Chat applications: The chat applicationsnow known mainly by the name of instant messaging applications, are now more and more widespread. Between Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Skype and Telegram, as well as many others, it is really difficult to say which is the best. It all depends on the user experience you are looking for. As for functionality, there is now a real competition in the creation of messaging apps, so much so that often the apps tend to copy each other the most interesting, original or innovative features.

In any case, if you are looking for advice on which one chat applications download, I can definitely help you out. As usual, in this guide of mine, I will list some of the most popular chat applications, telling you in detail about their most prominent features. In this way you will be able to get a better idea of which (or which) messaging applications to use, because they are more in line with your needs and / or requirements.

So take a few minutes to pause to read this guide and keep your favorite device between Android, iOS or Windows at hand to download and try with me the apps that I will recommend. Last but not least, I wish you a good read.

Whatsapp

It will also be difficult to choose the best messaging application, but WhatsApp is undoubtedly one of the most famous and used. Basically, WhatsApp is nothing more than an application for mobile devices, through which you can chat with your telephone contacts, without having to pay for SMS. Messages sent to other users take advantage of your device’s Internet connection and are totally free; obviously the recipient will also have to use the same application.

The application is very simple to use, is cross-platform and is available on numerous devices: Android, iOS and Windows for smartphones and tablets. You can also use WhatsApp on your computer by downloading the official application for Windows or Mac. Alternatively, you can also use WhatsApp via web browser.

Born in 2009, WhatsApp has undergone a very strong evolution with the introduction of new features: calls, video calls, group messages, sending emojis, GIFs, voice messages, sharing photos and videos and much more; all offered completely free to users.

It is practically impossible to deny the popularity of WhatsApp. He thinks that even Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of the social network Facebook, noticed this and made WhatsApp become a proprietary application of his company: a purchase that cost a good 19 billion dollars.

Why use WhatsApp? The reason that could push you to use this messaging application is given by its extreme simplicity and reliability, thanks to its system of end-to-end encryption. It is a special security protocol that allows safe conversations to the point that it is very difficult to intercept.

Telegram

The best alternative to WhatsApp could be Telegram, as one of the most feature-packed cross-platform messaging apps. Available for free on Android, iOS, Windows Phone devices, but also on Windows PCs and Macs, Telegram is also accessible directly via web browserwithout there having to be a direct connection with your smartphone.

In terms of functionality, Telegram offers more or less the same tools as WhatsApp: sending messages, group chats, sending emojis, GIFs, voice messages, sharing photos and videos. Unlike WhatsApp, calls and video calls are not currently available on Telegram.

In reality, however, if we want to analyze Telegram more carefully, the differences with WhatsApp are many and Telegram turns out to be a notch above WhatsApp, as regards the additional tools offered for free, absent on WhatsApp. Among the most prominent features that Telegram offers you, there is the possibility of create channels (conversations in which a single person posts content and in which other users follow) and create secret chats (conversations that, in addition to being equipped with end-to-end encryption, allow the self-destruction of messages sent).

Furthermore, unlike WhatsApp, Telegram is configured as an open source messaging application with some advanced features aimed at more experienced users. Among these is the bot creation (i.e. virtual assistants) via API (application programming interface)the creation of customizable themes, the instant opening of links, the integration of a proprietary platform for writing texts and much more.

Why use Telegram? Although Telegram’s popularity is still less than that of WhatsApp or other messaging applications, its strong point is undoubtedly its wealth of advanced features and for this I recommend its use.
