Log out of Facebook from your computer
Are you interested in finding out how to log out of Facebook by acting as a computer? As I told you at the beginning of the article, the operation is quite simple to do, much more than you can imagine. Find all the explanations on what to do below.
If you want to learn how to log out of Facebook on your computer, in order to close your visit session on the social network and not be connected the next time the browser is started, all you have to do is click on the down arrow placed at the top right of the Facebook pages and select the item Go out from the menu that opens.
By doing so, you will be redirected to the main page of the social network where you will be asked for your username and password to log in. At this point, even trying to close and reopen the browser to log into your profile, you will need to type in your login credentials.
Before disconnecting from your account, however, I recommend that you disable access using your profile image, which is the function that allows you to access your account by typing only your password after selecting your profile image, in fact, in the social network home.
To do this, click again on the down arrow which is at the top right of the social network pages, select Settings from the menu that appears and then the wording Security and access on the left.
Then locate the section Access on the right and press the button Edit present in correspondence with the wording Sign in with your profile picture. Finally, click on the button Disable sign in with profile picture and it’s done.
Manage active sessions
Sometimes, however, it may happen that you use a public PC (eg in a hotel, an Internet Café, etc.) and leave your Facebook session active. So? How to close it without going back and having physical access to the computer? Nothing simpler.
Connect with any PC to your Facebook profile, click on the symbol of down arrow located at the top right and select the item Settings from the menu that appears. On the page that opens, click on the wording Security and access located in the left sidebar and locate the section Where are you logged in which is on the right.
You will then find all your Facebook sessions left open, each of which is marked with the following data: the name of the device used, the geographical location of reference, the browser or app used and the date and time of the last access. If you are unable to see the complete list of active sessions, click on the item Other… to expand it.
Once you have identified the session that you have left active and that you want to stop, click on the button with i three dots vertically that you find next to us and select Go out from the menu that opens. That’s all!
If you then want to disconnect all sessions, instead of repeating the above steps each time, click on the entry Disconnect from all sessions that you find at the bottom right after clicking on the item Other… to view all active sessions.
Log out of Facebook from smartphones and tablets
As I told you at the beginning of the guide, quitting Facebook is an operation that can also be done from smartphones and tablets, using the official app of the social network. Even in this case, the procedure is quite simple. Let’s see immediately how to proceed. Find everything explained below.
To be able to log out of Facebook using the social network app for smartphones and tablets, all you have to do is press the button with the three lines horizontally on the right, scroll to the bottom of the new screen displayed and tap on the item Go out.
If you are using iOS, then confirm what your intentions are by pressing again on Go out, in the menu that appears on the screen. Et voila!
Proceeding as I have just indicated, you will be returned to the main screen of the application from which to access your account you will have to re-enter your e-mail address and password. Obviously, even trying to close and reopen the app will not change absolutely anything, having logged out you will always have to enter the relevant login credentials.
Manage active sessions
You have logged into Facebook on another device or computer, you have forgotten to log out as I have indicated in the previous lines and now you would like to understand if there is a system, even from smartphones and tablets, to manage active sessions and disconnect therefore “remotely”? Yes, of course. I’ll explain immediately how to do it.
First of all, start the Facebook app on your device and log in to your profile, then press the button with the three lines horizontally on the right, scroll the displayed screen and select the wording Settings and privacy then press on Settings.
Now, press on the wording Security and access annexed to the section Protection then locate the box Where are you logged in and scroll through the list of the various devices from which you connected to your Facebook account and did not log out. If you can’t see the whole list, tap on the item Other… to expand it.
Each session is marked with the following data: the name of the device used, the geographical position of reference, the browser or app used and the date and time of the last access. Then locate the one for which you want to disconnect, press the button with i three dots vertically adjacent and select Go out from the menu that appears.
Do you want to disconnect multiple Facebook sessions simultaneously? In this case, instead of carrying out the above steps each time, click on the item Disconnect from all sessions that you find at the bottom of the screen after pressing on the wording Other… to view the complete list of active sessions.
Instead of leaving Facebook, you are interested in knowing if it is possible to log out only and exclusively from Messenger and, if so, how should we proceed? Well, starting from the fundamental assumption that at the time I am writing this guide, a dedicated function is unfortunately not yet available (and it is not known if it ever will be), to succeed in your intent you can put into practice some special tricks. So let’s see how to proceed on Android and iOS.
If you are using an Android smartphone or tablet, to exit the Facebook Messenger app you can proceed by deleting all the application data that are saved on the device. To do this, grab your smartphone or tablet, unlock it, access the screen where there are all the apps and press the icon of Settings (the one in the shape of gear). Then tap on Applications and select Messenger.
At this point, select the wording Archiving (or Memory) and, finally, press the button Clear data. At the end of the operation, all Messenger data will be deleted and, consequently, the app will be logged out.
If, on the other hand, you want to log out of the Facebook Messenger app by acting from an iPhone or an iPad, the procedure you have to start is good or bad the same as that seen together in the previous lines, when I explained to you how to manage active sessions from mobile. In fact, after having “grabbed” your iDevice and unlocked it you have to tap on the Facebook app icon and you have to press the button with the three lines horizontally bottom right.
In the new screen that at this point you are shown to press on the item Settings which is at the bottom and then on Account settings. Now, press on the wording Security and access annexed to the section Protection and locate the box Where are you logged in.
Then scroll through the list of the various devices from which you connected to your Facebook account until you find the one corresponding to the wording Messenger. If you can’t see the complete list, tap on the item Other… to expand it.
Finally, press the relative button with i three dots vertically and select Go out from the menu that appears. Done!
In case of doubts or problems
Even if you have followed my instructions on how to log out of Facebook, you have not yet succeeded in your intent? Is there something that is not yet very clear to you and you would like to receive more information about it? So do this: take a look at the service center of the social network and try to see if in this way you can dispel your doubts.
Therefore, proceed to connect to the home page of the help center and type in the keyword related to your question (eg. logout) in the search bar at the top, then select the relevant suggestion and consult the relevant help page.
You can also try to see if among the articles you find in correspondence with the section Popular topics, below, there is something suitable for your situation.
I would also like to point out that the Facebook Help Center is also accessible through the social network app available for Android and iOS. You can access it by pressing the button with the three lines horizontally on the main screen and pressing on the item Service center (on Android) or by going to Service and Support> Help Center (on iOS). The operation is good or bad the same as the one just seen together with regard to the desktop variant.
If you think you need more information on what to do, I suggest you consult my tutorial dedicated specifically to how to contact Facebook through which I proceeded to talk to you about the thing in great detail as well as to indicate what other systems you have from yours to get in touch with the team of the famous social network.
