## Calculation of the percentage on the Android mobile

If you wish to carry out the **calculation of the percentage on the Android mobile**, know that you can use the system calculator and third-party apps useful for the purpose. Let me explain in detail how to proceed.

### Android calculator

If you prefer to calculate the percentage using the **Android calculator**, know that to do this you simply have to multiply the starting number by the percentage number and divide the result by 100.

Let’s say, for example, that you want to calculate 25% of 500. To do this, you need to multiply the **starting number** (in this case **500**) for the **percentage number** (in this case **25**) using the button **(x)**. After that you have to divide the result obtained (in this case **12,500**) for **100 **and, by tapping the button **(=)**, you will get the percentage calculation (in the example **125**).

On the default calculator of many Android devices, there is also a specific function to calculate the percentage. To use it, you have to write the starting number, press the button **(%)** which is present in the menu that can be called up by pressing the button **(<)** located on the right, write the percentage number and, if necessary, press the button **(=)**.

### App to calculate the percentage

As I told you in the introduction of the article, there are several **app to calculate the percentage** which can be useful for this purpose, especially if you want to perform calculations a little more complex than the simple percentage calculation.

One of the best on the square for Android is **Percentage Calculation** (also available for iPhone, as you can see in one of the following chapters), which not only allows you to calculate the simple percentage, but also the discount percentage, the percentage increase and reduction, the calculation of the tip, VAT and much more. I point out that the app is free, but to remove the advertising banners (however not too invasive) it contains you have to buy its full version, which costs 1.99 euros.

After installing and starting Percentage Calculation on your mobile phone, tap on the type of calculation you want to perform (eg. **Simple percentage**, **Tip**, **VAT**, etc.) and fill out the form in which to enter the various calculation data, based on the type of percentage you have decided to calculate.

If you have chosen to calculate the **percentage of VAT**, for example, you must provide data concerning the **net price** and the **percentage of VAT**. If, on the other hand, you have chosen to calculate the **discount percentage**, you must provide the price of the asset in the appropriate text fields **first** of the discount and the percentage of **Discount**.

To redo the calculation and delete the data entered, you must tap the button depicting the **twisted arrow** on itself located at the top right. To return to the main screen of the app, however, you have to tap on the symbol **(≡)** located in the upper left corner of the screen.

## Calculating the percentage on the iPhone

You have a **iPhone** and would like to know how to calculate the percentage? Also in this case, know that you can use the built-in calculator “standard” on iOS, Siri or third-party solutions.

### IOS calculator

The app **Calculator** present “standard” on **iPhone** allows you to calculate the percentage in an extremely easy and fast way. To do this, you must do what I have already told you in the previous lines, that is, multiply the starting number by the percentage number and then divide the result by 100.

I’ll give you a practical example, so that you can better understand how to proceed. Let’s say you want to calculate 12% of 650. To do this, you need to multiply the **starting number** (in our example **650**) for the **percentage number** (so **12**) by pressing the button depicting the symbol **(x)**. Next, divide the result obtained (in this case **7,800**) for **100 **and, by tapping the button **(=)**, you will get the percentage calculation (in this case **78**).

### Siri

A pretty quick and easy way to calculate the percentage on iPhone is to use **Siri**, the “standard” integrated voice assistant on iOS. To do this, in fact, all you have to do is launch it and then say the voice command: “**Calculate the [numero percentuale]% from [numero di partenza]**“(Eg.”*Calculate 20% of 58*“).

I remind you that you can call Siri both by long-pressing the **Home button** (on **iPhone 8/8 Plus** and earlier) by pressing and holding the **side button** on **iPhone X** and later models or by using the voice command “Hey* Siri!*“(If you have activated the function **Enable “Hey Siri”** give her **Settings** of iOS and if your device supports this function). For more details on how to use Siri, see the guide I linked to you.

### App to calculate the percentage

Would you like to use **third-party app to calculate the percentage** on iPhone? There are several that might come in handy for this purpose, but one of the best of all is **Percentage Calculation**, which I already told you about in one of the previous chapters.

The app allows you to quickly calculate the simple percentage, the discount percentage, the percentage increase and reduction and, thanks to some business calculators, even profit margins, sales taxes, VAT, etc. . I remind you that Percentage Calculation is free, to remove the advertising banners (not at all invasive) present in its free version, you need to make an in-app purchase of € 3.49.

After installing and starting Percentage Calculation on your “iPhone by”, tap on the type of calculation you want to perform (eg. **Simple percentage**, **Tip**, **Discount**, **Price / quantity**, **Percentage increase / decrease**, etc.) and fill out the form in which to enter the various calculation data.

The module in question varies according to the type of calculation that has been decided to carry out. If you have chosen to calculate the **simple percentage**, for example, you simply have to provide the data regarding the percentage number (in the text field **The**) and the starting number (in the text field **from**). If, on the other hand, you have chosen to calculate the percentage concerning the**compound interest**, you must provide the **initial value**, the **interest rate** expressed as a percentage and the **number of years**.

In case you want to do the calculation all over again, just press the button depicting the **twisted arrow** on itself, located in the upper right corner of the screen. To return to the main screen of the app, however, you have to press the button **(≡)** located at the top left.
