How to change language in Outlook: You have installed an international version of Microsoft Outlook, now you would like to translate it into Italian but you don’t know how to do it? Are you studying English and, to get used to the use of English-speaking terms, would you like to set up your software to have an interface translated into this language? No problem, you’re reading the guide that’s right for you!

In the next paragraphs, in fact, you will find detailed information on how to change language in outlook using all hardware devices and hardware platforms for which the famous Microsoft software has been made available. You will therefore discover how to translate the Outlook version included in the Office package for Windows and macOS, how to change the language of Outlook on Android and iOS and, finally, how to change the language of Outlook.com, the Microsoft Web Mail service that allows you to manage e-mail directly from the browser.

In short: whatever device or operating system you intend to use, if you want to translate Outlook into another language, all you have to do is read the instructions below and put them into practice. I bet you will be surprised at how easy it is to do it all!

Change Microsoft Outlook language

If you want change the language of Microsoft Outlook on your computer, your smartphone or your tablet, take a few minutes of free time and implement the suggestions I am about to give you.

Windows

If you use a Windows PC and you want to change the language of Microsoft Outlook 2016 (which at the time of writing is the most recent version of the application), you must first download the Language Accessory Pack for Office related to the language you intend to translate the program into.

To download the Language Accessory Pack for Office, go to this page of the Microsoft websiteselect the tab 2016 from section Step 1: Install the Language Accessory Packchoose the language you want to translate Outlook into (eg. English or Italian) from the drop-down menu Which language is needed and starts the download of the language pack version a 32 or 64 bit by clicking on one of the links that appear below.

When the download is complete, open the installation package of the Language Accessory Pack for Office (eg. setuplanguagepack.x64.en-us_.exe for the English language pack for 64-bit Office), click the button Yup present in the window that opens and wait patiently for all the components necessary for the tradition of Outlook (and all other Office programs) to be first downloaded and then installed on the PC. It may take several minutes. When the process is complete, click on Close to finish the setup.

If the Language Accessory Pack for Office fails to install and an error message with code appears 30029-1011, it means that you are using a VL version of Office and not a standard version of the suite, which is the one required for installing the translation packages. So get a standard version of Office and repeat the installation of the language pack.

How to change the language in Outlook for Windows

Once you’ve finished installing the Language Accessory Pack for Office, open Microsoft Outlook (or any other Office suite application), click on the button File located at the top left and select the item Options (or Optionsif you’re using Office in English) from the sidebar of the screen that opens.

Next, choose the item Language (or Languageif you use Office in English) from the sidebar of the window that opened, select the language in which you want to translate Outlook from the panes User interface language (or Display languageif you use Office in English) e Guide language (or Help language, if you’re using Office in English) and move it to the top of the list using the ▲ button. Finally, click on the button OK and restart Outlook to apply the changes.

How to change the language in Outlook for Windows

After restarting Outlook, this, and all other Office suite applications, will be translated into the language you have selected.

Note: For the best user experience, Microsoft recommends setting Windows to the same language as Office. macOS

If you use Outlook for Mac, you can change the language of the program simply by changing the default language of the operating system. Then open System Preferences (the gear icon located on the Dock bar), go up Language and area and, in the window that opens, presses the button [+] located at the bottom of the left sidebar to add a new language. When done, move the language you want to translate macOS and Outlook into to the top of the left sidebar (just drag it with the mouse) and you’re done.

How to change language in Outlook for Mac

If you want to change the editing language for files in Office for Mac, open one of the applications included in the suite, go to the menu Tools> Language and select the language of your interest from the window that opens. Finally click on OK to save the changes.

Android

How to change language in Outlook for Android

If you use Outlook to manage e-mail on your terminal Androidknow that you can change the language of the app simply by changing the default language of the operating system.

To change the default Android language, go to the menu Settings (the gear icon located on the home screen or in the screen with the list of all the apps installed on the device) and go to Language and input, Language and input or Language and input (the item may vary depending on the Android version you are using). If you don’t see the “Language” entry in the settings menu, go to first Advanced settings and there you should find it.

At this point, move on Language (or Language & regions> Language), select the language of your interest (eg. English (US)) and launch the Outlook app, which should have translated automatically.

If you use Android in English and you want to configure it to use the Italian language, access the menu of settingsgo up Language & input> Language (or Advanced settings> Language & input> Language) and choose the language in which to use the system (in this case Italian).

iOS

How to change the language in Outlook for iOS

For iOS the same goes for Android: you can change the language ad Outlook only by changing the default language of the operating system. To do this, open the menu Settings (the gear icon on the home screen), go up General> Language and Region> iPhone Language (or iPad Language)select the language of your interest (eg. English) and first presses the button end (located at the top right) and then up Change to “[lingua scelta]” to save the changes. Now open Outlook and this should have translated into the language you selected.

If you currently use iOS in English and want to translate it (along with Outlook) into Italian, open the settings (the gear icon on the home screen), go up General> Language & Region> iPhone Language (or iPad Language)select the language of your interest (eg. Italian) and first presses the button Done (top right) and then up Change to “[lingua scelta]” to apply the changes.

Uses Outlook.com to manage e-mail and would you like to change the language of the service? Nothing easier.

If you currently use Outlook in Italian and want to switch to another language, log in to the service using your Microsoft account, click on thegear located at the top right and choose the item View all Outlook settings in the menu that is shown to you.

On the page that opens, expand the menu General located in the left sidebar, click on the entry Language and time and use the drop-down menu Language to choose the language in which to use Outlook.com. If you want, change the settings for the time zone current and presses the button Save (top left) to apply the changes.

If, on the other hand, you currently use Outlook.com in English and want to translate it into Italian or another language, access the service and follow the same instructions as seen above. Then click on thegear located at the top right and select the item View all Outlook setting in the menu that appears. Then choose your options General> Language and time in the left sidebar, set the language you want to use (ex. Italian) through the appropriate drop-down menu Language and save the changes by clicking on the button Save.

The Outlook.com interface and folders will change language automatically based on the settings you have chosen. In case of second thoughts, you can change the language of the service again by following the instructions I have just given you.
