How to find a secret Facebook group

Rate this post

Chatting with a friend, you learned of the existence of a Facebook group in which we talk about very interesting topics, which is why you would like to join it. It’s just a pity that after extensive research on the famous social network you have not yet been able to find it. Evidently it is a secret group.

In fact, you must know that secret groups, as such, are practically invisible in searches (both internal ones on Facebook and external ones on Google, Bing, etc.) unless you are already a member. Name, components, posts, documents and so on are reserved for participants only and, consequently, it is not possible to apply for access. However, this does not mean that it is impossible to register (otherwise they would not even exist, do you think?). If you want, then, I can explain how to do it.

Do you want? Yup? Great. So let’s not waste any more time chatting and let’s get to work immediately. Position yourself comfortably and immediately start concentrating on reading this guide of mine entirely dedicated to how to find a secret group on Facebook . Together, I assure you, we will see some good ones. Ah, I almost forgot… you can act both as a computer (via the social network’s Web interface) and mobile (using the dedicated app for smartphones and tablets), the choice is yours. Enjoy the reading!

General info on Facebook groups

Before giving you all the necessary information on what to do, it seems only right to provide you with some more info about the nature of a group in general and that of secret groups in particular.

Groups are, in very small terms, “virtual places” where people who share parental ties, work or a passion can meet, discuss and share multimedia material of various kinds. In short, as I proceeded to explain to you in more detail in my article on how to create a group on Facebook, they reflect a bit what happens in groups and parties in “real life”.

Depending on the degree of privacy that is set, they are divided into different types: public groups , which allow registration to anyone who has a Facebook profile, and closed groups , which can be searched and viewed by anyone but only members can post and see the contents on the group notice board and also to subscribe it is necessary that the forwarded request is accepted.

Then there are the secret groups , the ones covered by this guide, which are in fact “invisible” (if searched for, they do not appear!) And to become part of them you need to receive an invitation from those who are already members. Another way to become part of a group of this type is to ask the administrator of the group to temporarily change its privacy by setting one of the two aforementioned options.

Taking into account what has just been written, in the following lines I will then explain to you how to find a secret group on Facebook using the above “techniques”. Unfortunately there are no other systems, at least not at the time of writing this article.

Find a secret Facebook group from your computer

Now that you finally have a clearer idea about the nature of groups in general and that of secret groups specifically I would say that you are finally ready to take the real action. So let’s find out how to proceed to find a secret group on Facebook. Below you will find indicated how to do it from a computer.

First method

How to find a secret Facebook group

Based on what is written in the previous lines, the first system you can adopt to be able to find a secret group on Facebook is to get invited by some of your friends who are already part of it.

To do this, your friend must go to the Facebook home page, access their account and then visit the group page by clicking on the relevant name attached to the left sidebar or by searching for it using the appropriate field at the top of the social network. , he must then press the Other present site button on the cover image of the group and must choose, from the menu that appears, the option Add members .

In the box that and this point will open, your friend will have to enter your name (or your e-mail address) and then click on the Add button .

In addition to the above, your friend who is already part of the secret group of your interest can add you to it by typing your name (or your e-mail address) in the field Enter the name or address and -mail… present in the Add members box on the right side of the group page.

When the invitation is sent, you will receive a notification on Facebook and you will see the icon with the globe “light up” in the upper right part of the social network page. Click on it and it will open a menu which contains a notification type Username has invited you to join the group name secret group (instead of Username you can find the name of the person who sent you, and instead of Name Group are the group name).

All you have to do is click on the notification. By doing so, you will be immediately redirected to the group page. Done! In this way, not only are you able to find the group but now you are also registered. Happy?

Second method

How to find a secret Facebook group

As an alternative to the above system and always on the basis of what is stated in the first step of this guide, another system that you can adopt to be able to find a secret group on Facebook is to ask some of your friends who are already part of it and who administers the group itself or is in contact with the administrator to temporarily change the privacy of the group.

To do this, the administrator of the reference group must first go to the group page by clicking on the name of the person in the left sidebar of Facebook or must search for it using the bar at the top, then you must press the More button that is under the cover image and must select the Change settings item from the group from the menu that appears.

On the next page, you must locate the Privacy section , click on the Change privacy settings button , select Closed or Public and click Confirm for two consecutive wants.

Once this is done, you will be able to find the group that was previously secret by carrying out a simple search through the top bar of Facebook, typing its name and then selecting the emerging result from the list that appears.

If you want, you can refine your search by selecting the Groups tab that you find on the page dedicated to results in such a way as to display only the groups that correspond to the name entered. You can then further filter the results using the options on the left, under the heading Filter results .

Once you have found the group, if you want to subscribe to it, just click on the Subscribe button next to its name. To first view its contents and other useful information that may be visible, you can click on its name and explore the various sections ( Information , Discussion cc.) On the left. If you wish, you can then subscribe from the group page by clicking on the Subscribe to group button at the top. Easier than that?

Find a secret Facebook group from mobile

As I told you at the beginning of the guide, finding a secret group on Facebook is also feasible from mobile, using the social network app for Android and iOS (as well as for Windows Mobile). Let’s see how, you will find everything explained in detail right below.

First method

First, let’s try to figure out how to find a secret group on Facebook by acting as a mobile by being invited by a friend who is already a member.

In this case, the first move that your friend must make is to grab his smartphone, access the screen where there are all the applications and press the Facebook app icon (the blue one with the “F” printed over it”).

Once the main screen of the app is displayed, you must access the secret group by tapping on its name after typing in the search bar at the top or after tapping on the button with the three lines horizontally and then press the Add button under the image of cover, must select your name from the list of users that appears and must press the End item at the top right.

After doing this, you will receive an appropriate notification. Therefore, press the bell symbol attached to the main screen of the social network app and then on the notification User Name has invited you to register in the secret group Name Group (instead of User Name you will find the name of the person who sent you, while at place of Group Name you will find the name of the group). Done! By doing so, not only will you be able to view the group page but you will also be subscribed to the group.

Second method

How to find a secret Facebook group

As per the desktop, the second system you have at your disposal to succeed in the enterprise is to ask some of your friends who are already part of the “offending” group and who administer it or who are in contact with the administrator to temporarily change its privacy.

To do this from mobile, the first move that the group administrator must make is to access the group by searching for it via the search bar at the top of the app screen. Alternatively, you can press on the relevant name after tapping on the button with the three lines horizontally  and then on the item Tools and statistical data for administrators under the cover of the group on the next screen.

Once this is done, your friend will have to select the Settings item and then the wording Privacy after which he will have to choose between  Public or Closed . The changes will take effect immediately.

At this point, you can search for the group by typing its name in the search bar at the top of the Facebook app. You can then eventually refine the search in such a way as to view only the groups by tapping on the Groups item at the top of the displayed screen and taking advantage of the additional filters available, always placed at the top.

Once you have found the group, press the Subscribe button next to its name to subscribe immediately. If, on the other hand, you want to view info, contents, etc. first, stop on the group name and explore the various sections available ( Information , Discussion, etc.). To subscribe, press the Subscribe to the group button and it’s done.
