Encrypt files: Are you tired of friends who get their hands on your PC and begin to rummage through your private files without permission? You would like to know how to encrypt a file to protect your privacy but, being not yet very practical of PC, are you afraid of using too complicated software? It seems to me that you have never heard of FileDecoder.

FileDecoder is a free “made in Italy” program for all versions of Windows that allows you to protect any type of file. Thanks to it, you can set up some password against unauthorized access and encrypt your documents using all the most advanced encryption algorithms. Here’s how it works, it’s really easy!

If you want to find out how to encrypt a file, the first step you need to take is to connect to FileDecoder website and download the program to your PC by clicking on the item first Download, then on the button Forward placed at the top right (at the end of the five second countdown) and finally again on Download.

When the download is complete open, double clicking on it, the file you just downloaded (setup.exe) and, in the window that opens, click first on Run and then on Yup, Forward four times in a row, Install is end to end the installation process and start FileDecoder.

For encrypt a file with FileDecoder you must select the latter with the mouse and drag it to the program window or click on green button + placed at the top left and choose it. Then you have to select the file from the list of FileDecoders and click on the button Protect / Restore.

In the window that opens, select the encryption algorithm to be used in the drop-down menu Algorithm used, type the password you want to use to protect the file in the fields Password is Verify password, choose the folder in which to save the file in encrypted version using the button located at the bottom right and click on Protect / Restore to start the encryption procedure.

At the end of the process (the duration of which varies according to the size of the element to be encrypted), the encrypted file will be saved in the folder indicated by you as an application.exe but the original file will not be removed. This means that, for safety, you must delete it manually, so as to keep only the encrypted version of the element on the PC.

To decrypt files encrypted with FileDecoder, all you have to do is open them by double clicking, type the password necessary to display them in the text field Enter your password and click on the button Decrypt.

At the end of the procedure, the original version of the file (unencrypted) will be extracted in the folder where the encrypted one in exe format is located. It will be freely viewable and editable by anyone, so to encrypt it after any changes you will have to follow the encryption procedure again, otherwise you can delete it and continue to keep the encrypted one.
