What is the PEC and how is it obtained

Before explaining to you how to get free certified e-mail, let me give you some preliminary information about it. First, you need to know that the PEC (acronym for Certified mail) is a tool used to send emails and, more generally, communications with the same legal value as a registered letter with return receipt. Since 2013, it is mandatory for businesses and sole proprietorships, as well as for freelancers enrolled in an association or board.

In order to use the PEC you do not need to install any particular software. In fact, communications can be sent and received from the Web, through specific services of Webmail provided by the managers, through app for smartphones and tablets or by configuring your own PEC mailbox in traditional email clientshow Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird And Apple Mailusing the IMAP and POP3 protocols (although the latter is not recommended, as it is obsolete and does not allow you to synchronize mail with multiple devices).

They are not even necessary hardware devices details. What differentiates the PEC from any other mailbox is its system for sending and receiving certified emails: when an email is sent to another PEC address, you receive a notification relating to acceptance by the manager and, subsequently, the recipient also receives notification of the successful delivery, which certifies, therefore, compliance with the standards and receipt.

How to get free certified e-mail for individuals

Having made the necessary premises, in the next chapters I will talk to you in detail about how to obtain the PEC. This service, as mentioned, is usually paid and is obtained through the subscription of a monthly or annual subscription made available by an authorized provider (there are many to choose from).
