How to download iTunes: iTunes is a very popular multimedia software developed by Apple. Many know it as a simple music player: a player that thanks to the integration with the iTunes Store allows you to buy music online, but in reality it is much more.
With the birth of the iPhone and iPad, iTunes has in fact transformed itself into a much more complex software; a software through which you can manage iOS devices from your PC, synchronize data between iPhone, iPad and computer, create backups, restore iOS devices in case of need and much more. Also, after the launch of Apple Music, iTunes has become the official client through which you can access Apple’s music streaming service from your computer.
In short, if you are an Apple user and you want to better manage your devices, whether you like it or not, you absolutely cannot do without iTunes. Do you use a Mac? Then you have found iTunes pre-installed on your computer. However, if you have any problems you may need to download iTunes manually and reinstall it. How you do it? I’ll explain it to you right away, but first I have to give you some important information.
Starting with macOS 10.15 Catalina, Apple has eliminated iTunes from its operating system and has “broken down” it into three new applications: Music, Podcast And TVdelegating the management of iOS / iPadOS devices to the Finder. It is therefore not possible to download iTunes.
The same goes for macOS 10.14 Mojave, where iTunes is present but is an integral part of the operating system, so it can be installed / reinstalled only by completely restoring macOS.
On previous versions of macOS it is possible to act more freely. The first step you need to take is to connect to the Apple’s website and click on the blue button Downloadto download the program on your Mac (also leave the email address field blank).
When the download is complete, double-click on it to open the file you just downloaded (iTunesxx.dmg) and launch the executable Install iTunes which is located inside.
In the window that opens, click on the button first Go ontwice in a row and then on that Installtype the password MacOS administration (the one you use to access the system) and enter to complete the iTunes installation process.
At the end of the installation, you can start using iTunes as explained in the tutorials I pointed out earlier (the software works the same on both Windows and macOS).
Update iTunes on Mac
If you have no problems installing iTunes but just want to update the software to the latest version, open the Mac App Storego to the card Updates (located at the top right) and install any available updates for iTunes.
Updates for iTunes, macOS and all applications installed through the Mac App Store should be downloaded automatically. If not, open System Preferencesselect the icon for theApp Store and, if not, put the check mark next to the items Check for updates automatically, Download available updates in the background, Install app updates And Install system data files and security updates.
At this point your Mac is set up to automatically check and download updates for iTunes, as well as for the operating system and for all applications downloaded through the Mac App Store.
