AxCrypt is an excellent free program that allows you to encrypt a folder on Windows 7 and make all the files contained in it inaccessible without entering a password. Using it is very easy and allows you to encrypt / decrypt folders in no more than three clicks. Do not you believe it? Try it yourself.

In the window that opens, type the password you want to use to encrypt / decrypt the folder in the fields Enter the password and Verify the password and click on the OK button to complete the operation.

When the procedure is completed (the duration depends on the number and size of the files contained in the folder to be encrypted), you will get an accessible folder but inside which the files will all have the extension .axx and will not be viewable without entering the password necessary to decrypt them (i.e. the one you have set up with AxCrypt ).

To decrypt individual files, all you have to do is open them with a simple double click and enter the password in the window that opens. If, on the other hand, you wish to decrypt entire previously encrypted folders, right-click on the folder to be decrypted and select the AxCrypt> Decrypt item from the menu that appears.

Then type the password needed to decrypt the folder in the Enter the password field of the window that opens and click on the OK button to complete the operation. In this way, files with the .axx extension will regain their original extensions and will be viewable again by anyone without problems.
