How to install Skype on mobile

If you want to know how to install skype on mobile, you should know that the procedure to follow will take you just a few minutes of your free time, as long as you carefully follow the instructions below. Here’s how to do it on both Android and iPhone.

If you have a smartphone Android (or even a tablet equipped with the same operating system) you can install this very famous messaging service both from Play Store, the official store of Android devices equipped with Google services, but also from other sources, if you use a device without the aforementioned services. But let’s go in order.

In case your Android smartphone is equipped with the Google Mobile Services (GMS)installing any app is very simple, as all you have to do is get it from the Play Storewhose icon, the colored ▶ ︎ symbol, is available on the home screen or in the drawer (the screen with the list of all the apps installed on the device).

I remind you that in order to download an app from the Play Store, your smartphone is required to be connected to the Internet and to be associated with a Google account. If you do not yet have a Google account, you can easily fix it by referring to the advice I have given you in this tutorial.

Once the Android virtual store has started, use the search bar at the top to type in the term “Skype”. Among the search results, the one you need to select is the one named Skype or Skype Lite. The latter is a lighter version of the application, with limited data consumption, designed for less performing devices.

The app is also present Skype Previewbut I do not recommend you to download it, as it is a developing version, where the new features proposed to users who want to participate in the Insider program are available in preview (it can be less stable than the main version, therefore it is better if you rely on to the latter).

Once this is done, select the app name to access its descriptive card. In case you have some difficulty accessing these sections, you can try to reach the following Play Store links from your smartphone: Skype And Skype Lite.

Now, you just have to press the button Install, to proceed with the download and installation of the Skype app on your smartphone. It was easy, am I right? You will find the app icon on the home screen or in the drawer, ready for its use, for which you will need a Microsoft account.

Install Skype from the Amazon Appstore

If you have a mobile phone without Google services and the Play Store, such as smartphones Huawei from the P40 serieswhich are instead equipped with Huawei Mobile Services (HMS), you can download the Skype app from alternative stores. An example is Amazon AppstoreAmazon’s virtual store for Android apps.

First of all, however, you will have to enable the installation of apps from unknown sources, which I told you about in detail in this tutorial of mine. Once this is done, you can download the APK of theAmazon Appstore from this linkvia your smartphone.

I remind you that to use the Amazon Appstore you need to have an Amazon account, which you will need to log in to this virtual store. Again, all you have to do is search for the Skype app via the Amazon Appstore search engine to install it.

Only one version of Skype is available on this Amazon virtual store, called Skype (Kindle Tablet Edition). Regardless of the name, I would like to point out that it works on Android smartphones but, if you encounter any anomalies, you can make use of the Skype app available on other virtual stores, as I explained to you in this guide.
