachi then select the Network item   and then click  Create new network  from the application menu to start creating a new server. In the window that opens, type  Network ID  and  Password to  be used to access the latter and then press the Create button   to complete the procedure.

Now that you’ve managed to make Minecraft servers on Windows and now that you’ve also hosted it, you can finally use your creation to play with your friends. But keep in mind that to do this your friends will have to download and install LogMeIn Hamachi on their computer. Subsequently, from the program menu, they must first select the item  Network  and then the one  Join existing network . Finally they will have to enter the name and password to access your network and they will have to wait for the program to connect to it.

Once the connection is established, your friends must start Minecraft, click on the Multiplayer button  , choose the Direct access option   and enter the address of your server in the appropriate field. To copy the server address, simply right-click on its name in Hamchi and select  Copy IPv4 address  from the menu displayed.

If you own a Mac and want to find out how to make a Minecraft server, the first thing you need to do is  click here  so that you can immediately connect to the game’s website. Then presses on the item  minecraft_server.1.8.7.jar  to download to your Mac the free program thanks to which you can create customized Minecraft servers.

Once the download is complete, take the file you just downloaded and move it to a folder where you want to save the Minecraft server files to be created. Once done, click on the file with the right mouse button, choose the Open item   from the displayed menu and then press on  Open .

At this point, click on the TextEdit icon   on the dock (you can also access it from the Applications folder   as well from the  Launchpad ) and then press the New document button   in order to create a new text document.

Then click on the Format item   attached to the TextEdit menu bar and select the  Convert to text only format item . Then copy and paste the code you see below into the text file.

Finally, click on the File item   attached to the menu bar, choose the Save … item  , assign the name  start.command  to the ep file or press it on  Save .

Now start  Terminal . If you don’t know how to do it, just press the magnifying glass located in the upper right part of the OS X menu bar, type  terminal  in the search field displayed and double-click on the first result, the one that is indicated as the  best .

Once Terminal has started, type the command you see below in its window, taking care to add a space after the character  x .

chmod a + x

At this point, click on the start.command file   and drag it into the Terminal window, then press the Enter key   on your Mac keyboard in order to save the changes made to the file.

Once you have done these operations, I can’t help but tell you: accomplishments, you have just completed the first fundamental step to make a Minecraft server on Mac.
