The procedure that allows you to export contacts from Gmail acting from Android mobile devices is completely different as it will be necessary to be in possession of the Contacts application developed by Google.

On Android mobile devices , in fact, Gmail contacts are automatically synchronized with the Google account that is used to access the device; consequently through the use of this application you can use the list of all contacts and carry out the export.

To carry out the operation of exporting Gmail contacts via your Android smartphone, you must therefore make sure that you have the application mentioned. If not, you will need to download and install it on your device. To carry out this operation, then go to the Android Play Store (the colored ▶ symbol located on the home screen) and, through the internal search engine, download and install the Contacts application by tapping on the Install button and then on the button I agree .

At the end of the installation tap the Open button that will have appeared in the Android Play Store to start the application, or tap the icon of the application which will have been added to the main screen of your device. Once the application is launched, allow it to be able to access and manage your contacts by pressing the Allow button for two consecutive.

Acting from iOS mobile devices, you cannot perform the procedures indicated in the previous lines relating to the export of your Gmail contacts. At the time of writing, in fact, on the iOS mobile devices there is no Contacts application developed by Google.

You can, however, synchronize the contacts of Gmail on iPhone (or iPad) and then use a third-party application to export them in the form of a VCF or CSV file: below I will explain how to do it. Let’s start by activating the Gmail address book on iOS.

From the home screen of your device, tap on the Settings app (the symbol of a gear ). Then scroll down to find the Account and Password item and tap on it. Then, under the word Account , press the Add Account button and then tap on the Google item to add your Google account and consequently import all your contacts into your iOS smartphone.

Once the Google Account has been added, it will appear among the menu items in the Account section . Then tap on it and make sure that the lever at the Contacts item is active. If it is not, move it from OFF to ON to activate it and make it turn green.

At this point, once you have done this, if you open the Contacts application of your iOS device you will be able to find all your Gmail contacts perfectly synchronized. From here, you can export them as CSV or VCF files using an application like My Contacts Backup , which I told you about in detail in my tutorial on how to save the iPhone address book .
