But now you want to fix it and you’re here to get some clarification on how to install Minecraft on PC , right? Perfect. Then don’t worry, you’ve come to the right place.
Take five minutes of your time and I’ll show you step by step how to download Minecraft to your computer. To be even more precise, we will first see what the hardware and software requirements are necessary for the correct functioning of the game (I immediately anticipate that you need a medium power computer with any operating system), after which we will see how to register on the official Minecraft website – operation without which it is not possible to play – and finally we will find out how to download the video game in full version (at a price of 19.95 euros) or in a trial version (free).
You know what? Perhaps it will take even less than the five minutes previously feared. It’s all so simple that in no time you will find yourself catapulted into the fantastic world of Minecraft ready to look for building materials, create work tools, shelters and weapons to defend yourself from the attacks of enemies. So, are you ready to start? The fun starts now!
What do I need to install Minecraft?
You don’t have to have a particularly powerful computer to play Minecraft. The game runs on most PCs in recent years and is compatible with both Windows and Linux and Mac OS X. This is the complete list of its hardware requirements.
- Processor: Intel Pentium D or AMD Athlon 64 (K8) at 2.6 GHz.
- RAM: 2GB.
- Integrated GPU: Intel HD Graphics or ATI Radeon HD Graphics with OpenGL 2.1 support.
- Dedicated GPU: Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT or AMD Radeon HD 2400 with OpenGL 3.1 support.
- Free hard disk space: 200MB.
On the software front, Minecraft ensures compatibility with all the most popular versions of Windows, OS X and with the main Linux distros. However, do not forget to install Java , otherwise the game will not work.
If you have not yet installed Java on your computer, connect to the software’s website and click on the Free Java download button first and then on Accept and start the free download . When the download is complete, follow the procedure that best suits your operating system.
If you use a Windows PC, open the jre-xx-windows-x64.exe file and click on Yes first and then on Install and Close to finish the setup. If you are asked to download promotional content (e.g. the Yahoo! toolbar), remove the tick from the appropriate item and click on Next to refuse.
If you use a Mac, open the dmg package in which Java is contained, start the executable Java 8 Update xx , click on the Open button and type the password of your user account on OS X (the one you usually use to access the system) . Then click on the Install assistant button and finish the setup by pressing first on Next and then on Close .
Download Minecraft to your PC
You are now ready to install Minecraft on PC , but first you need to create a free account on the game site, otherwise you will not be able to access it.
Therefore connected to the Minecraft website , click on the Register item located at the top right and fill out the form that is proposed to you. I don’t think there is a need to explain in detail how to do this, in any case I tell you that in the Email address and Repeat email address fields you must type your email address while in the Password and Repeat password fields you must enter the password you want to use to access your Minecraft account. In the Date of birth drop-down menu, as easily understood, there is your date of birth.
When you are finished filling in the form, click on the Create account button and you will receive an email containing a verification code which you will have to type on the Minecraft website. Then open the email you received from Minecraft, enter the verification code in the appropriate text field and click on the Verify email button .
At this point, decide whether to continue with the purchase of Minecraft (which costs 19.95 euros) or whether to download the game in a trial version. In both cases, to download Minecraft you have to go back to the home page of the site, log out of your account (by clicking on the appropriate item located at the top right) and select the link Already bought the game? Download it here which is in the right sidebar.
In the page that opens, click on Minecraft.msi if you are using a Windows PC or on Minecraft.dmg if you are using a Mac and the game will be downloaded instantly to your computer.
At the end of the download, to install Minecraft on PC , open the MinecraftInstaller.msi file that you have just downloaded from the game’s website and click first on Yes and then on Next twice in a row, Install and Finish to conclude the installation process by Minecraft.
If you’re using a Mac, open the dmg package that contains the game, select the Minecraft icon and drag it to the Applications folder of OS X. That’s it, the game installation is complete.
Now start the game (using the icon that appeared on the Windows desktop or in the OS X LaunchPad) and wait for all the files necessary for its operation to be downloaded from the Internet. That’s about 40MB of data, so it may take a few minutes.
At the end of the download, log in to Minecraft using the account data you previously created and click on the Play button (or Play demo ) to download the latest data necessary for the game to work and access its main menu.
Then click on the Options button at the bottom, select the Language item from the menu that opens and select Italian from the menu for selecting the language.
Once you have passed this step, all you have to do is go back to the game’s main menu and start your first game of Minecraft. If you downloaded the demo version of the game, you can play for 1 hour and 40 minutes (5 days in the game world).
If you need a hand to play Minecraft , consult my tutorial on the subject in which I explained how to take the first steps in this fun game. Also take a look at the posts where I explained how to play multiplayer on Minecraft , how to build a house or a refuge and how to customize the game by applying skins and mods to it.
In case of problems with the game functioning, try to update Java to the latest version available or force the Minecraft update following the guide that I have dedicated to the topic.
