Delete email address from Facebook
Have you changed your email address and are you looking for a way to replace your old address within Facebook? Nothing easier. If you want to delete your email address from Facebook and replace it with a different one, all you have to do is access the social network settings and make a few clicks, or a few taps: below I’ll explain how to act both from smartphones and tablets and from computers.
From smartphones and tablets
If you prefer to act as a smartphone or tablet, start the official Facebook app for Android or iOS , press the ☰ button and go to Settings and privacy> Settings> Personal information . Then tap on the E-mail address item and then proceed as I explained to you in the previous chapter dedicated to the desktop version of Facebook.
If you need to add a new email address to your account, then click on Add email address , fill in the form that is proposed to you with the email address to add to Facebook and your profile password and tap the Add button and -mail .
Subsequently, verify your new address through the email received from Facebook, go back to the settings of the social network app and first set the new main email address , by tapping on the appropriate item, and then to remove the addresses that do not you want to use, using the Remove option located next to them.
If you want, you can limit the audience to which a particular email address is displayed using the privacy drop-down menu (the one located under each address). Convenient, right?
If you want to delete an email address from Facebook using the desktop version of the social network, open the browser you usually use to surf the Internet (eg Chrome ), connect to Facebook.com and, if necessary, log in to your account.
Once the main page of the service is displayed, click on the arrow located at the top right (in the blue bar) and select the Settings item from the menu that appears. Then expand the Contact information section and click on the Add another e-mail address or mobile number that appears below to start the procedure for adding a new email address to Facebook (if the new address you want to use on Facebook is already present in the list of “contact information”, because you have already added it to the social network before, you can skip this step).
In the box that appears on the screen, type the new email address you want to add to Facebook and click on the Add button ; then type the password of your account on the social network and press the Send button to complete the operation. Finally, access your e-mail box, open the message you received from Facebook and press the Confirm button to verify your address.
Mission accomplished! At this point, the new email address should have set itself as the new primary address of the Facebook account. If not, go back to the settings menu of the social network, expand the Contact information section , put the check mark next to the address you want to use as the main address and click on the Save changes button .
Once this is done, expand the Contact Information section again , locate the email address to be deleted from Facebook and click first on the Remove link located next to it and then on the Save changes button at the bottom. Et voila! You just deleted your email address from Facebook – that was easy, wasn’t it?
Note: In the Contact Information section of Facebook settings, you can also choose whether to allow friends to include your email address in the download of the “Download your information” tool. Disabling this option will prevent them from including your email address in the data they download from their profile.
Hide emails from Facebook searches
Do you care about your privacy and, therefore, do you want to avoid being tracked on Facebook via your email address ? Again, this is child’s play: all you have to do is take a few minutes of free time and follow the directions I’m about to give you. You can act both as a smartphone and tablet and as a computer.
From smartphones and tablets
To achieve your goal from a smartphone or tablet, start the official Facebook app for Android or iOS , press the ☰ button and go to Settings and privacy> Settings> Privacy settings . At this point, tap on the item Who can look for you using the email address you provided? and select the Friends option .
In this way, your email address will no longer be public, but will only be traceable by those who are already your friends on the social network. Unfortunately, there is no None option , which would also prohibit friends from finding your profile via email address.
If you prefer to act as a computer, open the browser you usually use to surf the Internet (eg Chrome ), visit the Facebook.com site and, if necessary, log in to your account.
Once the main page of the social network is displayed, click on the arrow located at the top right (in the blue bar) and select the Settings item from the menu that appears. Subsequently, select the item Privacy from the left sidebar, expand the section Who can search for you using the e-mail address you provided? , set the drop-down menu that appears at the bottom on Friends (so that your email address is not public, but can only be found by those who are already your friends on the social network) and click on the Close item (top right) to save the changes.
Delete access data from Facebook
Don’t you like the fact that, when you connect to Facebook, the social network remembers your login details and shows your email address in the appropriate field of the login form? Here’s how to solve the problem in no time!
From smartphones and tablets
If you use a smartphone or tablet Android , you can make sure that the Facebook app “forget” your access credentials going to delete their data from the device memory. To do this, access the Settings menu (the gear icon located on the home screen or in the screen with the list of all the apps installed on the device), go to Apps and select Facebook .
At this point, choose the Memory item , press the Clear data button and the game should be done. Trying to restart the Facebook app, it should have forgotten your login data.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to perform the same operation on an iPhone or iPad . The only thing you can do is disconnect from your session within the Facebook app by pressing the ☰ button and selecting the Exit item from the end of the screen that opens.
If, in addition to making Facebook “forget” your email address and password, you want to disable the function for quick login via photo, press the ☰ button, go to Settings and privacy> Settings> Security and access , select the entry Log in with your profile picture and tap on the option Remove access with profile picture from Facebook for Android (or for iOS) .
To prevent Facebook from storing your login data, you must ensure that cookies are not saved on your PC (i.e. the small files in which login data and other information about your browsing session are stored, as I have explained in my tutorial on the subject) and that the browser does not have automatic form filling enabled. Now I’ll explain how to proceed in all major web browsing programs.
I would like to clarify that, if you have activated the synchronization of browsing data via the Internet, the data you delete on the PC will also be deleted on the smartphone, tablet and all other devices that you have connected to your browser account (eg . the Google account in Chrome or the Apple account in Safari).
If you use the Chrome browser, click on the ⋮ button located at the top right and select the items Other tools> Clear browsing data from the menu that opens. Next, select the Advanced tab , put the check mark next to the Passwords (to delete the passwords stored in the browser and on the Google account) and Auto-fill form data (to delete the form data) and click on the Clear button data to complete the operation.
Once this is done, you must ensure that cookies are not stored for Facebook. Then go to the ⋮ > Chrome Settings menu , search for the term cookie in the search bar at the top and select the Content Settings item from the results that appear at the bottom.
At this point, go to Cookies , click on the Add button related to the Cancel on exit section , add facebook.com to the box that opens and press the Add button to save the changes. From this moment on, Chrome will no longer store your Facebook login data and will ask you to enter your email address and password each time.
If you use the Firefox browser , press the ☰ button located at the top right and select Options / Preferences from the menu that opens. Then select the Privacy and security icon from the left sidebar, press the Saved Access button and, if present, delete the Facebook password.
At this point, press the Exceptions button related to the Modules and passwords section , type facebook.com in the form that is shown on the screen and click first on the Block button and then on the Save changes button : this will prevent Firefox from storing the password in the future of Facebook.
After this step too, press the Exceptions button related to the Cookies and data section of the websites , type facebook.com in the form that is shown on the screen and click first on the Allow button for the session and then on the Save changes button to do so that cookies relating to Facebook are automatically deleted each time the browser is closed.
Finally, disconnect from your Facebook account by connecting to the main page of the social network, clicking on the arrow located at the top right (in the blue bar) and selecting the item Exit from the menu that is proposed to you. The next time you start Firefox, even if you log into your Facebook account again, the browser will not remember your login data.
On Edge you can block the storage of Facebook login data by doing this: click on the … button located at the top right and select the Settings item first and then the View advanced settings item from the menu that appears on the side.
Subsequently, click on the Manage password button and, if present, delete the Facebook password from the menu that opens. When the operation is completed, click on the Manage the data entered in the forms button and, if present, also delete the data relating to Facebook from the menu that is proposed to you.
Now you have to choose whether to activate the automatic deletion of cookies for ALL sites (an operation that would make Edge “forget” the data of all the sites and not just those of Facebook at each closure) or whether to leave the cookies active and take the trouble to log out of the Facebook account at the end of each browsing session.
If you want to automatically delete all cookies when Edge is closed, click on the … button located at the top right, select the Settings item from the menu that appears on the side and press the Choose the items to delete button . Finally, put the check mark next to the item Cookies and saved website data , move the lever on the option Delete always after closing the browser to ON and you’re done.
If, on the other hand, you want to “manually” exit Facebook every time you finish an online browsing session, click on the arrow located at the top right of the main page of the social network and choose the item Exit from the menu that opens.
If you have a Mac and you use Safari as your default browser for browsing the Internet, you can disable the storage of Facebook login data in this way: go to the Safari> Preferences menu located at the top left and, in the window that opens, select the Password tab .
Then type the Mac administration password in the appropriate text field, enter Enter and check if among the passwords stored in Safari there is also the Facebook one: if there is, delete it, selecting it and pressing the Remove button located bottom right.
When the operation is completed, go to the Privacy tab , click on the Manage website data button , search for Facebook in the box that opens (using the appropriate bar located at the top right), select it and delete the related data stored in Safari by pressing the Remove button which is located at the bottom.
As for the automatic deletion of cookies, unfortunately this is not possible in Safari. You can only block all cookies by checking the appropriate box in the Preferences> Privacy menu or leave the cookies active and exit “manually” from Facebook at the end of each browsing session (by clicking on the arrow at the top right and selecting Exit from the menu that appears).
Disable access with photos
Although you have deactivated the storage of passwords and cookies in the browser, when you connect to Facebook do you see a photo of yourself which, if clicked, allows you to log in to the social network? Don’t worry, this is a social network feature that can be deactivated in a few clicks.
All you have to do is log in to Facebook, click on the arrow icon located at the top right and select the Settings item from the menu that opens. On the next page, select the item Protection and access from the left sidebar, press the Edit button in the Login with your profile picture section and click on the option Disable access with profile image related to the browser browser and / or to other browsers with which you have logged into your profile. Finally, click on the Close button to save the settings.
Delete account from Facebook
Would you like to delete your email address from Facebook in the sense that you would like to completely delete your account from the social network? In this case, you have to act differently from what was explained above: you will find all the steps to be taken, both from PC and from smartphone and tablet, in the following paragraphs.
If you want to act as a smartphone or tablet, start the official Facebook app for Android or iOS , press the ☰ button and go to Settings and privacy> Settings> Properties and account control . Then tap on the item Deactivation and deletion , put the check mark next to the Delete account option and press the Continue button to delete the account .
If you prefer to act from a computer, instead, connect to this page of the social network , log in to your account (if necessary) and make sure you have carried out all the preliminary operations recommended before deleting a profile: deactivate Messenger, download a copy of their data, change the administration permissions of their pages and manage the apps connected to the profile. Then click on the Delete account button , type the password to access the profile in the box that appears and click on the Continue button .
