How to exit Outlook: Outlook is the Web Mail service with which Microsoft has decided to replace its historical Hotmail and Live platforms. It is a very simple service to use, accessible from any browser and operating system but, like all boxes accessible from the Web (and therefore from a browser), it presents some small “risks” to which one must be careful: one of these certainly concerns the access to the service.
After logging in to Outlook.com and closing the browser, if you leave the checkbox for automatic access active, just go back to the main page of the service to find yourself logged into the mailbox used previously, without having to type in a name user or password: not exactly the best from the point of view of privacy, right?
If you think this way too, take five minutes of free time and find out how to exit outlook thanks to the information I’m about to give you. In this way, the browser will no longer “remember” you and will not leave your mailbox “open” to anyone who gets their hands on your PC. Furthermore, if you are interested, I will also explain how to achieve the same result in the Outlook mobile app and how to permanently exit the classic version of Outlook for Windows and macOS (the one included in Office). Happy reading and good luck for everything!
How to sign out of Outlook.com
If you use Outlook.com and you want to know how to exit outlook to prevent other people, using your PC, from accessing the service by viewing the contents of your e-mail box, connected to Outlook.com main pageclick on yours initials or yours profile pictureat the top right, and select the item Disconnect from the menu that opens.
You are now logged out of your account but there are still a couple of things you need to do: the first is do not check the “Keep me signed in” option the next time you log in to your Outlook mailbox (in this way, the service will not be automatically accessed); the second, if you really care about privacy, is disable password storage in your favorite web browser.
If you don’t know how to delete saving passwords in Chrome, Firefox, Edge and other important web browsers, read the guide I wrote on the subject and follow the instructions in it: by doing so, you will prevent the browser from remembering your access data to Outlook (or any other Internet site) and complicate your life to any snoopers who want to enter your accounts without permission.
How to sign out of Outlook app
You have installed theOutlook app for Android or iOS and would you like to know if it is possible to exit from the latter in a similar way to what is done in the Web version of the service? Unfortunately, the answer is no.
If your intent is to force the app to ask for account credentials on every launch, I’m sorry to tell you that the only solution available to you would be delete and add the e-mail accounts configured in it each time you use them: somewhat cumbersome and tedious procedure, which I personally advise against.
If, despite this, you feel like doing this procedure, launch the Outlook on your device, press the ☰ button located at the top left and select thegear icon from the menu that opens. Next, choose themail account you want to delete from the application, tap on Delete account and that’s it: the next time you start the application, you will have to set up your account again, so that you can view the messages contained in it.
Close OutlookOn the other hand, terminating the app from the multitasking menu would have no effect on the credentials stored within it: in fact, by reopening the application, all the messages in the mailboxes configured previously would normally be viewable.
In any case, for your knowledge, I tell you that to completely close the Outlook app you have to call the multitasking menu and move the app thumbnail. If you don’t know how to bring up the multitasking menu, know that, on Androidjust press the button square (at the bottom of the screen), while on iOS you have to make one swipe from the bottom of the screen – in the center – upwards and then move your finger slightly to the right. If you are using an iPhone 8/8 Plus or earlier or an iPad equipped with a version of iOS prior to 12, you must recall, instead, the multitasking menu by performing a double press of the Home button. More info here.
That said, the only concrete thing you can do to protect the privacy of your messages in Outlook is protect access to the application by code, fingerprint or facial recognition.
On iOSyou can activate the request for Face ID or Touch ID when Outlook starts by opening the application, pressing the ☰ button located at the top left and selecting thegear icon from the menu that opens. Afterwards, you have to move up ON the switch for the option Request Face ID or Request Touch ID And that’s it. On AndroidInstead, you must necessarily resort to the use of a third-party application to block access to Outlook with a password: I explained how to do this in my tutorial on how to pass passwords to applications.

Your Outlook keeps starting in Safe mode and you don’t know how to solve the problem? Almost certainly, there is a add-on recently installed in the program that is not fully compatible with it and therefore undermines its correct functioning.
