How to format Windows 8: The computer with Windows 8 installed that you usually use has started to give some problems and a friend told you to try to cope with the thing with a nice formatting? No doubt about it, you have been given an excellent tip without a doubt! However, if you are reading this guide right now it is most likely because you do not know how to do it. If this is actually the case, however, you have nothing to worry about: I can explain what to do for format Windows 8.

Contrary to what you may think formatting Windows 8 is a much simpler operation to do than to say. In fact, you just need a minimum of patience and concentration as well as a few minutes of free time and you’re done.

Before pointing out, step by step, all you need to do to be able to format Windows 8, however, there is one thing you need to know. The procedure you need to perform to get the formatting done is slightly different depending on whether you have the Windows installation DVD or not. Then follow the procedure indicated below that you believe is more appropriate to what you have.

In addition, considering that the formatting procedure eliminates all the data on the computer in an unrecoverable way, I suggest you carry out a backup what you think is most appropriate before formatting Windows 8. Format Windows 8 with installation DVD

If you intend to find out how to format Windows 8 and have the Installation DVD of the operating system the first thing you need to do is insert the DVD in the PC and reboot the system.

When the computer is restarted, wait for the writing to appear on the screen Press any key to boot from CD-ROM or DVD-ROM and press any key on the PC keyboard to start the Windows 8 setup.

If you are unable to boot the DVD for the installation of the operating system, you probably need to set the BIOS so that it sees the DVD drive of the computer as the reference drive for booting. To know how to do it, read my guide on how to set up the BIOS.

Once the Windows 8 installation procedure has started, select Italian from the drop-down menu relating to the item Language to install attached to the window that is shown to you on the screen then set Italian (Italy) from the drop-down menu relating to the item Time and currency format and then select Italian from the drop down menu of Keyboard layout or input method. Then click on the button first Forward located at the bottom right and then up Install.

Now type the product key of your copy of Windows 8 in the appropriate text field and click again on Forward. Then accept the conditions of use of the operating system by placing the check mark next to the item I accept the license conditions, and click once more Forward.

At this point click on the item custom, select the drive on which you want to install the system, select the option Unit options (advanced) and then presses up Format to format the selected partition. Then click on the button Forward to start copying the Windows files to your PC. After a few minutes the PC will reboot itself.

When the computer restarts, wait for the initial configuration of the devices to be carried out, then follow the initial configuration procedure of Windows 8 that displays on the screen. Then choose the name you want to assign to the computer, the color you want to use as the background of the Start Screen, the settings referring to updates, those relating to file sharing and all the other settings. If you prefer to use the default settings, click on the button Use quick settings.

At this point, to complete the procedure by which to format Windows 8, you must enter your Microsoft e-mail address (Live, Hotmail or Outlook). The Microsoft email address is essential in order to use the cloud features of the operating system. If you are not interested in synchronizing data and apps between multiple PCs via Microsoft cloud services, you can decide to use a standard local user account by clicking first on Sign in without a Microsoft account and then on Local account.

Finally, enter the username and password you want to use for your user account on the PC. Keep in mind that if you entered your Microsoft e-mail address in the previous step, the username and password for the account on the PC will be the same as the access data of the e-mail address. To conclude the procedure, click on the button end. You will be able to start using the system after a brief presentation of its new features.

Format Windows 8 with USB stick

If you intend to format Windows 8 but you do not have the operating system installation DVD at your disposal, you can remedy it by creating one USB pendrive which allows you to install the Microsoft home operating system from scratch. To do this, however, you need to carry out some simple additional steps compared to the ones I have already indicated in the previous lines.

To create this special USB stick, just use a special utility that you can download directly from the Microsoft website by clicking here. When the download is complete open, double clicking on it, the file you just downloaded and type in the product key of your copy of Windows 8.

Then connect an empty USB stick with at least 4 GB of capacity to the computer, indicates that you want to create a USB drive for the installation of the operating system and then follow the instructions on the screen to complete the procedure. Then wait for the files to finish copying.

When the procedure is completed, close the utility window and restart the computer without removing the USB stick. Doing this should automatically start the procedure by which you can format Windows 8.

In the event that the procedure to format Windows 8 does not start automatically and the copy of Windows already installed on the PC starts normally, it enters the BIOS and changes the boot order by setting the USB port as the first device, following the instructions in the guide that I indicated to you in the previous lines.

Once the installation procedure of Windows 8 via USB stick has started, select Italian from the drop-down menu relating to the item Language to install attached to the window that is shown to you on the screen then set Italian (Italy) from the drop-down menu relating to the item Time and currency format and then select Italian from the drop down menu of Keyboard layout or input method. Then click on the button first Forward located at the bottom right and then up Install.

Then follow the procedure that I have already explained to you in the part of this guide where I showed you how to format Windows 8 using the installation DVD. From now on the procedure to format Windows 8 is practically, whether an installation DVD is used or a USB stick is used.
