How to find someone on Facebook without knowing their name: You were recently invited to a party and, quite by accident, you met someone who has caught your attention and who you would love to date in the future. Unfortunately, despite having had a long chat, taken by the emotion of the moment, you completely forgot to ask her the most important thing: her name!
Resolute and determined to find it again, you would like to use the means at your disposal to succeed in your intent: the first “place” that springs to mind is Facebook, since this person almost certainly has a profile on the famous social network. On the other hand, you have no idea how to find a person on facebook without knowing their name and you are touching the idea of throwing in the towel before starting.
Don’t despair, because this is just the right place to start your research: below, in fact, I will show you some effective techniques to trace someone’s identity on Facebook without knowing their name. Of course, I cannot guarantee you that the search will be successful, a lot also depends on luck, but there is a fair chance of succeeding in the enterprise. Do not you believe it? Well, it costs nothing to try: you may be in for a pleasant surprise!
Use the photo search
A big stroke of luck wanted that, in one way or another, I was able to get you a photo depicting the person you are looking for: perhaps it will seem strange to you, but you can use it to try to trace the name and surname of this person.
As? Nothing could be simpler: connect from your favorite browser to the Google image search, presses the icon in the shape of camera located in the search bar, click on the item Upload an image, then on the button Choose file and, using the proposed panels, upload the photo depicting this person. With a bit of luck – if the person in question has posted a photo of him publicly online – you may find his Facebook profile, or at least a reference to his name and surname, among the top places on the search page!
If you want to act from smartphone or tablet, I’m sorry to tell you that you won’t find the option to manually upload an image directly to Google, except by enabling the browser’s desktop view mode (this option is usually attached to at least the options on the main screen). Alternatively, you can use an “external” website to achieve the same result, such as the service offered by labnol.org.
So, to get started, connect to this web page, presses the button Upload Image and, through the proposed screen, proceed to upload the chosen image. After a few seconds (the browser may seem blocked, but it is not), you will be shown a second page confirming the upload of the photo: all you have to do is tap the button Show Matching Images to get results from Google Images. Again and with a bit of luck, you might find the profile of who you are looking for in the search results!
If some details are not clear to you, I invite you to deepen the matter by reading my tutorial on how to search for images on Google.
Consult the contacts of mutual friends
Did you meet this person at the party organized in honor of your friend? Well, there’s a good chance they’re both in contact on Facebook – if so, you might be able to trace his name by browsing the mutual contact’s friends list.
Before explaining how to do it, it is good that you are aware of one important thing: not all contacts make public the lists of friends and, likewise, there is the possibility that a contact does not appear at all in the aforementioned lists. I’ve explained all the details on this topic to you in my guide on how not to appear in Facebook search.
Having made this necessary premise, below I will show you how to consult the contacts of mutual friends both from smartphone / tablet and from PC.
Smartphone / tablet
To get the friends list of your contact, the first thing you need to do is start theFacebook app, then you have to tap onresearch area, at the top (the one marked with a magnifying glass), type the name and surname mutual friend and touch the item for the exact profile.
At this point, on the profile screen, reach the section Friends and press the button See all friends. All you have to do is select the card All and, with a lot of patience, carefully scrutinize all the contacts on the list, looking for the person you are interested in contacting.
Using the search bar Look for friends you can filter your Facebook friend’s contact list by indicating the first name or the surname of the person you are looking for (in case you know one of the two pieces of information).
As I mentioned earlier, you can repeat the same procedure also using Facebook for your computer. To begin with, connected to the main Facebook page, log in, if necessary, type the first name and the surname of a mutual friend in the search box placed in the top left, then click on the result for the contact you are looking for.
At this point, click on the tab Friends placed in the menu bar under your friend’s name and, with a lot of patience, scroll through the list in search of the person you are interested in. If the latter lives in the same city as you, you can “target” the search by clicking on the item Current city (assuming that the chosen person has decided to declare the real city in which he resides on Facebook).
Again, if you need to know at least the name or surname of the person you are looking for, using the bar Near located at the top right you can filter the list of friends and identify, if you are lucky, the person you are looking for.
Use Facebook search filters
If you haven’t had much luck with the previous methods, however find a person on Facebook without knowing their name you can take advantage of the search filters that the social network makes available. Unfortunately, in order to start the search, you still need to know at least his name, surname or nickname.
However, let’s see how to skim the Facebook search results! Below I will explain how you can proceed both from a smartphone / tablet, through the official Facebook app, and from a computer.
Smartphone / tablet
If you want to search for a person on Facebook using the search filters that this social network provides, what you have to do is start theFacebook app and press onmagnifying glass icon that you find in the area above.
At this point, use the search bar at the top to type only the first or last name of the person you are looking for. Once this is done, select the tab People to view a list of names based on the data you entered. Now, to filter the search, click ontoggle icon at the top and, in the box that is shown to you, choose one of the options.
You can indicate the city where he lives, there school or university who has attended oragency he works for. If you are sure that you and the person you are looking for have some mutual friends, put a check mark next to the box Friends of friends. Then press the button Show results to filter the search.
To use the search filters from the Facebook platform on web browsers, please reach the official site of the social network and log in with your account. Once this is done, in the search bar at the top, type at least the name or surname of the person you are looking for and press the button Enter.
Now, from the left sidebar, select the tab People, to filter the search only for users who match that search term you entered. You will also be shown options to further filter your search: Friends of friends, City, Instruction And Work.
Use the suggestions of friends
Another solution that you can put into practice is to hope that the profile of the person you are looking for appears in the list of friendship suggestions.
It is a feature that connects users based on some parameters, which can relate to friendships in common, as well as interests, just to give you a few examples. You will find all the information you need to follow.
Smartphone / tablet
You can find good friendship suggestions by using the automatic engine Facebook which, based on some personal information (place of residence, friends, interactions and so on) can provide excellent results, perhaps allowing you to also find the person you were looking for.
To proceed, start the Facebook app from the app list of your device, touch the ☰ button and then tap on the item Find your friends, so as to make visible the section relating to suggestions, called People You May Know.
At this point, all you have to do is scroll to check if the person you are looking for is in the list. If you have mutual friends, a similar wording will be shown to you right below the user’s name.
To view friend suggestions via your PC web browser, connect to Facebook main page, log in with your account and click on the tab Friends, which you find in the sidebar on the left.
Once this is done, click on the tab Suggestions, to view, in the left area, the list of all the suggested names among which the person you are looking for could be. By clicking on the first name or on thumbnail user, you will be able to view the entire profile in the central area of the screen.
