How? Don’t have a Facebook page yet ?! “. To the umpteenth customer who asked you this question, you have finally decided to create a Facebook page with the aim of promoting your company and making it known to a greater number of people. However, if you have come this far, I understand that you are having a hard time figuring out how to create a successful Facebook page . To be honest, you don’t even know where to start, since you are not very experienced in the use of social networks and technology in general.

Don’t worry: if you wish, I can give you some useful “tips” and make sure that your Facebook page can be captivating in the eyes of your potential followers and / or customers. Before getting to the heart of the discussion, however, I want to make one thing clear: there are no 100% effective methods to increase the popularity of a page on Facebook. To achieve the desired success, in fact, you need to work hard and have a lot of patience, since the results are obtained over time and not overnight, as someone might have you believe.

If everything is clear to you so far, I would say not to waste any more time in chatting and to immediately delve into the highlight of the tutorial. Make yourself comfortable, take all the time necessary to concentrate on reading the next paragraphs and, more importantly, implement the “tips” that I will give you. Good luck for everything!

Tips for creating a successful Facebook page

As I said at the beginning, there is no “magic formula” that allows you to have a successful Facebook page in a short time. Even on social networks, in fact, success is the result of a lot of work and commitment, which must be lavished to obtain appreciable results. Therefore, try to follow the tips to create a successful Facebook page contained in the next lines, be constant in putting them into practice and you will see that over time you will reap the rewards of your work. Complete all the information on the page

Completing all the information on a Facebook page  is one of the first steps you need to take if you want to make it attractive to potential followers and customers. It is inconceivable to think of having success with a Facebook page that presents incomplete information and for at least two reasons: 1) the Facebook algorithm “penalizes” pages that present incomplete information; 2) seeing that the page presents incomplete information, users may think that it is neglected or, in any case, not taken care of properly and, consequently, they may not feel encouraged to “Like” or follow updates.

If your page has incomplete information, Facebook comes to meet you with some suggestions that invite you to improve the page itself. Among the information that should never be missing on a Facebook page, is the username , information that can help people find and remember the page better. Additionally, if you create a username, it will be displayed in a custom web address for the page (e.g. facebook.com/yourname ), making it easier to share.

To create a username of the page, presses the link Create @username of the Page (under the name and profile image of the same) and type in the text field Username (after the @ symbol ) the username you want to assign it, using one that closely resembles its name, and then presses the blue button Create username . If the chosen name is available and if the operation was successful, you should see a confirmation message: click on the OK button to close it.

To add other information to the page, instead, click on the Information item under the name of the page and the profile photo of the same and, in the menu that opens, fill in the information in the General sections , Hours , Company  details , and so on, taking care to add as much information as possible about the company that the page represents or about you (if it is a personal page).

Use proper cover and profile images

Since the eye also wants its part , using suitable cover and profile images  is very important to impress potential followers on your Facebook page. Are you wondering what characteristics these elements must have? I’ll explain it to you right away.

As for the profile picture , I suggest you use your company logo or a photo that portrays your face (based on the type of page you have created): of course the image you intend to use must be of quality and have no defects . If you really want to use an image in particular, despite having a quality that is not exactly excellent, at least try to modify it through some photo editing program (eg Photoshop or GIMP) or with apps to retouch photos.

As for the actual insertion of the profile image on your Facebook page, click on the camera symbol placed inside the box containing the example profile image or the one currently in use, click on the item Change profile picture , click on the button  (+) Upload the photo and select the one that best suits you.

The cover image should also be in line with the overall theme of the page. For example, if you have created a page to advertise your business, a good idea could be to include the photo of your company’s headquarters as a cover image and perhaps add the official slogan of the same (if you don’t know how to do it, read the tutorial where I explain how to insert writings on photos). If you don’t know where to find quality cover images, know that you can download them from the Internet or create them with some free web services. Alternatively, if you want to really impress your potential followers, you can upload cover videos , or videos to use as a cover instead of “standard” images.

To add a cover image, click on the Edit button , located on the current cover photo, click on the item  Choose from photos  (to select the cover image from one of the photos already uploaded), Upload photo (to carry out the ‘upload a new photo) or Create a slideshow (to create a slideshow).

When choosing your profile picture, keep in mind that it is displayed in the following dimensions: 170 x 170 pixels on computers and 128 x 128 pixels on smartphones. As for the cover image, however, know that it is displayed in the following dimensions: 820 x 312 pixels  on computers and  640 x 360 pixels  on smartphones.

Regularly publish interesting posts

Another aspect to pay attention to in order to be successful with your Facebook page concerns the quality and regularity of the content posted. In fact, publishing interesting posts and doing it regularly is one of the main precautions that must be used to increase the popularity of a Facebook page.

Posting content every now and then or, in any case, posting objectively ugly and uninteresting content, could make your page seem “neglected”, which would not lead to new visitors and potential followers (indeed, the risk would be to lose the ones you already have! ).

An idea could be to post an image or video every day that is themed with the page (even better if it is a fun content): as for the visual content – images and videos – make sure, however, that are of quality, so do not post photos / videos that are grainy or have other obvious defects. Understood?

As for the posts, also remember to include a short personal comment and a call to action that prompts the user to visit your website, to buy the product that is the protagonist of the post you are publishing or to visit your company ( eg Visit our website… ; Buy now…  or Come and visit us at our office, located in Via… ).

Before publishing the post, remember to “tag” it with one or more hashtags (but don’t overdo it!). If you don’t know it, hashtags are words preceded by the symbol (#) that describe the content of a post and serve to make it easier for users to consult: that’s why you shouldn’t give up using them.

If you have no idea which hashtags to use for your post, use services such as  Hashtagify and Top Hashtag , which allow you to know which are the most popular hashtags to use on Facebook (and not only) at any given moment. To create a new post, press the Create a post button , select the type of post you want to publish (eg. Photo / video , mood / activity , etc.), write the text in the appropriate field and, when you are ready to publish it, click on the Publish button . If you want to schedule a post, however, you have to go to the Publishing Tools page (reachable by clicking on the appropriate link that appears after clicking on the Create a post button ) and create the content from there;

Another great way to be successful with a Facebook page is to  create a call to action button : by doing so, users who view your page will be incentivized to contact you, make purchases, book a service and so on.

To add a call-to-action button to your page, press the (+) button Add a button (top right, under the cover image) and select the type of button you want to use: expand one of the menus displayed (eg Follow , Order , etc.), provide the information necessary to make the button work (eg telephone number , e-mail , etc.), click on the Save  button and you’re done.

Now you just have to try the button: click on it and select the Test button item from the menu that opens. If the button does not work correctly, click on the Edit button item from the same menu and check if there is missing or incomplete information that causes it to malfunction.

Sponsor posts

Highlight posts on Facebook

Sponsoring posts posted on your page is another great way to make it successful. In recent times, in fact, the Facebook algorithm prefers the contents posted by Facebook profiles (the “private” accounts of users) and not those of the pages : this is why sponsoring posts could be not only useful, but even necessary, to reach more people and increase the number of followers of your page.

To advertise content on Facebook, locate the post you want to sponsor, press the blue button Highlight the post , then select the audience you want to reach with the sponsorship (eg. People who like your Page , People who like it your Page and their friends or People you choose by targeting ), indicate the budget you intend to spend on the advertising campaign as well as its duration and the currency with which you intend to finance it, and click on the Highlight immediately button located at the bottom right .

In the Add payment information box , add a valid payment method ( Credit or Debit Card , PayPal or Current Account ), click on the Next button and follow the instructions on the screen to complete the procedure.
