How to format your Windows 8 PC: Has your Windows 8 computer started messing around? Do you show a lot of errors and it seems very slow? You could try to restore the system by following the instructions in my guide on the subject, but if not even that solution gives the desired results, only the formatting remains.
In this regard, today I propose a guide on how to format your Windows 8 PC thanks to which you can see together how to format your computer’s hard disk and install a new copy of Windows on it.
This is a much simpler operation than you imagine but, be careful, because by implementing it all data on the PC will be deleted. This means that before moving forward you absolutely need to make a backup copy of all your files
In order to format Windows 8 you need to get an operating system installation disk or a USB flash drive on which the files for the installation of the latter have been copied.
If you don’t have DVDs or USB sticks for installing Windows 8 or Windows 8.1, you can create one by downloading this small utility from the Microsoft website and choosing the type of media to be created. Using it is very simple. Download is complete open, double clicking on it, the file you just downloaded (eg OSGS14-WindowsSetupBox-32bitand64bit-English-4141408 ) and type in the product key of your copy of Windows 8 / 8.1.
Next, choose whether to create a USB drive or an ISO file (then a DVD) for the installation of the operating system and follow the instructions on the screen. In the case of the USB stick, all you have to do is connect a stick with at least 4GB of free space to the computer and wait for the copy of the files to end. If you decide to create a diskette, instead, you will have to wait for the creation of the ISO file and burn it on a blank DVD using any software suitable for the purpose (read my guide on how to burn ISO files , if you don’t know how to do it).
At this point, to start formatting, insert the USB stick or the DVD with the installation files of the operating system you have just created into the computer and restart the PC: in this way the Windows 8 / 8.1 setup should automatically start.
If this is not the case and the copy of Windows already installed on the PC normally starts, it enters the BIOS and changes the boot order by setting the CD / DVD drive or USB port as the first boot device. I explained in detail how to do it in my tutorial on how to enter the BIOS .
Here we are! Now all you have to do is install Windows 8 by selecting Italian from the menu for choosing the language and clicking on Next and then on Install . Then type the product key of your copy of the operating system, click again on Next and accept the conditions of use of the operating system by placing the check mark next to the item I accept the license conditions .
At this point, click once more on Next and select the Custom item from the screen that opens. Then click on the icon of the drive on which you want to install Windows (eg Local disk C:) , select the option Drive options (advanced)> Format to format the partition and click on the Next button to start the installation of the operating system. If some steps are not clear to you, deepen the topic by reading my guide on how to install Windows 8 .
At the end of the installation (it will take about 20 minutes), you will be offered the initial configuration procedure of Windows 8 in which to create set the system preferences (Start Screen color, Internet connection to use, time zone, user account, etc.) and then you can start working with your brand new operating system.
