As regards, however, i private citizensa list of certified e-mail addresses should be contained in theNational Register of Resident Populationbut it concerns only those who have indicated a certified e-mail address as their digital home and is accessible only by Public Administrations, managers and operators of public services.

For the rest, unfortunately, there are no public lists through which you can find out who owns a specific certified e-mail address, which is why finding out if a PEC is really active or not can be much more difficult … but not impossible! In this case, in fact, to find out more, it might be enough to use search engines or, again, social networks: I will talk about it in more detail shortly.

Let’s start from a fundamental point: all PEC addresses have one expiration, usually annual. To renew the PEC and prevent it from expiring, you must connect to the website of the service to which the certified mailbox belongs, carry out the login with your details, click on button or on the entry for the renewal of the PEC present in the box management screen and proceed with the renewal, providing the data to make the payment.

Unfortunately, I cannot be more precise in my indications, as I am not aware of the certified e-mail service you use. In any case, if it can help you, below you will find the links to the support pages of the main PEC services, where you can find useful information in this regard.

Before a PEC address expires, usually, some notification email to the traditional email address provided for receiving communications. Additionally, many services offer a Automatic Renewal which makes the manual renewal of the mailbox superfluous.
