How to formalize a Facebook page: Have you ever noticed? The Facebook pages of some famous people are marked with a blue stamp that appears next to their name. Well, you must know that this is a stamp of authenticity, or a symbol that proves the official status of the pages you are visiting. To put it in even simpler words: when pages are created on Facebook in the name of actors, singers or other celebrities, the staff of the social network initiates checks to find out who manages them. If from the verification process it emerges that the personalities they refer to are actually managing the pages, the blue dot is applied.
The same procedure also affects the pages of local companies, to which a gray rather than blue stamp is dedicated. But be careful, because at the time of writing there are important limitations concerning the Italian market: according to what was written by the Facebook Support Team in some of its recent interventions, the request for the blue badges is temporarily suspended, you have to wait for Facebook to proceed with their assignment. As for the gray badges, however, their assignment can still be requested by the page managers but only if these are related to local businesses, companies and organizations.
All clear? Well, then made these necessary premises I would say that we can take action! So if you are looking for a solution related to how to formalize a Facebook page and you want to get your badge, take five minutes of free time and try to follow the directions I am about to give you. I wish you a big good luck for everything!
How to request the badge for a company Facebook page
If your page is related to a local business, you can request the verification badge by connecting to it, selecting the tab Settings located at the top right and first clicking on the item Checking the page and then on the link Check this page in the screen that opens.
Then click on the button Start, fill out the form that is proposed to you by providing a valid phone number, selecting yours village of residence and indicating the language you speak and click on the button Call me now to allow Facebook to send you a verification code. Finally, type the verification code of 4 digits that is communicated to you by the social network and click on Keep it going to complete the procedure.
If you don’t have a phone handy, you can also click on the entry Check this page with documents (bottom left in the form to request the verification code) and validate your identity by sending a copy of a document relating to your company (even a simple bill).
Facebook’s verification process will take a few days. To follow the status of the case, click on arrow located at the top right of the blue Facebook bar and select the item Report summary from the menu that opens. Once the verification is complete, hopefully, the scope will appear next to your page name gray badge and in the settings of the latter, next to the item Checking the page, the message will be displayed Your page is verified.
What to do in case of problems
If you don’t see the option to make your Facebook page official, try going to the panel of Information (by clicking on the appropriate item in the left sidebar) and enter all the required data: description, address, etc. Also make sure that the category to which the page belongs is Local business.
Later, if the problem persists, connect to the support forum for Facebook advertisers and ask for clarification on the matter. The social network’s technical staff should help you solve the problem and / or should give you an explanation as to why your verification request is not being accepted.
For more information on the Facebook page verification process, see official documentation of the social network. If you are looking for a way to get in touch with Facebook technical support but you can’t find it, try following the directions I gave you in my tutorial on how to contact Facebook. One way or another you should be able to get your badge, or at least understand why you can’t have it yet.
How to request the badge for a personal Facebook page
As already mentioned, the verification of Facebook occurs spontaneously by the staff of the social network (i.e. it cannot be performed at the request of the owners of the pages) and for the moment it only concerns popular personalities in various sectors.
Only so-called VIPs can request recognition of their official pages by filling in a specific form. In the form, the page to check, a valid identity document and, if available, a website relating to the personality or to which the page refers.
We “mere mortals” to report the authenticity of our pages to the public can only exploit the page Information, perhaps by inserting links to our websites, and interacting with users. For the rest we must act as a “defense”, that is, block any impostors who pretend to be us.
If there is someone who pretends to be you on Facebook or has created a page in the name of your company without permission, you can report it to the managers of the social network and request measures in this regard. To report a fake page on Facebook, connected to it, press the button Other (…) located on the cover image and select the item Report page from the menu that appears.
In the box that opens, put the check mark next to the item I believe this is an unauthorized use of my intellectual property and click on Keep it going. Alternatively, log out of Facebook, go to This Page and fill out the form that is proposed to you to report the page run by impostors.
You can follow the progress of the report by clicking on arrow located at the top right of the blue Facebook bar and selecting the item Report summary from the menu that opens.
