It is one of the most popular free solutions in the category. It allows you to type text without ever taking your hands off the screen and provides “smart” suggestions for autocomplete. As for the customization, it allows you to apply many different and colorful themes.

To download it on your device, access the relevant section of the Play Store and press the Install button . Then, enable the use of the keyboard and set it as default, as I explained to you in the introduction of this chapter, then start SwiftKey by selecting the relative icon that has just been added on the home screen or in the app drawer.

Now that you see the main screen of SwiftKey, choose whether to log in with your Google account or with the Microsoft account, in order to enable the function offered by the app to improve the writing predictions and to be able to download more themes.

Once logged in, select the Themes item on the SwiftKey screen and locate the theme you want to use to change the keyboard color, choosing it from the Gallery tab . Once you have identified the theme of your interest, tap on its preview and, if it convinces you, press the Download button to start the download and to set it.

After completing the above steps, you will see the keyboard with the newly set theme appear at the bottom of the screen and, if necessary, you can also try it right away. If this does not happen, tap the button with the keyboard visible at the bottom right to fix it.

All the themes downloaded, together with the predefined ones, will then be accessible from the Personal tab of the Themes section of the app, from which you can also set the previously used themes again, simply by selecting them.

Instead, by accessing the Custom tab , which you can always find in the SwiftKey Themes section , you can create custom themes to apply to the keyboard, by tapping the Start button that you find under the heading Create new theme and using the appropriate editor.
