Put them into practice and tonight you will definitely go to sleep more peaceful!

So, are you ready to get started? Yup? Great! Strength and courage: take all the time you need to concentrate on reading the next paragraphs, implement the “tips” that I will give you and you will see that everything will go the right way. I wish you happy reading and I wish you a big good luck for everything!

Enable two-factor authentication

One of the first things you need to do to lock Facebook is to turn on two-factor authentication . By doing so, if someone were to try to enter your account, they will not be able to do so (even if they have identified the password of the same), as it would also be necessary to provide a second password received via SMS, email or authentication app (recommended choice, as it is safer).

How do you enable two-factor authentication? I’ll explain it to you right away. If you prefer to act from mobile , access Facebook from the official app of the service for Android or iOS / iPadOS , press the button (≡) and press the Settings and privacy> Settings> Security and access> Use two-factor authentication items . In the screen that opens, select the security method you want to use to receive the verification codes (eg Authentication app or SMS text message ) and press the Continue button .

Then follow the instructions you see on the screen to complete the operation, providing in the appropriate text field the verification code that you receive according to the method chosen above (if you have chosen to use an authentication app you will have to scan a QR code with your smartphone), then press the Continue button , provide your account password , press the Continue button again and you’re done.

From a PC , on the other hand, access Facebook from its main page , click on the button (▾) located at the top right and click on the Settings and privacy> Settings items in the opened menu. In the new page displayed, click on the Security and access item on the left and click on the Edit button located under the heading Use two-factor authentication (on the right).

Once this is done, click on the authentication option you prefer to use (eg Use authentication app or Use SMS text message ), press the Continue button and follow the instructions that appear on the screen to complete the procedure (the steps are almost the same that I indicated in the previous lines, relating to the mobile version of Facebook).

Change the visibility of posts and stories

Even change the visibility of posts and stories is a useful thing to protect a greater extent the privacy of your Facebook account. Let me tell you how to do this on both mobile and PC.

From mobile , access Facebook from the official app of the service for Android or iOS / iPadOS and, to change the privacy of the new posts you intend to publish, tap on the text field What are you thinking about? .

At this point, open the first drop-down menu located under your name and select the privacy option that seems most suitable for you (eg Friends , Friends except… , Specific friends , Only me , etc.). Proceed to publish the new post you are creating and that’s it: starting from this moment the same privacy settings will be applied also for subsequent posts.

As for posts published in the past , know that you can limit their viewing to friends only. To do this, press the button (≡) and press the Settings and privacy> Settings> Privacy settings items ; then tap on the item Limit who can see old posts and press the button Limit past posts (twice in a row). By doing this, posts published in the past will only be visible to those on your friends list (or those you have tagged in your posts and their friends).

With regard to the stories , however, once you arrive in the Privacy Settings screen , tap on the words Who can see your stories? and select the option you prefer to use (eg Friends , Hide story to , Custom , etc.).

To act on the sharing options of the stories and prevent others from sharing yours in their own, instead go to the Settings and privacy menu > Settings> Story settings , select the item Sharing options , tap on the option of your interest (eg . Do you want to allow others to share your stories public in their history? ) and select the option Only me .

Do you prefer to act as a PC ? No problem. First, log into Facebook from its main page and, to change the privacy of new posts, click on the text field What are you thinking about [your name]? . Open the drop-down menu located under your name and select the privacy option you prefer (eg Friends ). By doing so, starting from the publication of this new post, Facebook will apply the privacy option you have selected earlier to all subsequent posts.

To limit the display of old posts (so that they are visible only to those who are in your friends list or whom you have tagged, together with their respective friends), instead click on the button (▾) at the top right and, in the menu that opens, select the items Settings and privacy> Settings . Therefore, choose the Privacy item located on the left, click on the Restrict past posts link (on the right), click on the Restrict past posts button that appeared on the screen and confirm the operation by clicking on the blue button Restrict past posts .

As for the stories , however, it is only possible to act on the sharing options of the same, preventing others from sharing them. To do so, click on the Stories item located on the left, click on the Edit link next to the sharing options and select the item Do not allow .

Change the privacy of your profile information

One important thing I recommend you do, if you want to protect your privacy on Facebook, is to change the privacy of your profile information . By doing so, other people will not be able to see certain information about you.

To do this from mobile , log in to Facebook from the official app of the service for Android or iOS / iPadOS devices and go to the Settings and privacy menu > Settings> Privacy settings> Manage your profile . Next, locate the information you want to hide from the profile and tap on the pencil icon or on the word Edit located in its correspondence. Finally, select the privacy option you want to use (eg Only me ) and save the changes made using the button at the bottom of the screen.

The same operation can also be performed from a PC . To do this, log into Facebook from its main page , click on your name (top right), to go to your profile, and click on the Information tab .

At this point, select the category of information on which you intend to act (eg Overview , Work and education , etc.), click on the gray dot that represents the current privacy option used for the information on which you intend to act, click on the privacy option you want to set (eg Just me , Friends , etc.) and that’s it. The changes will be applied immediately.
