In this regard, I indicate below what are its system requirements.

  • Operating system: Windows 10 (64-bit) or macOS 10.14+.
  • CPU: Intel Core i3 2.5GHz, or AMD Bulldozer / Jaguar / Puma / Zen with SSE4.1 instruction set.
  • RAM: at least 4GB.
  • Display: 1280 × 768 pixels or higher screen resolution.
  • GPU: HD Graphics 4000 / Nvidia GeForce 710 / AMD Radeon HD 6450 or better video card.

If your computer meets the above requirements, download Spark AR Studio connecting to his official website and clicking on the button first Download Now and then on Download. Then wait for the executable file to download to your computer.

When finished, double-click on the downloaded file to start it and begin installing the software, following the instructions I am about to give you.

To install Spark AR Studio on Windowsclick the button Nextthen put a check mark in the box indicating the acceptance of the terms of service, click the button again Next three consecutive times and then click Install.

Now, press the button Yup in the window of User Account Control, in order to start the download of all the files necessary for the correct functioning of the program. Finally, when done, click the button Finishto conclude the installation procedure.

On macOSinstead, to install Spark AR Studiodouble-click the .dmg file downloaded, then drag the software icon to the folder Applications of macOS.

When the software starts, log in with the Facebook account that is connected to Instagram and with which you want to send the publication of the filter that you will import and modify in Spark AR Studio following the indications that I will give you in the next chapter.

The first step to take to use Spark AR Studio it is related to the opening of a new graphic project in augmented reality, in which to import the effect created previously.

However, please note that the Facebook software is only available in English language and it is a rather advanced tool; for this reason, the procedures to be performed for processing and editing filters may be different, depending on the imported filter. Having said that, in this guide I will show you the steps to take to import a basic two-dimensional static filter, as its creation and modification is simple and within everyone’s reach.

To start, then, when the software starts, press the button Create New and then click on the entry Blank Projectto open a new empty project.

Now, first of all, create the “base” on which to import the filter: in the main menu of the software, click on the item Add objectclick on the wording Face Tracker and then click Insert. Now select the level Face Tracker just added and right-click on it. Then, in the menu that is shown to you, press on the item Add and select the wording Plane.

Once this is done, load the previously created filter, selecting it from your computer: press the button From computer located at the bottom of the menu Assets. After importing it, rename it by double clicking on it, to be able to find it faster.

At this point, click on the layer Plane0 and, in the right side menu, expand the menu Materialsthen double-click the entry Material0.

Now, expand the menu item Texture and select the filename for the filter you have already uploaded and renamed. Then go back to the menu Plane0 (by clicking on it) and change the filter settings, for example by adjusting its size, via the menus Position, Stairs And Rotation.

Once you’ve finished editing, all you have to do is export the filter. To do this, click on the entry File (top) and select the item Export in the drop-down menu that is shown to you. In that case, click on the button Exportto export the file and save it on your computer.

Once the export is complete, click on the item Open Spark AR Hubto immediately open the namesake Facebook website through which, following the instructions I will give you in the next chapter, send the filter for approval.

To upload the filter in Instagram Stories please login to the website Spark AR Hub with your account details Facebook connected to the profile Instagram. Done? All right, now press the button Upload creative effectlocated at the top right, to get started.

Once this is done, click on the button Start and, in the next screen that is shown to you, indicate all the requested data, in order to fill in each part of the form relating to the sending of the filter for approval (the Facebook and Instagram teams could reserve 10 days or more for the test).

Now, upload the exported file with Spark AR Studio or drag it to the text field that is shown to you on the card Effect details. Then select the profile or Facebook page to which to attribute the property of the effect, through the menu Effect holder and also indicates the relative destination, choosing between Facebook And Instagram.
