How to hide Facebook updates: I’m not the kind of person who likes to repeat over and over “I told you“, But in this case I just can’t do without it. You totally ignored my advice not to take too much friend requests on Facebook and now you find yourself in the list of your “friends” people you don’t even know, complete strangers! Well, then start to breathe a sigh of relief, because this is a doable thing using the privacy settings offered by the social network itself. Thanks to these settings, you can hide your posts from a single person or even from all your friends by deciding to show them only to a few “close friends”. And I’ll tell you more: you can do this by acting both from your PC and from the Facebook app for smartphones and tablets.

Hide Facebook updates on your PC

You want to activate the privacy settings I mentioned earlier for hide your Facebook profile updates from PC? Nothing could be simpler: all you have to do is log into your account, go to the social network settings and activate the right privacy settings.

Then connect to the login page of the social network and log in to your account by entering yours e-mail or yours telephone number and the password in the respective text fields and then click on the blue button Log in. Once logged in, click on the symbol of arrow located at the top right (the one found in the blue Facebook bar, next to the “?” symbol) and, in the drop-down menu that opens, click on the item Settings.

At this point, on the page that appears on the screen, click on the item Privacy (found in the menu on the left) and click on the link Edit placed in correspondence with the item Who can see your future posts?, found in section Your activities.

Then click on the item Friends except … present in the menu that opens and, in the box that appears on the screen, indicate the friends you want to hide your future updates from, by clicking on the white ban (which should turn red). Finally, click on the blue button Save Changes.

Mission accomplished! From now on, your posts will be invisible to all the friends you have just selected. The only things that will remain visible by the latter will be the profile information and the photos published in it.

In addition to the procedure I have just indicated, you can determine who will see your future posts by using it as well audience selection tool of Facebook. Haven’t you ever heard of it? This is the tool that allows you to choose who to view posts when you are about to publish one.

To use it, click on the entry What are you thinking about? To change the display settings of an old post or, in any case, a post that has already been published, click on drop down menu placed next to the date the post was published and, in the drop-down menu that opens, select the privacy setting you prefer the most (eg. Friends except … or Only me).

If you want, you can also hide posts you have published in the past from some users. To do this, go back to Settings> Privacy and click the option Limit past posts. To control who views a specific post, use the instead audience selection tool as I indicated in the previous lines and select the level of privacy you prefer the most

Of course, if you want to restore the default Facebook settings, all you have to do is go to Settings> Privacy, click the button Friends except … and manually delete the name of the friends you want to show your updates to or, alternatively, click on the entry Friends to allow all your friends to view your posts or All to allow even those who are not your friends to view your Facebook updates. The same operation can be followed using the audience selection tool.

Hide Facebook updates on Android

For hide your Facebook account updates on Androidinstead, you have to start theofficial application of the social network and use it public selection tool to decide who can see your posts and who can’t.

Then log in to your account (if required) and tap on the wording What are you thinking about? (just like if you were about to post a post). Now, press on the first of the drop down menu placed immediately under your name and, in the box that appears, choose who can view the post by selecting one of the available options: Friends except …, to prevent only some users from viewing the post; Specific friends, to show the update only to some friends or Only me, to make the post invisible.

After selecting one of the privacy settings from those available, these will be applied to all the posts you publish on Facebook from now on. Of course, you can restore the default settings by tapping on the wording What are you thinking about? and selecting the setting that was previously set (ex. All or Friends).

To change the display settings of a post that you have already published in the past, however, presses the symbol (…) located in the post box (top right), tap on the item Edit privacy from the drop-down menu that opens and select the privacy setting you prefer the most (eg. Friends except … or Only me).

If you want to change the display of all your old posts, go to the Facebook settings, press the symbol (≡) located at the top right, tap on the items Account Settings> Privacy> Restrict Who Can See Old Posts and then confirm the operation by pressing on the voice Limit past posts.

Hide Facebook updates on iOS

The procedure that allows you to hide Facebook updates on iOS it does not differ much from the one I explained to you in the paragraph dedicated to Android. Again, you have to start theofficial Facebook app and use it public selection tool integrated into the social network to decide who to show the posts to.

If you have not already done so, then start the social network app on your iPhone or iPad (the one with the white “f” on a blue background), log into your account (if required) and press the wording What are you thinking about?, as if you were about to publish a post.

Then he presses on the first of the drop down menu located immediately below your name and, in the box that appears, select who can view your posts by selecting one of the available options: Friends except …, to prevent only some users from viewing the post; Specific friends, to show the post only to some specific friends or Only me, to make the post private.

After selecting the privacy setting you prefer the most, tap the button end (top right) in order to apply the changes to all the posts you will publish on Facebook from now on. Of course, if you want to retrace your steps, you can restore the default settings at any time by pressing the wording again What are you thinking about? and selecting the setting that was previously set (ex. All, Friends, etc.).

To change the display settings of a post that you have already published on your Facebook profile, instead, tap on the symbol (…) placed in the post box (top right), presses on the item Edit privacy from the drop-down menu that opens, select the privacy setting you prefer the most (eg. Friends except … or Only me) and save the change by pressing on the item end (top right).

To change, instead, the privacy level of all the posts you have published in the past, tap on the symbol (≡) placed at the bottom right, presses on the items Settings> Account Settings> Privacy> Restrict Who Can See Old Posts and then confirm the operation by pressing on the voice Limit past posts.
