How to make a drawbridge on Minecraft: Now that you’ve built yours castle on Minecraft, it’s time to create a drawbridge over the moat you dug. Unfortunately, however, you have no idea how to carry out this project and you have sought help on the Web, coming across this guide of mine. Things are this way, am I right? Then you will be happy to know that you have come to the right place at the right time.
In today’s guide, in fact, I will illustrate you in detail how to make a drawbridge on minecraft, through two distinct projects: one that consists in creating a bridge that is apparently realistic, but unfortunately not functional, while the other that allows you to create a less “scenographic” but functional one. Obviously, before doing everything I will list all the materials you will need to give life to these projects.
How do you say? Can’t wait to start reading this guide of mine? Well, what are you waiting for impaled there? Let’s not waste any more precious time and get to work immediately. What you need to do is start Minecraft and take all the time you need to read carefully and put into practice the indications that you will find in the next chapters. All that remains for me is to wish you a good read and, above all, have fun!
Collect the necessary materials
Before I talk to you about how to make a drawbridge on minecraft, it is important to indicate which materials you will have to recover to face the projects I will tell you about in the next chapters. Being two separate projects, you will need specific materials for each of them. Let’s go in order.
In case you want to build a realistic drawbridge which, however, you will not be able to operate in any way, you will need wood. From the wood you will then have to make some blocks of steps, of the wooden slabs and of fences, using a workbench.
As for i blocks of steps, to make them, they are only needed 6 units of wooden boards, while for the slabs only 3 units of wooden boards. For the fenceinstead, you have to use 4 units of wooden boards is 2 units of sticks, which you can also create with 2 units of axes.
To create i leashes (you’ll only need two), you need to get it 4 string units is 1 slime ball unit. There twine it is easily found by defeating i spiders or destroying them cobwebs; there slime ballinstead, it is obtained by defeating the Slime: creatures found underground or in swamps.
If your intent is, instead, to make a automatic and working drawbridge, you need to obtain different resources than those indicated for the other project. First of all, you need gods sticky slippers, which you can achieve by joining a piston with a slime ball. A simple piston can be made with 3 units of wooden boards, 4 units of crushed stone, 1 unit of iron ingot is 1 redstone unit.
In addition, you will have to create gods redstone boosters, which are obtained with 3 stone units, 1 redstone unit is 2 redstone torch units. The latter can be easily created with 1 redstone unit is 1 stick unit.
There redstone, in addition to being useful for making the materials that I have indicated in the previous paragraphs, you also need to create the bridge activation circuit. You can find this resource underground or even in trunks during your explorations.
Finally, you need one lever, useful for operating the bridge mechanism: you can create one, in a workbench, using 1 unit of crushed stone is 1 stick unit. Also, build gods dry with 3 units of iron ingots, with which you must collect water or lava to fill the moat.
Build a drawbridge
If you want build a drawbridge on Minecraft, in the next few lines I will explain how to carry out this project. I will show you the procedures to follow to create a realistic one, which you will not be able to operate (therefore you will not be able to raise or lower it on the moat in front of your refuge).
The first thing you need to do is to dig a moat (no matter how deep it is). After that, position two fence units on the upper ends of the refuge entrance. At the fences you will then have to hook the rope, but I will talk about it in detail later in this guide.
After carrying out this operation, use the blocks of wooden steps and those of wooden plate to build the drawbridge.
Start, therefore, from the entrance of your refuge, positioning 2 blocks of wooden steps on both sides. Once that is done, place the wooden slabs for the entire length of the bridge, until it reaches the opposite bank of the moat.
Now, leaving a block of space from the moat, dig one deep hole two blocks and place a rabbit or one hen inside. This operation is necessary so that you can simulate the ropes that pull up the drawbridge. In fact, you’ll have to hook a leash to the animal, and then connect it to fence that you had placed at the top of the entrance to your refuge.
Before carrying out this operation, however, after putting the leash on the animal, cover the hole with wooden steps, so that the latter cannot go out.
Repeat the same operation on the other side and complete the drawbridge with the last ones wooden slabs to be placed. You just have to fill the ditch with somewater or of the lava, to complete your project.
Build an automatic draw-point
If you want, instead, build an automatic drawbridge, so that you can activate and deactivate it as often as you deem it appropriate, you must carefully follow the procedures that I will indicate in the next paragraphs. It will not be a bridge that you can raise and lower as it does in reality, but it will be an equally functional project for your purpose.
The first thing you need to do is to dig a moat in front of the entrance to your refuge. No matter how far the two sides of the moat are, the important thing is that this is deep three blocks.
Once this is done, at the bottom of the moat, place gods sticky slippers and also dig two lines of blocks on each side, right next to the pistons. In the latter, you have to place a line of redstone boosters, which will serve to operate the pistons, connected together by a line of redstone.
At this point, add gods blocks of any material on the sticky pistons, which will be the walkable base of the bridge, when you activate it.
The only thing left to do is to bring the redstone circuit up to the entrance of your refuge, in order to place one lever, through which you can operate the drawbridge. To do this, dig a staircase system, starting from the bottom of the moat and taking care to connect both sides of the circuit.
Well! At this point, you are almost at the end of the realization of the project. Cover with gods blocks the whole redstone circuit, so that it cannot be seen or destroyed, in case I fill the lava moat. Then fill the moat with water or, if you prefer, of lava, helping you with a bucket.
If you followed the instructions I gave you to the letter, you will have built a drawbridge that you can activate and deactivate using a simple one lever, to be placed at the entrance, right near the end of the circuit: the same that you made using the previously excavated staircase system. It was easy, wasn’t it?
