Completed adding all album of your interest to the library of iTunes, you have noticed, however, that not all of them have a cover. For this reason, you’ve done some research on the web to learn the detailed steps to get the covers of your albums, ending straight on this guide of mine.
That’s the way it is, right? Then let me tell you that you have come to the right place at the right time! In the next paragraphs, in fact, I will explain to you how to download iTunes album art providing you with all the information you need to succeed in your intent. In addition to showing you the walkthrough of getting album artwork from the iTunes Store automatically, I’ll also tell you how to manually add a cover by uploading it from your computer. Interesting, right?

How to download iTunes album art
The procedure for download iTunes album covers it’s quick and easy. All you need to do is select the album you are interested in and choose the automatic cover download function. By doing so, the latter will be automatically downloaded from the iTunes Store and added to all the songs contained in the album in question.
To download album art that you have added to the iTunes library on Windowsfirst launch Apple’s famous multimedia software and make sure you are logged in with your Apple ID.
If iTunes is not yet installed on your computer, you should know that it is available for free in the form of an application for Windows 10 on Microsoft Store. If, on the other hand, you are using an older version of Windows, you can download it from Apple’s official website. In this regard, my guide on how to download iTunes may be useful.
After launching iTunes, select the option Account in the top bar, choose the item Log in from the menu that opens, enter your Apple ID data in the fields Apple ID And Password and click on the button Log into login.
This is necessary in order for you to automatically get your music album art from the iTunes Store. So, if you don’t have an Apple ID yet, you can create one by clicking on the button Create new Apple ID (if so, you can check out my guide on how to create Apple ID) or choose to manually add artwork to iTunes albums.
At this point, make sure you’ve selected the option Music using the drop-down menu located at the top left and choose the item Bookshelf. Then click on the option Album visible in the sidebar on the left and locate the album of your interest.
If it has no cover (an icon is displayed musical note over gray background), right-click on the album in question and choose the option Get album illustrations from the menu that opens, then press the button Get album illustrationsto confirm your intention, and wait for the download of the cover in question to be completed.
If everything went well, the newly downloaded cover will automatically be added to the selected album and all the songs contained in it. If, on the other hand, you continue to see the icon of the musical note over gray backgroundit means that the cover in question is not available on the iTunes Store (in which case you can add a cover manually) or that the data of the selected album is not correct and, as a result, no match was found. If you want to download album art to iTunes on Mac with macOS 10.14 Mojave or earlier versions, you must know that the program in question is installed as “standard” and the procedure is almost identical to what I have already indicated in the previous paragraphs talking about Windows.
So all you have to do is start iTunes, choose the option Music using the drop-down menu located at the top left and make sure you have selected the option Bookshelf. Once this is done, click on the item Albumright click on the album for which you want to download the cover and choose the option Get album illustrations twice in a row to automatically download the album cover from the iTunes Store.
If, on the other hand, you use macOS 10.15 Catalina or later, you need to know that iTunes has been separated into applications Music, Podcast And TV. To download an album cover, then, launch the application Musiclocate the section Bookshelf visible in the sidebar on the left and click on the item Album.
Now, pause with the mouse pointer on the album of your interest, press on the relative icon of three dots and choose the option Get album illustrations. Then click on the button Get album illustrationsto confirm your intention, and the cover in question will be automatically downloaded from the iTunes Store and added to all the songs contained in the selected album.
Again, if you keep viewing the album without a cover, it means that no match has been found between the album in question and those available on the iTunes Store. If so, you can proceed to download the cover yourself from the Internet and manually add it to the album.
How to manually add iTunes album art
If you don’t have an available internet connection or the automatic cover download didn’t work, you can manually add album art on iTunes. How to do? I’ll explain it to you right away!
If your intention is to manually download your album covers on iTunes, start the program in question, select the option Music using the drop-down menu located at the top left and choose the options Bookshelf (top) e Album (to the left).
Now, right-click on the album of your interest, select the item Album information from the menu that opens and click on the button Edit itemsto confirm that you want to change the information of all the tracks contained in the selected album.
In the new screen that appears, choose the tab Illustrationclick the button Add illustration and select the image to use as the cover (many formats are allowed, including JPG, PNG, GIF And TIFF). Then press on the buttons You open And OK, to save the changes and add the selected cover to the album of your interest. Alternatively, you can also drag the image into the appropriate box or copy and paste using combinations Ctrl + C / Ctrl + V.

If you’ve chosen to manually add your album covers and have a Mac with macOS 10.14 Mojave or earlier versions, launch iTunes, access the section Music and select options Bookshelf And Album.
Once this is done, right click on the album of your interest, select the option Album information from the menu that opens and click on the button Edit itemsthen select the item Illustrationpress the button Add illustration and choose the image of your interest. Then click on the button OK, to add your chosen cover, and that’s it. Alternatively, you can also drag the image into the appropriate box or copy and paste using combinations cmd + c / cmd + v.
If, on the other hand, you use macOS 10.15 Catalina or later, launch the application Musicselect the item Album visible in the sidebar on the left and click on the icon three dots for the album you want to add the cover to. Then choose the option Information from the menu that opens, click on the button Edit items and select the tab Illustration.
Finally, click on the button Add illustrationat the bottom left, select the image to use as the cover, click on the button You open and press on the item OKto apply the changes and add the chosen cover to your album.
